Currently, tcp_memory_allocated can hit tcp_mem[] limits quite fast.
Each TCP socket can forward allocate up to 2 MB of memory, even after
flow became less active.
10,000 sockets can have reserved 20 GB of memory,
and we have no shrinker in place to reclaim that.
Instead of trying to reclaim the extra allocations in some places,
just keep sk->sk_forward_alloc values as small as possible.
This should not impact performance too much now we have per-cpu
reserves: Changes to tcp_memory_allocated should not be too frequent.
For sockets not using SO_RESERVE_MEM:
- idle sockets (no packets in tx/rx queues) have zero forward alloc.
- non idle sockets have a forward alloc smaller than one page.
Note:
- Removal of SK_RECLAIM_CHUNK and SK_RECLAIM_THRESHOLD
is left to MPTCP maintainers as a follow up.

The code for gso_max_size was added originally to allow for debugging and
workaround of buggy devices that couldn't support TSO with blocks 64K in
size. The original reason for limiting it to 64K was because that was the
existing limits of IPv4 and non-jumbogram IPv6 length fields.
With the addition of Big TCP we can remove this limit and allow the value
to potentially go up to UINT_MAX and instead be limited by the tso_max_size
value.
So in order to support this we need to go through and clean up the
remaining users of the gso_max_size value so that the values will cap at
64K for non-TCPv6 flows. In addition we can clean up the GSO_MAX_SIZE value
so that 64K becomes GSO_LEGACY_MAX_SIZE and UINT_MAX will now be the upper
limit for GSO_MAX_SIZE.
v6: (edumazet) fixed a compile error if CONFIG_IPV6=n,
in a new sk_trim_gso_size() helper.
netif_set_tso_max_size() caps the requested TSO size
with GSO_MAX_SIZE.

"We've got a number of SELinux patches queued up, the highlights are:
- Fixup the security_fs_context_parse_param() LSM hook so it executes
all of the LSM hook implementations unless a serious error occurs.
We also correct the SELinux hook implementation so that it returns
zero on success.
- In addition to a few SELinux mount option parsing fixes, we
simplified the parsing by moving it earlier in the process.
The logic was that it was unlikely an admin/user would use the new
mount API and not have the policy loaded before passing the SELinux
options.
- Properly fixed the LSM/SELinux/SCTP hooks with the addition of the
security_sctp_assoc_established() hook.
This work was done in conjunction with the netdev folks and should
complete the move of the SCTP labeling from the endpoints to the
associations.
- Fixed a variety of sparse warnings caused by changes in the "__rcu"
markings of some core kernel structures.
- Ensure we access the superblock's LSM security blob using the
stacking-safe accessors.
- Added the ability for the kernel to always allow FIOCLEX and
FIONCLEX if the "ioctl_skip_cloexec" policy capability is
specified.
- Various constifications improvements, type casting improvements,
additional return value checks, and dead code/parameter removal.
- Documentation fixes"

This issue occurs when asoc is peeled off and the old sk is freed after
getting it by asoc->base.sk and before calling lock_sock(sk).
To prevent the sk free, as a holder of the sk, ep should be alive when
calling lock_sock(). This patch uses call_rcu() and moves sock_put and
ep free into sctp_endpoint_destroy_rcu(), so that it's safe to try to
hold the ep under rcu_read_lock in sctp_transport_traverse_process().
If sctp_endpoint_hold() returns true, it means this ep is still alive
and we have held it and can continue to dump it; If it returns false,
it means this ep is dead and can be freed after rcu_read_unlock, and
we should skip it.
In sctp_sock_dump(), after locking the sk, if this ep is different from
tsp->asoc->ep, it means during this dumping, this asoc was peeled off
before calling lock_sock(), and the sk should be skipped; If this ep is
the same with tsp->asoc->ep, it means no peeloff happens on this asoc,
and due to lock_sock, no peeloff will happen either until release_sock.
Note that delaying endpoint free won't delay the port release, as the
port release happens in sctp_endpoint_destroy() before calling call_rcu().
Also, freeing endpoint by call_rcu() makes it safe to access the sk by
asoc->base.sk in sctp_assocs_seq_show() and sctp_rcv().
Thanks Jones to bring this issue up.
v1->v2:
- improve the changelog.
- add kfree(ep) into sctp_endpoint_destroy_rcu(), as Jakub noticed.

Currently, the probe timer is reused as the raise timer when PLPMTUD is in
the Search Complete state. raise_count was introduced to count how many
times the probe timer has timed out. When raise_count reaches to 30, the
raise timer handler will be triggered.
During the whole processing above, the timer keeps timing out every probe_
interval. It is a waste for the Search Complete state, as the raise timer
only needs to time out after 30 * probe_interval.
Since the raise timer and probe timer are never used at the same time, it
is no need to keep probe timer 'alive' in the Search Complete state. This
patch to introduce sctp_transport_reset_raise_timer() to start the timer
as the raise timer when entering the Search Complete state. When entering
the other states, sctp_transport_reset_probe_timer() will still be called
to reset the timer to the probe timer.
raise_count can be removed from sctp_transport as no need to count probe
timer timeout for raise timer timeout. last_rtx_chunks can be removed as
sctp_transport_reset_probe_timer() can be called in the place where asoc
rtx_data_chunks is changed.

This patch reverts two prior patches, e7310c9402
("security: implement sctp_assoc_established hook in selinux") and
7c2ef0240e ("security: add sctp_assoc_established hook"), which
create the security_sctp_assoc_established() LSM hook and provide a
SELinux implementation. Unfortunately these two patches were merged
without proper review (the Reviewed-by and Tested-by tags from
Richard Haines were for previous revisions of these patches that
were significantly different) and there are outstanding objections
from the SELinux maintainers regarding these patches.
Work is currently ongoing to correct the problems identified in the
reverted patches, as well as others that have come up during review,
but it is unclear at this point in time when that work will be ready
for inclusion in the mainline kernel. In the interest of not keeping
objectionable code in the kernel for multiple weeks, and potentially
a kernel release, we are reverting the two problematic patches.

sctp_sf_violation_chunk() is not called with asoc argument equal to NULL,
but if that happens it would lead to NULL pointer dereference
in sctp_vtag_verify().
The patch removes code that handles NULL asoc in sctp_sf_violation_chunk().

nr_free_buffer_pages could be exposed through mm.h instead of swap.h.
The advantage of this change is that it can reduce the obsolete
includes. For example, net/ipv4/tcp.c wouldn't need swap.h any more
since it has already included mm.h. Similarly, after checking all the
other files, it comes that tcp.c, udp.c meter.c ,... follow the same
rule, so these files can have swap.h removed too.
Moreover, after preprocessing all the files that use
nr_free_buffer_pages, it turns out that those files have already
included mm.h.Thus, we can move nr_free_buffer_pages from swap.h to mm.h
safely. This change will not affect the compilation of other files.

This patch is to move secid and peer_secid from endpoint to association,
and pass asoc to sctp_assoc_request and sctp_sk_clone instead of ep. As
ep is the local endpoint and asoc represents a connection, and in SCTP
one sk/ep could have multiple asoc/connection, saving secid/peer_secid
for new asoc will overwrite the old asoc's.
Note that since asoc can be passed as NULL, security_sctp_assoc_request()
is moved to the place right after the new_asoc is created in
sctp_sf_do_5_1B_init() and sctp_sf_do_unexpected_init().

sctp_transport_pl_toobig() supposes to return true only if there's

these return places in sctp_transport_pl_toobig().

Currently when PLPMTUD enters Error state, transport pathmtu will be set
to MIN_PLPMTU(512) while probe is continuing with BASE_PLPMTU(1200). It
will cause pathmtu to stay in a very small value, even if the real pmtu
is some value like 1000.
RFC8899 doesn't clearly say how to set the value in Error state. But one
possibility could be keep using BASE_PLPMTU for the real pmtu, but allow
to do IP fragmentation when it's in Error state.
As it says in rfc8899#section-5.4:
Some paths could be unable to sustain packets of the BASE_PLPMTU
size. The Error State could be implemented to provide robustness to
such paths. This allows fallback to a smaller than desired PLPMTU
rather than suffer connectivity failure. This could utilize methods
such as endpoint IP fragmentation to enable the PL sender to
communicate using packets smaller than the BASE_PLPMTU.
This patch is to set pmtu to BASE_PLPMTU instead of MIN_PLPMTU for Error
state in sctp_transport_pl_send/toobig(), and set packet ipfragok for
non-probe packets when it's in Error state.

sctp_sf_ootb() is called when processing DATA chunk in closed state,
and many other places are also using it.
The vtag in the chunk's sctphdr should be verified, otherwise, as
later in chunk length check, it may send abort with the existent
asoc's vtag, which can be exploited by one to cook a malicious
chunk to terminate a SCTP asoc.
When fails to verify the vtag from the chunk, this patch sets asoc
to NULL, so that the abort will be made with the vtag from the
received chunk later.

1. In closed state: in sctp_sf_do_5_1D_ce():
When asoc is NULL, making packet for abort will use chunk's vtag
in sctp_ootb_pkt_new(). But when asoc exists, vtag from the chunk
should be verified before using peer.i.init_tag to make packet
for abort in sctp_ootb_pkt_new(), and just discard it if vtag is
not correct.
2. In the other states: in sctp_sf_do_5_2_4_dupcook():
asoc always exists, but duplicate cookie_echo's vtag will be
handled by sctp_tietags_compare() and then take actions, so before
that we only verify the vtag for the abort sent for invalid chunk

sctp_sf_discard_chunk() to send an abort with the existent asoc's
vtag if the chunk length is not valid. But the vtag in the chunk's
sctphdr is not verified, which may be exploited by one to cook a
malicious chunk to terminal a SCTP asoc.
sctp_sf_discard_chunk() also is called in many other places to send

it by sending abort with the existent asoc's vtag only if the vtag
from the chunk's sctphdr is verified in sctp_sf_discard_chunk().

sctp_sf_discard_chunk(), then replace it with sctp_sf_discard().

Currently Linux SCTP uses the verification tag of the existing SCTP
asoc when failing to process and sending the packet with the ABORT
chunk. This will result in the peer accepting the ABORT chunk and
removing the SCTP asoc. One could exploit this to terminate a SCTP
asoc.

which will automatically account for padding on each call. inreq and

SCTP_PAD4(a + b) (which _sctp_make_chunk() did implicitly here) is
different from SCTP_PAD4(a) + SCTP_PAD4(b) and not enough. It led to
possible attempt to use more buffer than it was allocated and triggered

This patch is to introduce last_rtx_chunks into sctp_transport to detect
if there's any packet retransmission/loss happened by checking against
asoc's rtx_data_chunks in sctp_transport_pl_send().
If there is, namely, transport->last_rtx_chunks != asoc->rtx_data_chunks,
the pmtu probe will be sent out. Otherwise, increment the pl.raise_count
and return when it's in Search Complete state.
With this patch, if in Search Complete state, which is a long period, it
doesn't need to keep probing the current pmtu unless there's data packet
loss. This will save quite some traffic.

This patch does 3 things:
- make sctp_transport_pl_send() and sctp_transport_pl_recv()
return bool type to decide if more probe is needed to send.
- pr_debug() only when probe is really needed to send.
- count pl.raise_count in sctp_transport_pl_send() instead of
sctp_transport_pl_recv(), and it's only incremented for the
1st probe for the same size.
These are preparations for the next patch to make probes happen
only when there's packet loss in Search Complete state.

Currently, in sctp_packet_config(), sctp_transport_pmtu_check() is
called to update transport pathmtu with dst's mtu when dst's mtu
has been changed by non sctp stack like xfrm.
However, this should only happen when SPP_PMTUD_ENABLE is set, no
matter where dst's mtu changed. This patch is to fix by checking
SPP_PMTUD_ENABLE flag before calling sctp_transport_pmtu_check().
Thanks Jacek for reporting and looking into this issue.

This is an use-after-free issue caused by not updating asoc->shkey after
it was replaced in the key list asoc->endpoint_shared_keys, and the old
key was freed.
This patch is to fix by also updating active_key for asoc when old key is
being replaced with a new one. Note that this issue doesn't exist in
sctp_auth_del_key_id(), as it's not allowed to delete the active_key
from the asoc.

After commit ca84bd058d ("sctp: copy the optval from user space in
sctp_setsockopt"), it does memory allocation in sctp_setsockopt with
the optlen, and it would fail the allocation and return error if the
optlen from user space is a huge value.
This breaks some sockopts, like SCTP_HMAC_IDENT, SCTP_RESET_STREAMS and
SCTP_AUTH_KEY, as when processing these sockopts before, optlen would
be trimmed to a biggest value it needs when optlen is a huge value,
instead of failing the allocation and returning error.
This patch is to fix the allocation failure when it's a huge optlen from
user space by trimming it to the biggest size sctp sockopt may need when
necessary, and this biggest size is from sctp_setsockopt_reset_streams()
for SCTP_RESET_STREAMS, which is bigger than those for SCTP_HMAC_IDENT
and SCTP_AUTH_KEY.

When SCTP handles an INIT chunk, it calls for example:
sctp_sf_do_5_1B_init
sctp_verify_init
sctp_verify_param
sctp_process_init
sctp_process_param
handling of SCTP_PARAM_SET_PRIMARY

later handling, allowing it to work over the chunk itself, possibly being
uninitialized memory.

In one of the fallbacks that SCTP has for identifying an association for an
incoming packet, it looks for AddIp chunk (from ASCONF) and take a peek.
Thing is, at this stage nothing was validating that the chunk actually had
enough content for that, allowing the peek to happen over uninitialized
memory.
Similar check already exists in actual asconf handling in
sctp_verify_asconf().

The first chunk in a packet is ensured to be present at the beginning of
sctp_rcv(), as a packet needs to have at least 1 chunk. But the second
one, may not be completely available and ch->length can be over
uninitialized memory.
Fix here is by only trying to walk on the next chunk if there is enough to
hold at least the header, and then proceed with the ch->length validation
that is already there.

Ilja reported that, simply putting it, nothing was validating that
from_addr_param functions were operating on initialized memory. That is,
the parameter itself was being validated by sctp_walk_params, but it
doesn't check for types and their specific sizes and it could be a 0-length
one, causing from_addr_param to potentially work over the next parameter or
even uninitialized memory.
The fix here is to, in all calls to from_addr_param, check if enough space
is there for the wanted IP address type.

These is no need to wait for 'interval' period for the next probe
if the last probe is already acked in search state. The 'interval'
period waiting should be only for probe failure timeout and the
current pmtu check when it's in search complete state.
This change will shorten the probe time a lot in search state, and
also fix the document accordingly.

Currently the PLPMUTD probe will stop for a long period (interval * 30)
after it enters search complete state. If there's a pmtu change on the
route path, it takes a long time to be aware if the ICMP TooBig packet
is lost or filtered.
As it says in rfc8899#section-4.3:
"A DPLPMTUD method MUST NOT rely solely on this method."
(ICMP PTB message).
This patch is to enable the other method for search complete state:
"A PL can use the DPLPMTUD probing mechanism to periodically
generate probe packets of the size of the current PLPMTU."
With this patch, the probe will continue with the current pmtu every
'interval' until the PMTU_RAISE_TIMER 'timeout', which we implement
by adding raise_count to raise the probe size when it counts to 30
and removing the SCTP_PL_COMPLETE check for PMTU_RAISE_TIMER.

Previously, sctp over udp was using udp tunnel's icmp err process, which
only does sk lookup on sctp side. However for sctp's icmp error process,
there are more things to do, like syncing assoc pmtu/retransmit packets
for toobig type err, and starting proto_unreach_timer for unreach type
err etc.
Now after adding PLPMTUD, which also requires to process toobig type err
on sctp side. This patch is to process icmp err on sctp side by parsing
the type/code/info in .encap_err_lookup and call sctp's icmp processing
functions. Note as the 'redirect' err process needs to know the outer
ip(v6) header's, we have to leave it to udp(v6)_err to handle it.

- param_flags & SPP_PMTUD_ENABLE
- state == ACTIVE
If all are true, start the PLPMTUD when it's not yet started. If any of
these is false, stop the PLPMTUD when it's already running.
sctp_transport_pl_update() is called when the transport dst has changed.
It will restart the PLPMTUD probe. Again, the pathmtu won't change but
use the dst's mtu until the Search phase is done.
Note that after using PLPMTUD, the pathmtu is only initialized with the
dst mtu when the transport dst changes. At other time it is updated by
pl.pmtu. So sctp_transport_pmtu_check() will be called only when PLPMTUD
is disabled in sctp_packet_config().
After this patch, the PLPMTUD feature from RFC8899 will be activated
and can be used by users.

PLPMTUD will short-circuit the old process for icmp TOOBIG packets.
This part is described in rfc8899#section-4.6.2 (PL_PTB_SIZE =
PTB_SIZE - other_headers_len). Note that from rfc8899#section-5.2
State Machine, each case below is for some specific states only:
a) PL_PTB_SIZE < MIN_PLPMTU || PL_PTB_SIZE >= PROBED_SIZE,
discard it, for any state
b) MIN_PLPMTU < PL_PTB_SIZE < BASE_PLPMTU,
Base -> Error, for Base state
c) BASE_PLPMTU <= PL_PTB_SIZE < PLPMTU,
Search -> Base or Complete -> Base, for Search and Complete states.
d) PLPMTU < PL_PTB_SIZE < PROBED_SIZE,
set pl.probe_size to PL_PTB_SIZE then verify it, for Search state.
The most important one is case d), which will help find the optimal
fast during searching. Like when pathmtu = 1392 for SCTP over IPv4,
the search will be (20 is iphdr_len):
1. probe with 1200 - 20
2. probe with 1232 - 20
3. probe with 1264 - 20
...
7. probe with 1388 - 20
8. probe with 1420 - 20
When sending the probe with 1420 - 20, TOOBIG may come with PL_PTB_SIZE =
1392 - 20. Then it matches case d), and saves some rounds to try with the
1392 - 20 probe. But of course, PLPMTUD doesn't trust TOOBIG packets, and
it will go back to the common searching once the probe with the new size
can't be verified.

As described in rfc8899#section-5.2, when a probe succeeds, there might
be the following state transitions:
- Base -> Search, occurs when probe succeeds with BASE_PLPMTU,
pl.pmtu is not changing,
pl.probe_size increases by SCTP_PL_BIG_STEP,
- Error -> Search, occurs when probe succeeds with BASE_PLPMTU,
pl.pmtu is changed from SCTP_MIN_PLPMTU to SCTP_BASE_PLPMTU,
pl.probe_size increases by SCTP_PL_BIG_STEP.
- Search -> Search Complete, occurs when probe succeeds with the probe
size SCTP_MAX_PLPMTU less than pl.probe_high,
pl.pmtu is not changing, but update *pathmtu* with it,
pl.probe_size is set back to pl.pmtu to double check it.
- Search Complete -> Search, occurs when probe succeeds with the probe
size equal to pl.pmtu,
pl.pmtu is not changing,
pl.probe_size increases by SCTP_PL_MIN_STEP.
So search process can be described as:
1. When it just enters 'Search' state, *pathmtu* is not updated with
pl.pmtu, and probe_size increases by a big step (SCTP_PL_BIG_STEP)
each round.
2. Until pl.probe_high is set when a probe fails, and probe_size
decreases back to pl.pmtu, as described in the last patch.
3. When the probe with the new size succeeds, probe_size changes to
increase by a small step (SCTP_PL_MIN_STEP) due to pl.probe_high
is set.
4. Until probe_size is next to pl.probe_high, the searching finishes and
it goes to 'Complete' state and updates *pathmtu* with pl.pmtu, and
then probe_size is set to pl.pmtu to confirm by once more probe.
5. This probe occurs after "30 * probe_inteval", a much longer time than
that in Search state. Once it is done it goes to 'Search' state again
with probe_size increased by SCTP_PL_MIN_STEP.
As we can see above, during the searching, pl.pmtu changes while *pathmtu*
doesn't. *pathmtu* is only updated when the search finishes by which it
gets an optimal value for it. A big step is used at the beginning until
it gets close to the optimal value, then it changes to a small step until
it has this optimal value.
The small step is also used in 'Complete' until it goes to 'Search' state
again and the probe with 'pmtu + the small step' succeeds, which means a
higher size could be used. Then probe_size changes to increase by a big
step again until it gets close to the next optimal value.
Note that anytime when black hole is detected, it goes directly to 'Base'
state with pl.pmtu set to SCTP_BASE_PLPMTU, as described in the last patch.

The state transition is described in rfc8899#section-5.2,
PROBE_COUNT == MAX_PROBES means the probe fails for MAX times, and the
state transition includes:
- Base -> Error, occurs when BASE_PLPMTU Confirmation Fails,
pl.pmtu is set to SCTP_MIN_PLPMTU,
probe_size is still SCTP_BASE_PLPMTU;
- Search -> Base, occurs when Black Hole Detected,
pl.pmtu is set to SCTP_BASE_PLPMTU,
probe_size is set back to SCTP_BASE_PLPMTU;
- Search Complete -> Base, occurs when Black Hole Detected
pl.pmtu is set to SCTP_BASE_PLPMTU,
probe_size is set back to SCTP_BASE_PLPMTU;
Note a black hole is encountered when a sender is unaware that packets
are not being delivered to the destination endpoint. So it includes the
probe failures with equal probe_size to pl.pmtu, and definitely not
include that with greater probe_size than pl.pmtu. The later one is the
normal probe failure where probe_size should decrease back to pl.pmtu
and pl.probe_high is set. pl.probe_high would be used on HB ACK recv
path in the next patch.

This patch does exactly what rfc8899#section-6.2.1.2 says:
The SCTP sender needs to be able to determine the total size of a
probe packet. The HEARTBEAT chunk could carry a Heartbeat
Information parameter that includes, besides the information
suggested in [RFC4960], the probe size to help an implementation
associate a HEARTBEAT ACK with the size of probe that was sent. The
sender could also use other methods, such as sending a nonce and
verifying the information returned also contains the corresponding
nonce. The length of the PAD chunk is computed by reducing the
probing size by the size of the SCTP common header and the HEARTBEAT
chunk.
Note that HB ACK chunk will carry back whatever HB chunk carried, including
the probe_size we put it in; We also check hbinfo->probe_size in the HB ACK
against link->pl.probe_size to validate this HB ACK chunk.

There are 3 timers described in rfc8899#section-5.1.1:
PROBE_TIMER, PMTU_RAISE_TIMER, CONFIRMATION_TIMER
This patches adds a 'probe_timer' in transport, and it works as either
PROBE_TIMER or PMTU_RAISE_TIMER. At most time, it works as PROBE_TIMER
and expires every a 'probe_interval' time to send the HB probe packet.
When transport pl enters COMPLETE state, it works as PMTU_RAISE_TIMER
and expires in 'probe_interval * 30' time to go back to SEARCH state
and do searching again.
SCTP HB is an acknowledged packet, CONFIRMATION_TIMER is not needed.

As Or Cohen described:
If sctp_destroy_sock is called without sock_net(sk)->sctp.addr_wq_lock
held and sp->do_auto_asconf is true, then an element is removed
from the auto_asconf_splist without any proper locking.
This can happen in the following functions:
1. In sctp_accept, if sctp_sock_migrate fails.
2. In inet_create or inet6_create, if there is a bpf program
attached to BPF_CGROUP_INET_SOCK_CREATE which denies
creation of the sctp socket.
This patch is to fix it by moving the auto_asconf init out of
sctp_init_sock(), by which inet_create()/inet6_create() won't
need to operate it in sctp_destroy_sock() when calling
sk_common_release().
It also makes more sense to do auto_asconf init while binding the
first addr, as auto_asconf actually requires an ANY addr bind,
see it in sctp_addr_wq_timeout_handler().

Normally SCTP_MIB_CURRESTAB is always incremented once asoc enter into
ESTABLISHED from the state < ESTABLISHED and decremented when the asoc
is being deleted.
However, in sctp_sf_do_dupcook_b(), the asoc's state can be changed to
ESTABLISHED from the state >= ESTABLISHED where it shouldn't increment
SCTP_MIB_CURRESTAB. Otherwise, one asoc may increment MIB_CURRESTAB
multiple times but only decrement once at the end.
I was able to reproduce it by using scapy to do the 4-way shakehands,
after that I replayed the COOKIE-ECHO chunk with 'peer_vtag' field
changed to different values, and SCTP_MIB_CURRESTAB was incremented
multiple times and never went back to 0 even when the asoc was freed.
This patch is to fix it by only incrementing SCTP_MIB_CURRESTAB when
the state < ESTABLISHED in sctp_sf_do_dupcook_b().

This is caused by a transport use-after-free issue. When processing a
duplicate COOKIE-ECHO chunk in sctp_sf_do_dupcook_a(), both COOKIE-ACK
and SHUTDOWN chunks are allocated with the transort from the new asoc.
However, later in the sideeffect machine, the old asoc is used to send
them out and old asoc's shutdown_last_sent_to is set to the transport
that SHUTDOWN chunk attached to in sctp_cmd_setup_t2(), which actually
belongs to the new asoc. After the new_asoc is freed and the old asoc
T2 timeout, the old asoc's shutdown_last_sent_to that is already freed
would be accessed in sctp_sf_t2_timer_expire().
Thanks Alexander and Jere for helping dig into this issue.
To fix it, this patch is to do the asoc update first, then allocate
the COOKIE-ACK and SHUTDOWN chunks with the 'updated' old asoc. This
would make more sense, as a chunk from an asoc shouldn't be sent out
with another asoc. We had fixed quite a few issues caused by this.

Found by virtue of ipv6 raw sockets not honouring the per-socket
IP{,V6}_FREEBIND setting.
Based on hits found via:
git grep '[.]ip_nonlocal_bind'
We fix both raw ipv6 sockets to honour IP{,V6}_FREEBIND and IP{,V6}_TRANSPARENT,
and we fix sctp sockets to honour IP{,V6}_TRANSPARENT (they already honoured
FREEBIND), and not just the ipv6 'ip_nonlocal_bind' sysctl.
The helper is defined as:
static inline bool ipv6_can_nonlocal_bind(struct net *net, struct inet_sock *inet) {
return net->ipv6.sysctl.ip_nonlocal_bind || inet->freebind || inet->transparent;
}
so this change only widens the accepted opt-outs and is thus a clean bugfix.
I'm not entirely sure what 'fixes' tag to add, since this is AFAICT an ancient bug,
but IMHO this should be applied to stable kernels as far back as possible.
As such I'm adding a 'fixes' tag with the commit that originally added the helper,
which happened in 4.19. Backporting to older LTS kernels (at least 4.9 and 4.14)
would presumably require open-coding it or backporting the helper as well.

This is because it holds asoc when transport->proto_unreach_timer starts
and puts asoc when the timer stops, and without holding transport the
transport could be freed when the timer is still running.
So fix it by holding/putting transport instead for proto_unreach_timer

Commit 978aa04741 ("sctp: fix some type cast warnings introduced since

value as 32-bit integer, although the value is stored as 16-bit integer.
Later this value is passed to the userspace in 16-bit variable, thus the
user always gets 0 on big-endian platforms. Fix it by reading the __u16
field of sctp_arg union, as reading err field would produce a sparse
warning.

This patch is to enable udp tunneling socks by calling
sctp_udp_sock_start() in sctp_ctrlsock_init(), and
sctp_udp_sock_stop() in sctp_ctrlsock_exit().
Also add sysctl udp_port to allow changing the listening
sock's port by users.

This patch does what the rfc6951#section-5.3 says for ipv4:
"Within the UDP header, the source port MUST be the local UDP
encapsulation port number of the SCTP stack, and the destination port
MUST be the remote UDP encapsulation port number maintained for the
association and the destination address to which the packet is sent
(see Section 5.1).
Because the SCTP packet is the UDP payload, the length of the UDP
packet MUST be the length of the SCTP packet plus the size of the UDP
header.
The SCTP checksum MUST be computed for IPv4 and IPv6, and the UDP
checksum SHOULD be computed for IPv4 and IPv6."
Some places need to be adjusted in sctp_packet_transmit():
1. For non-gso packets, when transport's encap_port is set, sctp
checksum has to be done in sctp_packet_pack(), as the outer
udp will use ip_summed = CHECKSUM_PARTIAL to do the offload
setting for checksum.
2. Delay calling dst_clone() and skb_dst_set() for non-udp packets
until sctp_v4_xmit(), as for udp packets, skb_dst_set() is not
needed before calling udp_tunnel_xmit_skb().
then in sctp_v4_xmit():
1. Go to udp_tunnel_xmit_skb() only when transport->encap_port and
net->sctp.udp_port both are set, as these are one for dst port
and another for src port.
2. For gso packet, SKB_GSO_UDP_TUNNEL_CSUM is set for gso_type, and
with this udp checksum can be done in __skb_udp_tunnel_segment()
for each segments after the sctp gso.
3. inner_mac_header and inner_transport_header are set, as these
will be needed in __skb_udp_tunnel_segment() to find the right
headers.
4. df and ttl are calculated, as these are the required params by
udp_tunnel_xmit_skb().
5. nocheck param has to be false, as "the UDP checksum SHOULD be
computed for IPv4 and IPv6", says in rfc6951#section-5.3.

sctp_mtu_payload() is for calculating the frag size before making
chunks from a msg. So we should only add udphdr size to overhead
when udp socks are listening, as only then sctp can handle the
incoming sctp over udp packets and outgoing sctp over udp packets
will be possible.
Note that we can't do this according to transport->encap_port, as
different transports may be set to different values, while the
chunks were made before choosing the transport, we could not be
able to meet all rfc6951#section-5.6 recommends.

As rfc6951#section-5.4 says:
"After finding the SCTP association (which
includes checking the verification tag), the UDP source port MUST be
stored as the encapsulation port for the destination address the SCTP
packet is received from (see Section 5.1).
When a non-encapsulated SCTP packet is received by the SCTP stack,
the encapsulation of outgoing packets belonging to the same
association and the corresponding destination address MUST be
disabled."
transport encap_port should be updated by a validated incoming packet's
udp src port.
We save the udp src port in sctp_input_cb->encap_port, and then update
the transport in two places:
1. right after vtag is verified, which is required by RFC, and this
allows the existent transports to be updated by the chunks that
can only be processed on an asoc.
2. right before processing the 'init' where the transports are added,
and this allows building a sctp over udp connection by client with
the server not knowing the remote encap port.
3. when processing ootb_pkt and creating the temporary transport for
the reply pkt.
Note that sctp_input_cb->header is removed, as it's not used any more
in sctp.

As it says in rfc6951#section-5.5:
"When receiving ICMP or ICMPv6 response packets, there might not be
enough bytes in the payload to identify the SCTP association that the
SCTP packet triggering the ICMP or ICMPv6 packet belongs to. If a
received ICMP or ICMPv6 packet cannot be related to a specific SCTP
association or the verification tag cannot be verified, it MUST be
discarded silently. In particular, this means that the SCTP stack
MUST NOT rely on receiving ICMP or ICMPv6 messages. Implementation
constraints could prevent processing received ICMP or ICMPv6
messages."
ICMP or ICMPv6 packets need to be handled, and this is implemented by
udp encap sock .encap_err_lookup function.
The .encap_err_lookup function is called in __udp(6)_lib_err_encap()
to confirm this path does need to be updated. For sctp, what we can
do here is check if the corresponding asoc and transport exist.
Note that icmp packet process for sctp over udp is done by udp sock
.encap_err_lookup(), and it means for now we can't do as much as
sctp_v4/6_err() does. Also we can't do the two mappings mentioned

For the gso of sctp over udp packets, sctp_gso_segment() will be called in
skb_udp_tunnel_segment(), we need to set transport_header to sctp header.
As all the current HWs can't handle both crc checksum and udp checksum at
the same time, the crc checksum has to be done in sctp_gso_segment() by
removing the NETIF_F_SCTP_CRC flag from the features.
Meanwhile, if the HW can't do udp checksum, csum and csum_start has to be
set correctly, and udp checksum will be done in __skb_udp_tunnel_segment()
by calling gso_make_checksum().

When calculating ancestor_size with IPv6 enabled, simply using
sizeof(struct ipv6_pinfo) doesn't account for extra bytes needed for
alignment in the struct sctp6_sock. On x86, there aren't any extra
bytes, but on ARM the ipv6_pinfo structure is aligned on an 8-byte
boundary so there were 4 pad bytes that were omitted from the
ancestor_size calculation. This would lead to corruption of the
pd_lobby pointers, causing an oops when trying to free the sctp

There's no need to disable bh in the whole function of
sctp_get_port_local. So fix this cpu stuck by removing
local_bh_disable() called at the beginning, and using
spin_lock_bh() instead.
The same thing was actually done for inet_csk_get_port() in
Commit ea8add2b19 ("tcp/dccp: better use of ephemeral
ports in bind()").
Thanks to Marcelo for pointing the buggy code out.
v1->v2:
- use cond_resched() to yield cpu to other tasks if needed,
as Eric noticed.

The number of output and input streams was never being reduced, eg when
processing received INIT or INIT_ACK chunks.
The effect is that DATA chunks can be sent with invalid stream ids
and then discarded by the remote system.

As said by Linus:
A symmetric naming is only helpful if it implies symmetries in use.
Otherwise it's actively misleading.
In "kzalloc()", the z is meaningful and an important part of what the
caller wants.
In "kzfree()", the z is actively detrimental, because maybe in the
future we really _might_ want to use that "memfill(0xdeadbeef)" or
something. The "zero" part of the interface isn't even _relevant_.
The main reason that kzfree() exists is to clear sensitive information
that should not be leaked to other future users of the same memory
objects.
Rename kzfree() to kfree_sensitive() to follow the example of the recently
added kvfree_sensitive() and make the intention of the API more explicit.
In addition, memzero_explicit() is used to clear the memory to make sure
that it won't get optimized away by the compiler.
The renaming is done by using the command sequence:
git grep -w --name-only kzfree |\
xargs sed -i 's/kzfree/kfree_sensitive/'
followed by some editing of the kfree_sensitive() kerneldoc and adding
a kzfree backward compatibility macro in slab.h.

The UDP reuseport conflict was a little bit tricky.
The net-next code, via bpf-next, extracted the reuseport handling
into a helper so that the BPF sk lookup code could invoke it.
At the same time, the logic for reuseport handling of unconnected
sockets changed via commit efc6b6f6c3
which changed the logic to carry on the reuseport result into the
rest of the lookup loop if we do not return immediately.
This requires moving the reuseport_has_conns() logic into the callers.
While we are here, get rid of inline directives as they do not belong
in foo.c files.
The other changes were cases of more straightforward overlapping
modifications.

The variable status is being initialized with a value that is never read
and it is being updated later with a new value. The initialization is
redundant and can be removed. Also put the variable declarations into
reverse christmas tree order.

This sockopt accepts two kinds of parameters, using struct
sctp_sack_info and struct sctp_assoc_value. The mentioned commit didn't
notice an implicit cast from the smaller (latter) struct to the bigger
one (former) when copying the data from the user space, which now leads
to an attempt to write beyond the buffer (because it assumes the storing
buffer is bigger than the parameter itself).
Fix it by allocating a sctp_sack_info on stack and filling it out based
on the small struct for the compat case.
Changelog stole from an earlier patch from Marcelo Ricardo Leitner.

When adding a stream with stream reconf, the new stream firstly is in
CLOSED state but new out chunks can still be enqueued. Then once gets
the confirmation from the peer, the state will change to OPEN.
However, if the peer denies, it needs to roll back the stream. But when
doing that, it only sets the stream outcnt back, and the chunks already
in the new stream don't get purged. It caused these chunks can still be
dequeued in sctp_outq_dequeue_data().
As its stream is still in CLOSE, the chunk will be enqueued to the head
again by sctp_outq_head_data(). This chunk will never be sent out, and
the chunks after it can never be dequeued. The assoc will be 'hung' in
a dead loop of sending this chunk.
To fix it, this patch is to purge these chunks already in the new
stream by calling sctp_stream_shrink_out() when failing to do the
addstream reconf.
