With the locking cleanup in place (from "OF: Fixup resursive
locking code paths"), we can now do the conversion from the
rw_lock to a raw spinlock as required for preempt-rt.
The previous cleanup and this conversion were originally
separate since they predated when mainline got raw spinlock (in
commit c2f21ce2e3 "locking: Implement new raw_spinlock").
So, at that point in time, the cleanup was considered plausible
for mainline, but not this conversion. In any case, we've kept
them separate as it makes for easier review and better bisection.

A few new features this merge-window. The most important one is
probably, that dma-debug now warns if a dma-handle is not checked with
dma_mapping_error by the device driver. This requires minor changes to
some architectures which make use of dma-debug. Most of these changes
have the respective Acks by the Arch-Maintainers.
Besides that there are updates to the AMD IOMMU driver for refactor the
IOMMU-Groups support and to make sure it does not trigger a hardware
erratum.
The OMAP changes (for which I pulled in a branch from Tony Lindgren's

is in the file arch/arm/mach-omap2/clock44xx_data.c which is deleted in

conflict. Similar changes are done in the arm-soc tree in the common
clock framework migration. A missing hunk from the patch in the IOMMU

The basic scheme of the block mode assembler is that we start by
enabling the FPU, loading the key into the floating point registers,
then iterate calling the encrypt/decrypt routine for each block.
For the 256-bit key cases, we run short on registers in the unrolled
loops.
So the {ENCRYPT,DECRYPT}_256_2() macros reload the key registers that
get clobbered.
The unrolled macros, {ENCRYPT,DECRYPT}_256(), are not mindful of this.
So if we have a mix of multi-block and single-block calls, the
single-block unrolled 256-bit encrypt/decrypt can run with some
of the key registers clobbered.
Handle this by always explicitly loading those registers before using
the non-unrolled 256-bit macro.
This was discovered thanks to all of the new test cases added by
Jussi Kivilinna.

This function is used by sparc, powerpc tile and arm64 for compat support.
The patch adds a generic implementation with a wrapper for PowerPC to do

to keep it bisectable, otherwise kernel building may fail with mismatched

In commit d0a21265df David Rientjes unified various archs'
module_alloc implementation (including x86) and removed the graduitous
shortcut for size == 0.
Then, in commit de7d2b567d, Joe Perches added a warning for
zero-length vmallocs, which can happen without kallsyms on modules
with no init sections (eg. zlib_deflate).
Fix this once and for all; the module code has to handle zero length
anyway, so get it right at the caller and remove the now-gratuitous
checks within the arch-specific module_alloc implementations.

Pull big execve/kernel_thread/fork unification series from Al Viro:
"All architectures are converted to new model. Quite a bit of that
stuff is actually shared with architecture trees; in such cases it's
literally shared branch pulled by both, not a cherry-pick.
A lot of ugliness and black magic is gone (-3KLoC total in this one):
- kernel_thread()/kernel_execve()/sys_execve() redesign.
We don't do syscalls from kernel anymore for either kernel_thread()
or kernel_execve():
kernel_thread() is essentially clone(2) with callback run before we
return to userland, the callbacks either never return or do
successful do_execve() before returning.
kernel_execve() is a wrapper for do_execve() - it doesn't need to
do transition to user mode anymore.
As a result kernel_thread() and kernel_execve() are
arch-independent now - they live in kernel/fork.c and fs/exec.c
resp. sys_execve() is also in fs/exec.c and it's completely
architecture-independent.
- daemonize() is gone, along with its parts in fs/*.c
- struct pt_regs * is no longer passed to do_fork/copy_process/
copy_thread/do_execve/search_binary_handler/->load_binary/do_coredump.
- sys_fork()/sys_vfork()/sys_clone() unified; some architectures
still need wrappers (ones with callee-saved registers not saved in
pt_regs on syscall entry), but the main part of those suckers is in
kernel/fork.c now."

Here's the big tty/serial tree set of changes for 3.8-rc1.
Contained in here is a bunch more reworks of the tty port layer from Jiri and
bugfixes from Alan, along with a number of other tty and serial driver updates
by the various driver authors.
Also, Jiri has been coerced^Wconvinced to be the co-maintainer of the TTY

Fixed up some trivial conflicts in the staging tree, due to the fwserial
driver having come in both ways (but fixed up a bit in the serial tree),
and the ioctl handling in the dgrp driver having been done slightly
differently (staging tree got that one right, and removed both
TIOCGSOFTCAR and TIOCSSOFTCAR).

Newer versions of binutils mark '_end' as 'B' instead of 'A' for
whatever reason.
To be honest, the piggyback code doesn't actually care what kind
of symbol _start and _end are, it just wants to find them and
record the address.
So remove the type from the match strings.

of/address: sparc: Declare of_iomap as an extern function for sparc again
This bug-fix makes sure that of_iomap is defined extern for sparc so that the
sparc-specific implementation of_iomap is once again used when including
include/linux/of_address.h in a sparc context. OF_GPIO that is now available for
sparc relies on this.
The bug was inadvertently introduced in a850a75, "of/address: add empty static
inlines for !CONFIG_OF", that added a static dummy inline for of_iomap when
!CONFIG_OF_ADDRESS. However, CONFIG_OF_ADDRESS is never defined for sparc, but
there is a sparc-specific implementation /arch/sparc/kernel/of_device_common.c.
This fix takes the same approach as 0bce04b that solved the equivalent problem
for of_address_to_resource.

If a signal handler is executed on altstack and another signal comes,
we will end up with rt_sigreturn() on return from the second handler
getting -EPERM from do_sigaltstack(). It's perfectly OK, since we
are not asking to change the settings; in fact, they couldn't have been
changed during the second handler execution exactly because we'd been
on altstack all along. 64bit sigreturn on sparc treats any error from
do_sigaltstack() as "SIGSEGV now"; we need to switch to the same semantics
we are using on other architectures.

In order to promote interoperability between userspace tracers and ftrace,
add a trace_clock that reports raw TSC values which will then be recorded
in the ring buffer. Userspace tracers that also record TSCs are then on
exactly the same time base as the kernel and events can be unambiguously
interlaced.
Tested: Enabled a tracepoint and the "tsc" trace_clock and saw very large
timestamp values.

Move arch-specific bits out of generic code.
v3:
Rename "x86-tsc", cleanups
v7:

We tried linking in a single built object to hold the device table,
but only works if all of the sparc64 crypto modules get built the same
way (modular vs. non-modular).
Just include the device ID stub into each driver source file so that
the table gets compiled into the correct result in all cases.

Sparc32 already supported it, as a consequence of using the
generic atomic64 implementation. And the sparc64 implementation
is rather trivial.
This allows us to set ARCH_HAS_ATOMIC64_DEC_IF_POSITIVE for all
of sparc, and avoid the annoying warning from lib/atomic64_test.c
