fd2c7fe0b4 iwmc3200wifi: simplify calibration map
The patch simplifies calibration map by combining the init_calib_map
and periodic_calib_map into one calib_map in struct iwm_conf. Now the
initial calibration map is stored in the lower 16 bits of calib_map
and the periodic calibration map is stored in the higher 16 bits.

dd13fd6498 iwmc3200wifi: replace netif_rx with netif_rx_ni
The patch uses netif_rx_ni() over netif_rx() to post buffers to
upper network code because it is always scheduled in a workqueue.
The problem was first observed from a dynamic ticks warning:

7d5ca3b8b2 ath9k: differentiate quality reporting between legacy and HT configurations
We were not differentiating quality between legacy and HT
configurations. We change this to consider the differences.

New theory for reporting quality:

At a hardware RSSI of 45 you will be able to use MCS 7 reliably.
At a hardware RSSI of 45 you will be able to use MCS 15 reliably.
At a hardware RSSI of 35 you should be able use 54 Mbps reliably.

MCS 7 is the highets MCS index usable by a 1-stream device.
MCS 15 is the highest MCS index usable by a 2-stream device.

All ath9k devices are either 1-stream or 2-stream.

How many bars you see is derived from the qual reporting.

A more elaborate scheme can be used here but it requires tables
of SNR/throughput for each possible mode used. For the MCS table
you can refer to the wireless wiki:

http://wireless.kernel.org/en/developers/Documentation/ieee80211/802.11n

23b149c189 libertas: fix card cleanup order in SDIO driver
The SDIO driver sets the surpriseremoved flag before calling
lbs_remove_card. With IEEE PS enabled, lbs_remove_card must issue a
command to exit IEEE PS mode, however with that flag set the command
path is blocked and the card is never taken out of IEEE PS mode. This
step is required to ensure that the driver can be reloaded. This patch
moves the setting of surpriseremoved after lbs_remove_card is called.

Tested with V9 firmware by ensuring that IEEE PS is disabled when the
driver is removed. Reloading the driver is not fully tested due to a
separate issue with module reload in the SDIO driver, however this
patch at least leaves the card in a better state when we bring the
driver down.

efcfd1f28f libertas: correct card cleanup order in SPI driver
The SPI driver does a couple of card cleanup steps in the wrong order on
module removal. If IEEE PS is enabled, this results in the card being
left in IEEE PS mode and subsequent failures to reload the module. The
problem is that the surpriseremoved flag is set before calling
lbs_remove_card, but that function needs to issue a command to exit IEEE
PS mode (the flag blocks the command path). In addition, lbs_stop_card
should be called first because it clears out any pending commands.

Tested on a GSPI device with V9 firmware by confirming that we can
reload the module with or without IEEE PS enabled.

Also fix a warning from the wrong uint format in a printk.

ce8d096dac libertas: copy WPA keys to priv when associating
Libertas currently maintains a copy of the WPA unicast and group keys
when using WPA or WPA2. This copy is checked when deciding whether or
not to return to sleep in IEEE PS mode but the actual copying back to
priv was omitted, which breaks IEEE PS mode with WPA/WPA2 when one
issues commands that require temporarily keeping the device awake.

This patch introduces the omitted copy-back of the keys so that IEEE PS
functions correctly in WPA/WPA2 mode. Thanks to Dan Williams for
clearing up the issue.

aff89a9b90 cfg80211: introduce nl80211 testmode command
This introduces a new NL80211_CMD_TESTMODE for testing
and calibration use with nl80211. There's no multiplexing
like like iwpriv had, and the command is not available by
default, it needs to be explicitly enabled in Kconfig and
shouldn't be enabled in most kernels.

The command requires a wiphy index or interface index to
identify the device to operate on, and the new TESTDATA
attribute. There also is API for sending replies to the
command, and testmode multicast messages (on a testmode
multicast group).

I've also updated mac80211 to be able to pass through the
command to the driver, since it itself doesn't implement
the testmode command.

Additionally, to give people an idea of how to use the
command, I've added a little code to hwsim that makes use
of the new command to set the powersave mode, this is
currently done via debugfs and should remain there, and
the testmode command only serves as an example of how to
use this best -- with nested netlink attributes in the
TESTDATA attribute. A hwsim testmode tool can be found at
http://git.sipsolutions.net/hwsim.git/. This tool is BSD
licensed so people can easily use it as a basis for their
own internal fabrication and validation tools.

ea60a6aaf5 orinoco: initiate cfg80211 conversion
Initialise and register a wiphy.

Store the orinoco_private structure in the new wiphy, and use the
net_device private area to store the wireless_dev. This results in a
change to the way we navigate from a net_device to the driver private
orinoco_private, which we encapsulate in the inline function ndev_priv.
Most of the remaining calls to netdev_priv are thus replaced by
ndev_priv.

We can immediately rely on cfg80211 to handle SIOCGIWNAME, so
orinoco_ioctl_getname is removed.

f1d58c2521 mac80211: push rx status into skb->cb
Within mac80211, we often need to copy the rx status into
skb->cb. This is wasteful, as drivers could be building it
in there to start with. This patch changes the API so that
drivers are expected to pass the RX status in skb->cb, now
accessible as IEEE80211_SKB_RXCB(skb). It also updates all
drivers to pass the rx status in there, but only by making
them memcpy() it into place before the call to the receive
function (ieee80211_rx(_irqsafe)). Each driver can now be

ff25839bf0 wl12xx: cmd and acx interface rework
Rework cmd and acx interfaces, it was just too confusing earlier. Now
all commands need to contain all the needed headers, either just cmd
headers or both cmd and acx headers. This accomplish to remove the
extra copy done for each command. The interfaces are now properly
documented as well.

Also try to make all commands safe for DMA transfers. I might have missed
some, but most of them should be fixed now.

And this is not all! As a free bonus you will also get some cosmetic

e594e96e8a cxgb3: Fix crash caused by stashing wrong netdev_queue
Commit c3a8c5b6 ("cxgb3: move away from LLTX") exposed a bug in how
cxgb3 looks up the netdev_queue it stashes away in a qset during
initialization. For multiport devices, the TX queue index it uses is
offset by the first_qset index of each port. This leads to a crash
once LLTX is removed, since hard_start_xmit is called with one TX
queue lock held, while the TX reclaim timer task grabs a different
(wrong) TX queue lock when it frees skbs.

Fix this by removing the first_qset offset used to look up the TX
queue passed into t3_sge_alloc_qset() from setup_sge_qsets().

8faa2a786a ixgbe: Fix coexistence of FCoE and Flow Director in 82599
Fix coexistence of Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) and Flow Director (FDIR)
in 82599 and remove the disabling of FDIR when FCoE is enabled.

Currently, FDIR is turned off when FCoE is enabled under the assumption that
FCoE is always enabled with DCB being turned on. However, FDIR does not have
to be turned off all the time when FCoE is enabled since FCoE can be enabled
without DCB being turned on, e.g., use link pause only. This patch makes sure
that when DCB is turned on or off, FDIR is turned on or off correspondingly;
and when FCoE is enabled, it does not disable FDIR, rather, it will have FDIR
set up properly so FCoE and FDIR can coexist regardless of DCB being on or off.

47ab3840a3 p54: tx refused but queue active
In the mainline kernel, p54usb will fail because the TX queue length can
become < 0. This problem has been reported as Bugzilla #13725. The failure
is expressed by the following message in the logs:

804ef71ee1 Atheros Kconfig needs to be dependent on WLAN_80211
Atheros top level menu needs a "depends WLAN_80211" to properly indent
within menuconfig and xconfig interfaces.

This is purely a visual issue but it effects all subsequent drivers.
The issue is the top level menu does not include a dependency on
WLAN_80211 so within the tree structure, Atheros is at the same level as
WLAN_80211 but when WLAN_80211 collapsed, the menu disappears along with
all subsequent drives, so it is really a subordinate.

cbfe89c67b ath9k: Fix leak in tx descriptor
When we reclaim the tx desc, we always assume that the
last desc is a holding desc, which is not true, and skip it.
If the tx queue is drained during channel change, internal

descriptor and we fail to reclaim them. This results in the
following two issues.

1. Tx stuck - We drop all the frames coming from upper layer
due to shortage in tx desc.

2. Crash - If we fail to reclaim a tx descriptor, we miss to
update the tx BA window with the seq number of the frame
associated to that desc, which, at some point, result in
the following crash due to an assert failure in ath_tx_addto_baw().

This patch fixes these two issues.

ef0657c49e drivers/net/cs89x0.c: Avoid using magic number in set_dma_mode
The constant DMA_RX_MODE is defined to be 0x14 in the local include file

b7cb8c2c82 e1000: fix flow control thresholds
when testing the jumbo frames with pages patch, the stats would
show rx_missed errors (dropped packets) even when connected to a
link partner with flow control enabled.

this indicates that for this MTU (9000) the flow control
thresholds are not adjusting correctly.

In fact, before this change, the FCRTH (xoff threshold) is 36864
when the fifo size is only 40000, with 9000 byte MTU.

fix it so that we at least have room for one frame after we send
the xoff.

edbbb3ca10 e1000: implement jumbo receive with partial descriptors
This is code extremely similar to what is committed in e1000e
already.

e1000 will no longer request 32kB slab buffers to support jumbo
frames on PCI/PCI-X adapters. This will significantly reduce the
likelyhood of order:3 allocation failures.

This new code adds support for using pages as receive buffers,
and the driver will chain multiple pages together to build a
jumbo frame for OS consumption.

The hardware takes a power of two buffer size and will
dump as much data as it can receive into 1 or more buffers.

The benefits of applying this are
1) stop akpm's dissing :-) of this lame e1000 behavior [1]
2) more efficient memory allocation (half) when using jumbo
frames, which will also allow for much better socket utilization
with jumbos since the socket is charged for the full allocation
of each receive buffer, regardless of how much is used.
3) this was a feature request by a customer
4) copybreak for small packets < 256 bytes still applies

adjust using this command:

3942453948 drivers/net/smsc911x.c: Fix resource size off by 1 error
The call resource_size(res) returns res->end - res->start + 1 and thus the
second change is semantics-preserving. res_size is then used as the second
argument of a call to request_mem_region, and the memory allocated by this
call appears to be the same as what is released in the two calls to
release_mem_region. So the size argument for those calls should be
resource_size(size) as well. Alternatively, in the second call to
release_mem_region, the second argument could be res_size, as that variable
has already been initialized at the point of this call.

The problem was found using the following semantic patch:

d23e43658a tun: Fix device unregister race
It is currently possible for an asynchronous device unregister
to cause the same tun device to be unregistered twice. This
is because the unregister in tun_chr_close only checks whether
__tun_get(tfile) != NULL. This however has nothing to do with
whether the device has already been unregistered. All it tells
you is whether __tun_detach has been called.

This patch fixes this by using the most obvious thing to test
whether the device has been unregistered.

It also moves __tun_detach outside of rtnl_unlock since nothing
that it does requires that lock.

Occasionally we may see an interrupt without an event in the eq.

7d3cabbcc8 e1000e: disable K1 at 1000Mbps for 82577/82578
This workaround is required for an issue in hardware where noise on the
interconnect between the MAC and PHY could be generated by a lower power
mode (K1) at 1000Mbps resulting in bad packets. Disable K1 while at 1000
Mbps but keep it enabled for 10/100Mbps and when the cable is disconnected.

906e8d9792 e1000e: delay second read of PHY_STATUS register on failure of first read
Some PHYs may require two reads of the PHY_STATUS register to determine the
link status. If the PHY is being accessed by another thread it is possible
the first read could timeout and fail. In this case, put a delay in so
the second read will pick up the correct link status.

fc0c7760ae e1000e: delay after LCD reset and proper checks for PHY configuration done
A previous workaround for 82578 to avoid link stall causes some PHY
registers to get cleared inadvertently. Add a delay after all LCD resets
to make sure PHY registers are in a stable state before continuing. Also,
after resets check the EEC register for the state of PHY configuration
performed by the MAC for ICH9 and earlier parts (as done before), but check
the LAN_INIT_DONE bit in the STATUS register for ICH10 and newer parts (EEC
doesn't exist in these newer parts).

5da43c1a78 ixgbe: fix inconsistent SFP/SFP+ failure results.
Currently if we loaded the driver, insert an unsupported module, and then
attempt to "ifconfig up" the device it will be brought down but the netdev
would not be unregistered. This behavior is different than all other
code paths. This patch corrects that by down'ing the device and then
scheduling the sfp_config_module_task tasklet. The tasklet will detect
this condition (like it does with other code paths) and do the
unregister_netdev().

I also removed the log message as this condition (an unsupported SFP+
module) will be logged in sfp_config_module_task.

19343de279 ixgbe: fix regression on some 82598 adapters
The change to check the SFP+ module again on open() was
causing the XFP (non-SFP+) adapters to be rejected. We
only want to try and re-identify the SFP+ module if the
original probe found that this device was an SFP+ device.
So for this code path (driver loaded with SFP module, module
inserted, ifconfig up of the device) the type will be
ixgbe_phy_unknown for an unidentified SFP+ module. So we
only check if that is the case.

This problem also shows up on Copper devices.

63d6e1d80a ixgbe: fix issues with failing to detect insert of unsupported module
Several small fixes around negative test case of the insertion of a
IXGBE_ERR_NOT_SUPPORTED module.

- mdio45_probe call was always failing due to mdio.prtad not being
set. The function set to mdio.mdio_read was still working as we just
happen to always be at prtad == 0. This will allow us to set the phy_id
and phy.type correctly now.

- There was timing issue with i2c calls when initiated from a tasklet.
A small delay was added to allow the electrical oscillation to calm down.

- Logic change in ixgbe_sfp_task that allows NOT_SUPPORTED condition
to be recognized.

7fab3bfe08 qlge: Fix MAC address bonding issue.
This addes functionality to set/clear the MAC address in the hardware
when the link goes up/down.
The MAC address register is persistent across function resets. In
bonding the same address can bounce from one port to the other. This
can cause packets to be delivered to the wrong port.
This patch clears the MAC address in the hardware when the link is down
and sets it when the link comes up.
It was found that pulling/pushing the cable from one port to another
causes the same MAC address to be in both ports.
The next patch in this series will use this functionality as well.
