mm/treewide: rename CONFIG_HAVE_FAST_GUP to CONFIG_HAVE_GUP_FAST
Nowadays, we call it "GUP-fast", the external interface includes functions like "get_user_pages_fast()", and we renamed all internal functions to reflect that as well. Let's make the config option reflect that. treewide: use initializer for struct vm_unmapped_area_info
Future changes will need to add a new member to struct vm_unmapped_area_info. This would cause trouble for any call site that doesn't initialize the struct. Currently every caller sets each member manually, so if new ones are added they will be uninitialized and the core code parsing the struct will see garbage in the new member. It could be possible to initialize the new member manually to 0 at each call site. This and a couple other options were discussed. Having some struct vm_unmapped_area_info instances not zero initialized will put those sites at risk of feeding garbage into vm_unmapped_area(), if the convention is to zero initialize the struct and any new field addition missed a call site that initializes each field manually. So it is useful to do things similar across the kernel. The consensus (see links) was that in general the best way to accomplish taking into account both code cleanliness and minimizing the chance of introducing bugs, was to do C99 static initialization. As in: struct vm_unmapped_area_info info = {}; With this method of initialization, the whole struct will be zero initialized, and any statements setting fields to zero will be unneeded. The change should not leave cleanup at the call sides. While iterating though the possible solutions a few archs kindly acked other variations that still zero initialized the struct. These sites have been modified in previous changes using the pattern acked by the respective arch. So to be reduce the chance of bugs via uninitialized fields, perform a tree wide change using the consensus for the best general way to do this change. Use C99 static initializing to zero the struct and remove and statements that simply set members to zero. mm: convert arch_clear_hugepage_flags to take a folio
All implementations that aren't no-ops just set a bit in the flags, and we want to use the folio flags rather than the page flags for that. Rename it to arch_clear_hugetlb_flags() while we're touching it so nobody thinks it's used for THP. sh: remove use of PG_arch_1 on individual pages
Patch series "Various page->flags cleanups". The first two patches are bug fixes, although I'm not sure that either architecture will have noticed. There aren't a lot of uses of page->flags left! The big build-up here is to reworking stable_page_flags(), which will definitely be a user-visible change. I think a welcome one, given the special case we had to spread the Slab flag into all tail pages. This patch (of 10): Since switching to the new page table range API, we do not set the PG_arch_1 (aka dcache clean) flag on tail pages, only on the folio. Test it on the folio. Also use page_mapped() instead of page_mapcount() as it is more efficient. arch, crash: move arch_crash_save_vmcoreinfo() out to file vmcore_info.c

That's not right because arch_crash_save_vmcoreinfo() is used to export arch specific vmcoreinfo. CONFIG_VMCORE_INFO is supposed to control its compiling in. However, CONFIG_VMVCORE_INFO could be independent of CONFIG_KEXEC_CORE, e.g CONFIG_PROC_KCORE=y will select CONFIG_VMVCORE_INFO. Or CONFIG_KEXEC/CONFIG_KEXEC_FILE is set while CONFIG_CRASH_DUMP is not set, it will report linking error. So, on arm, s390, ppc and sh, move arch_crash_save_vmcoreinfo out to a new file vmcore_info.c. Let CONFIG_VMCORE_INFO decide if compiling in arch_crash_save_vmcoreinfo(). Introduce cpu_dcache_is_aliasing() across all architectures
Introduce a generic way to query whether the data cache is virtually aliased on all architectures. Its purpose is to ensure that subsystems which are incompatible with virtually aliased data caches (e.g. FS_DAX) can reliably query this. For data cache aliasing, there are three scenarios dependending on the architecture. Here is a breakdown based on my understanding: A) The data cache is always aliasing: * arc * csky * m68k (note: shared memory mappings are incoherent ? SHMLBA is missing there.) * sh * parisc B) The data cache aliasing is statically known or depends on querying CPU state at runtime: * arm (cache_is_vivt() || cache_is_vipt_aliasing()) * mips (cpu_has_dc_aliases) * nios2 (NIOS2_DCACHE_SIZE > PAGE_SIZE) * sparc32 (vac_cache_size > PAGE_SIZE) * sparc64 (L1DCACHE_SIZE > PAGE_SIZE) * xtensa (DCACHE_WAY_SIZE > PAGE_SIZE) C) The data cache is never aliasing: * alpha * arm64 (aarch64) * hexagon * loongarch (but with incoherent write buffers, which are disabled since commit |

kernel.h: removed REPEAT_BYTE from kernel.h
This patch creates wordpart.h and includes it in asm/word-at-a-time.h for all architectures. WORD_AT_A_TIME_CONSTANTS depends on kernel.h because of REPEAT_BYTE. Moving this to another header and including it where necessary allows us to not include the bloated kernel.h. Making this implicit dependency on REPEAT_BYTE explicit allows for later improvements in the lib/string.c inclusion list. Networking changes for 6.8.
Core & protocols ---------------- - Analyze and reorganize core networking structs (socks, netdev, netns, mibs) to optimize cacheline consumption and set up build time warnings to safeguard against future header changes. This improves TCP performances with many concurrent connections up to 40%. - Add page-pool netlink-based introspection, exposing the memory usage and recycling stats. This helps indentify bad PP users and possible leaks. - Refine TCP/DCCP source port selection to no longer favor even source port at connect() time when IP_LOCAL_PORT_RANGE is set. This lowers the time taken by connect() for hosts having many active connections to the same destination. - Refactor the TCP bind conflict code, shrinking related socket structs. - Refactor TCP SYN-Cookie handling, as a preparation step to allow arbitrary SYN-Cookie processing via eBPF. - Tune optmem_max for 0-copy usage, increasing the default value to 128KB and namespecifying it. - Allow coalescing for cloned skbs coming from page pools, improving RX performances with some common configurations. - Reduce extension header parsing overhead at GRO time. - Add bridge MDB bulk deletion support, allowing user-space to request the deletion of matching entries. - Reorder nftables struct members, to keep data accessed by the datapath first. - Introduce TC block ports tracking and use. This allows supporting multicast-like behavior at the TC layer. - Remove UAPI support for retired TC qdiscs (dsmark, CBQ and ATM) and classifiers (RSVP and tcindex). - More data-race annotations. - Extend the diag interface to dump TCP bound-only sockets. - Conditional notification of events for TC qdisc class and actions. - Support for WPAN dynamic associations with nearby devices, to form a sub-network using a specific PAN ID. - Implement SMCv2.1 virtual ISM device support. - Add support for Batman-avd mulicast packet type. BPF --- - Tons of verifier improvements: - BPF register bounds logic and range support along with a large test suite - log improvements - complete precision tracking support for register spills - track aligned STACK_ZERO cases as imprecise spilled registers. Two types of offloads are supported right now, that is, TX timestamp and TX checksum offload. - Fix kCFI bugs in BPF all forms of indirect calls from BPF into kernel and from kernel into BPF work with CFI enabled. This allows BPF to work with CONFIG_FINEIBT=y. - Change BPF verifier logic to validate global subprograms lazily instead of unconditionally before the main program, so they can be guarded using BPF CO-RE techniques. - Support uid/gid options when mounting bpffs. - Add a new kfunc which acquires the associated cgroup of a task within a specific cgroup v1 hierarchy where the latter is identified by its id. - Extend verifier to allow bpf_refcount_acquire() of a map value field obtained via direct load which is a use-case needed in sched_ext. - Add BPF link_info support for uprobe multi link along with bpftool integration for the latter. - Support for VLAN tag in XDP hints. - Remove deprecated bpfilter kernel leftovers given the project is developed in user-space (https://github.com/facebook/bpfilter). Misc ---- - Support for parellel TC self-tests execution. - Increase MPTCP self-tests coverage. - Updated the bridge documentation, including several so-far undocumented features. - Convert all the net self-tests to run in unique netns, to avoid random failures due to conflict and allow concurrent runs. - Add TCP-AO self-tests. - Add kunit tests for both cfg80211 and mac80211. - Autogenerate Netlink families documentation from YAML spec. - Add yml-gen support for fixed headers and recursive nests, the tool can now generate user-space code for all genetlink families for which we have specs. - A bunch of additional module descriptions fixes. - Catch incorrect freeing of pages belonging to a page pool. asm-generic cleanups for 6.8
A series from Baoquan He cleans up the asm-generic/io.h to remove the ioremap_uc() definition from everything except x86, which still needs it for pre-PAT systems. This series notably contains a patch from Jiaxun Yang that converts MIPS to use asm-generic/io.h like every other architecture does, enabling future cleanups. Some of my own patches fix -Wmissing-prototype warnings in architecture specific code across several architectures. This is now needed as the warning is enabled by default. There are still some remaining warnings in minor platforms, but the series should catch most of the widely used ones make them more consistent with one another. David McKay fixes a bug in __generic_cmpxchg_local() when this is used on 64-bit architectures. This could currently only affect parisc64 and sparc64. Additional cleanups address from Linus Walleij, Uwe Kleine-König, Thomas Huth, and Kefeng Wang help reduce unnecessary inconsistencies between architectures. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIzBAABCgAdFiEEiK/NIGsWEZVxh/FrYKtH/8kJUicFAmWeak8ACgkQYKtH/8kJ UidSiQ/+LL1WTO9d3Zx5HI0GGGjaIYpYs6jUNSf9Y5GPQiOrvjfEWj7CU11/4vxl GlQRpRyncYm8Eiz0Qu+aNxZFiiMah8Uful75yfbX8P1L4EPTbAYNDjkyNJrTjIAK jPK4sl8awIrapOeFUz++PsEj22R/4Is4f0mo+CqoCkL5RKlHe5oFdXzcwjmds4yK CvU6Ldn+M7FZ3EItMdjXaB3D3HS9uictFiO5JByZY8p+IcqgNRI/iHNnZIMsltJ+ XjDi0DG+x4jCj6teElSchw7AofE4OcNSP3xbR1PLKv6+xBLGYaAGZhNuPTz88eV/ Gj0loDQrrR5McGUfDBRHK9zN2Jd0O/FKnfh9kLOt1FLFyGPvC78Q/2HkpVCjbBr2 Pr1aqhLDHA+tGNSsThsV8RUa8/tiEnxAki43tfBFS3SEKhtQsTm2g1z4miwbE3p0 BJIrSgTqrP/SBq7a9z/thPrkzdZcNuA9FUETTbaMeUlJS51n1V9E5A1t7sOG7jaI vV/gbuR6FjvD49mTyQiOSCt3V4ygRqgN1Q+C4QM8WLqq2keUq0AhGodquv8F78in J3x2j2r27lHY7jKf8B0dua/JXAsF20u8qD6yDQ9ymkjt/MWhGXBgK0jpT7RTIuMS e2jmTywUVD4UohAcx3inkOojUhIJ5KDB0I4Pzv4zWcHNbyFNKcY= =4VQl -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'asm-generic-6.8' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arnd/asm-generic Pull asm-generic cleanups from Arnd Bergmann: "A series from Baoquan He cleans up the asm-generic/io.h to remove the ioremap_uc() definition from everything except x86, which still needs it for pre-PAT systems. The first syscall simply lists the LSMs enabled, while the second and third get and set the current process' LSM attributes. Yes, these syscalls may provide similar functionality to what can be found under /proc or /sys, but they were designed to support multiple, simultaneaous (stacked) LSMs from the start as opposed to the current /proc based solutions which were created at a time when only one LSM was allowed to be active at a given time. We have spent considerable time discussing ways to extend the existing /proc interfaces to support multiple, simultaneaous LSMs and even our best ideas have been far too ugly to support as a kernel API; after +20 years in the kernel, I felt the LSM layer had established itself enough to justify a handful of syscalls. Support amongst the individual LSM developers has been nearly unanimous, with a single objection coming from Tetsuo (TOMOYO) as he is worried that the LSM_ID_XXX token concept will make it more difficult for out-of-tree LSMs to survive. Several members of the LSM community have demonstrated the ability for out-of-tree LSMs to continue to exist by picking high/unused LSM_ID values as well as pointing out that many kernel APIs rely on integer identifiers, e.g. syscalls (!), but unfortunately Tetsuo's objections remain. My personal opinion is that while I have no interest in penalizing out-of-tree LSMs, I'm not going to penalize in-tree development to support out-of-tree development, and I view this as a necessary step forward to support the push for expanded LSM stacking and reduce our reliance on /proc and /sys which has occassionally been problematic for some container users. Finally, we have included the linux-api folks on (all?) recent revisions of the patchset and addressed all of their concerns. - Add a new security_file_ioctl_compat() LSM hook to handle the 32-bit ioctls on 64-bit systems problem. This patch includes support for all of the existing LSMs which provide ioctl hooks, although it turns out only SELinux actually cares about the individual ioctls. It is worth noting that while Casey (Smack) and Tetsuo (TOMOYO) did not give explicit ACKs to this patch, they did both indicate they are okay with the changes. - Fix a potential memory leak in the CALIPSO code when IPv6 is disabled at boot. While it's good that we are fixing this, I doubt this is something users are seeing in the wild as you need to both disable IPv6 and then attempt to configure IPv6 labeled networking via NetLabel/CALIPSO; that just doesn't make much sense. Normally this would go through netdev, but Jakub asked me to take this patch and of all the trees I maintain, the LSM tree seemed like the best fit. - Update the LSM MAINTAINERS entry with additional information about our process docs, patchwork, bug reporting, etc. I also noticed that the Lockdown LSM is missing a dedicated MAINTAINERS entry so I've added that to the pull request. I've been working with one of the major Lockdown authors/contributors to see if they are willing to step up and assume a Lockdown maintainer role; hopefully that will happen soon, but in the meantime I'll continue to look after it. - Add a handful of mailmap entries for Serge Hallyn and myself. * tag 'lsm-pr-20240105' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/pcmoore/lsm: (27 commits) lsm: new security_file_ioctl_compat() hook lsm: Add a __counted_by() annotation to lsm_ctx.ctx calipso: fix memory leak in netlbl_calipso_add_pass() selftests: remove the LSM_ID_IMA check in lsm/lsm_list_modules_test MAINTAINERS: add an entry for the lockdown LSM MAINTAINERS: update the LSM entry mailmap: add entries for Serge Hallyn's dead accounts mailmap: update/replace my old email addresses lsm: mark the lsm_id variables are marked as static lsm: convert security_setselfattr() to use memdup_user() lsm: align based on pointer length in lsm_fill_user_ctx() lsm: consolidate buffer size handling into lsm_fill_user_ctx() lsm: correct error codes in security_getselfattr() lsm: cleanup the size counters in security_getselfattr() lsm: don't yet account for IMA in LSM_CONFIG_COUNT calculation lsm: drop LSM_ID_IMA LSM: selftests for Linux Security Module syscalls SELinux: Add selfattr hooks AppArmor: Add selfattr hooks Smack: implement setselfattr and getselfattr hooks ... |

This is hopefully the beginning of the end of the saga that started with fsinfo() years ago. The LWN articles in [1] and [2] can serve as a summary so we can avoid rehashing everything here. At LSFMM in May 2022 we got into a room and agreed on what we want to do about fsinfo(). Basically, split it into pieces. This is the first part of that agreement. Specifically, it is concerned with retrieving information about mounts. So this only concerns the mount information retrieval, not the mount table change notification, or the extended filesystem specific mount option work. That is separate work. Currently mounts have a 32bit id. Mount ids are already in heavy use by libmount and other low-level userspace but they can't be relied upon because they're recycled very quickly. We agreed that mounts should carry a unique 64bit id by which they can be referenced directly. This is now implemented as part of this work. The new 64bit mount id is exposed in statx() through the new STATX_MNT_ID_UNIQUE flag. If the flag isn't raised the old mount id is returned. If it is raised and the kernel supports the new 64bit mount id the flag is raised in the result mask and the new 64bit mount id is returned. New and old mount ids do not overlap so they cannot be conflated. Two new system calls are introduced that operate on the 64bit mount id: statmount() and listmount(). A summary of the api and usage can be found on LWN as well (cf. [3]) but of course, I'll provide a summary here as well. Both system calls rely on struct mnt_id_req. Which is the request struct used to pass the 64bit mount id identifying the mount to operate on. It is extensible to allow for the addition of new parameters and for future use in other apis that make use of mount ids. statmount() mimicks the semantics of statx() and exposes a set flags that userspace may raise in mnt_id_req to request specific information to be retrieved. A statmount() call returns a struct statmount filled in with information about the requested mount. Supported requests are indicated by raising the request flag passed in struct mnt_id_req in the @mask argument in struct statmount. Currently we do support: - STATMOUNT_SB_BASIC: Basic filesystem info - STATMOUNT_MNT_BASIC Mount information (mount id, parent mount id, mount attributes etc) - STATMOUNT_PROPAGATE_FROM Propagation from what mount in current namespace - STATMOUNT_MNT_ROOT Path of the root of the mount (e.g., mount --bind /bla /mnt returns /bla) - STATMOUNT_MNT_POINT Path of the mount point (e.g., mount --bind /bla /mnt returns /mnt) - STATMOUNT_FS_TYPE Name of the filesystem type as the magic number isn't enough due to submounts The string options STATMOUNT_MNT_{ROOT,POINT} and STATMOUNT_FS_TYPE are appended to the end of the struct. Userspace can use the offsets in @fs_type, @mnt_root, and @mnt_point to reference those strings easily. The struct statmount reserves quite a bit of space currently for future extensibility. This isn't really a problem and if this bothers us we can just send a follow-up pull request during this cycle. listmount() is given a 64bit mount id via mnt_id_req just as statmount(). It takes a buffer and a size to return an array of the 64bit ids of the child mounts of the requested mount. Userspace can thus choose to either retrieve child mounts for a mount in batches or iterate through the child mounts. For most use-cases it will be sufficient to just leave space for a few child mounts. But for big mount tables having an iterator is really helpful. Iterating through a mount table works by setting @param in mnt_id_req to the mount id of the last child mount retrieved in the previous listmount() call" Link: https://lwn.net/Articles/934469 [1] Link: https://lwn.net/Articles/829212 [2] Link: https://lwn.net/Articles/950569 [3] * tag 'vfs-6.8.mount' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/vfs/vfs: add selftest for statmount/listmount fs: keep struct mnt_id_req extensible wire up syscalls for statmount/listmount add listmount(2) syscall statmount: simplify string option retrieval statmount: simplify numeric option retrieval add statmount(2) syscall namespace: extract show_path() helper mounts: keep list of mounts in an rbtree add unique mount ID |

mm: Introduce flush_cache_vmap_early()
The pcpu setup when using the page allocator sets up a new vmalloc mapping very early in the boot process, so early that it cannot use the flush_cache_vmap() function which may depend on structures not yet initialized (for example in riscv, we currently send an IPI to flush other cpus TLB). But on some architectures, we must call flush_cache_vmap(): for example, in riscv, some uarchs can cache invalid TLB entries so we need to flush the new established mapping to avoid taking an exception. So fix this by introducing a new function flush_cache_vmap_early() which is called right after setting the new page table entry and before accessing this new mapping. This new function implements a local flush tlb on riscv and is no-op for other architectures (same as today). arch/*/io.h: remove ioremap_uc in some architectures
ioremap_uc() is only meaningful on old x86-32 systems with the PAT extension, and on ia64 with its slightly unconventional ioremap() behavior. So remove the ioremap_uc() definition in architecutures other than x86 and ia64. These architectures all have asm-generic/io.h included and will have the default ioremap_uc() definition which returns NULL. This changes the existing behaviour, while no need to worry about any breakage because in the only callsite of ioremap_uc(), code has been adjusted to eliminate the impact. Please see atyfb_setup_generic() of drivers/video/fbdev/aty/atyfb_base.c. If any new invocation of ioremap_uc() need be added, please consider using ioremap() intead or adding a ARCH specific version if necessary. Pull sh updates from John Paul Adrian Glaubitz:
"While the previously announced patch series for converting arch/sh to
device trees is not yet ready for inclusion to mainline and therefore
didn't make it for this pull request, there are still a small number
changes for v6.7 which include one platform (board plus CPU and driver
code) removal plus two fixes.
The removal sent in by Arnd Bergmann concerns the microdev board which
was an early SuperH prototype board that was never used in production.
With the board removed, we were able to drop the now unused code for
the SH4-202 CPU and well as the driver code for the superhyway bus and
a custom implementation for ioport_map() and ioport_unmap() which will
allow us to simplify ioport handling in the future.
Another patch set by Geert Uytterhoeven revives SuperH BIOS
earlyprintk support which got accidentally disabled in

syscalls: Cleanup references to sys_lookup_dcookie()
commit 'be65de6b03aa ("fs: Remove dcookies support")' removed the syscall definition for lookup_dcookie. However, syscall tables still point to the old sys_lookup_dcookie() definition. futex: Add sys_futex_requeue()
Finish off the 'simple' futex2 syscall group by adding sys_futex_requeue(). Unlike sys_futex_{wait,wake}() its arguments are too numerous to fit into a regular syscall. As such, use struct futex_waitv to pass the 'source' and 'destination' futexes to the syscall. This syscall implements what was previously known as FUTEX_CMP_REQUEUE and uses {val, uaddr, flags} for source and {uaddr, flags} for destination. This design explicitly allows requeueing between different types of futex by having a different flags word per uaddr. futex: Add sys_futex_wait()
To complement sys_futex_waitv()/wake(), add sys_futex_wait(). This syscall implements what was previously known as FUTEX_WAIT_BITSET except it uses 'unsigned long' for the value and bitmask arguments, takes timespec and clockid_t arguments for the absolute timeout and uses FUTEX2 flags. The 'unsigned long' allows FUTEX2_SIZE_U64 on 64bit platforms. sh: push-switch: Reorder cleanup operations to avoid use-after-free bug
The original code puts flush_work() before timer_shutdown_sync()
in switch_drv_remove(). Although we use flush_work() to stop
the worker, it could be rescheduled in switch_timer(). As a result,
a use-after-free bug can occur. The details are shown below:
(cpu 0) | (cpu 1)
switch_drv_remove() |
flush_work() |
... | switch_timer // timer
| schedule_work(&psw->work)
timer_shutdown_sync() |
... | switch_work_handler // worker
kfree(psw) // free |
| psw->state = 0 // use
This patch puts timer_shutdown_sync() before flush_work() to
mitigate the bugs. As a result, the worker and timer will be
stopped safely before the deallocate operations.

CET consists of two related security features: shadow stacks and indirect branch tracking. This series implements just the shadow stack part of this feature, and just for userspace. The main use case for shadow stack is providing protection against return oriented programming attacks. It works by maintaining a secondary (shadow) stack using a special memory type that has protections against modification. When executing a CALL instruction, the processor pushes the return address to both the normal stack and to the special permission shadow stack. Upon RET, the processor pops the shadow stack copy and compares it to the normal stack copy. It is a revised version of the fchmodat() system call, adding a missing flag argument. Support for both AT_SYMLINK_NOFOLLOW and AT_EMPTY_PATH are included. Adding this system call revision has been a longstanding request but so far has always fallen through the cracks. While the kernel implementation of fchmodat() does not have a flag argument the libc provided POSIX-compliant fchmodat(3) version does. Both glibc and musl have to implement a workaround in order to support AT_SYMLINK_NOFOLLOW (see [1] and [2]). The workaround is brittle because it relies not just on O_PATH and O_NOFOLLOW semantics and procfs magic links but also on our rather inconsistent symlink semantics. This gives userspace a proper fchmodat2() system call that libcs can use to properly implement fchmodat(3) and allows them to get rid of their hacks. In this case it will immediately benefit them as the current workaround is already defunct because of aformentioned inconsistencies. In addition to AT_SYMLINK_NOFOLLOW, give userspace the ability to use AT_EMPTY_PATH with fchmodat2(). This is already possible with fchownat() so there's no reason to not also support it for fchmodat2(). The implementation is simple and comes with selftests. Implementation of the system call and wiring up the system call are done as separate patches even though they could arguably be one patch. But in case there are merge conflicts from other system call additions it can be beneficial to have separate patches" Link: https://sourceware.org/git/?p=glibc.git;a=blob;f=sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/fchmodat.c;h=17eca54051ee28ba1ec3f9aed170a62630959143;hb=a492b1e5ef7ab50c6fdd4e4e9879ea5569ab0a6c#l35 [1] Link: https://git.musl-libc.org/cgit/musl/tree/src/stat/fchmodat.c?id=718f363bc2067b6487900eddc9180c84e7739f80#n28 [2] * tag 'v6.6-vfs.fchmodat2' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/vfs/vfs: selftests: fchmodat2: remove duplicate unneeded defines fchmodat2: add support for AT_EMPTY_PATH selftests: Add fchmodat2 selftest arch: Register fchmodat2, usually as syscall 452 fs: Add fchmodat2() Non-functional cleanup of a "__user * filename" |

sh: mm: convert to GENERIC_IOREMAP
By taking GENERIC_IOREMAP method, the generic generic_ioremap_prot(), generic_iounmap(), and their generic wrapper ioremap_prot(), ioremap() and iounmap() are all visible and available to arch. Arch needs to provide wrapper functions to override the generic versions if there's arch specific handling in its ioremap_prot(), ioremap() or iounmap(). This change will simplify implementation by removing duplicated code with generic_ioremap_prot() and generic_iounmap(), and has the equivalent functioality as before. Here, add wrapper functions ioremap_prot() and iounmap() for SuperH's special operation when ioremap() and iounmap(). In <asm-generic/io.h>, it provides a generic implementation of all I/O accessors. For some port|mm io functions, SuperH has its own implementation in arch/sh/kernel/iomap.c and arch/sh/include/asm/io_noioport.h. sh: mach-r2d: Handle virq offset in cascaded IRL demux
When booting rts7751r2dplus_defconfig on QEMU, the system hangs due to
an interrupt storm on IRQ 20. IRQ 20 aka event 0x280 is a cascaded IRL
interrupt, which maps to IRQ_VOYAGER, the interrupt used by the Silicon
Motion SM501 multimedia companion chip. As rts7751r2d_irq_demux() does
not take into account the new virq offset, the interrupt is no longer
translated, leading to an unhandled interrupt.
Fix this by taking into account the virq offset when translating
cascaded IRL interrupts.

mm: Rename arch pte_mkwrite()'s to pte_mkwrite_novma()
The x86 Shadow stack feature includes a new type of memory called shadow stack. This shadow stack memory has some unusual properties, which requires some core mm changes to function properly. One of these unusual properties is that shadow stack memory is writable, but only in limited ways. These limits are applied via a specific PTE bit combination. Nevertheless, the memory is writable, and core mm code will need to apply the writable permissions in the typical paths that call pte_mkwrite(). The goal is to make pte_mkwrite() take a VMA, so that the x86 implementation of it can know whether to create regular writable or shadow stack mappings. But there are a couple of challenges to this. Modifying the signatures of each arch pte_mkwrite() implementation would be error prone because some are generated with macros and would need to be re-implemented. Also, some pte_mkwrite() callers operate on kernel memory without a VMA. So this can be done in a three step process. First pte_mkwrite() can be renamed to pte_mkwrite_novma() in each arch, with a generic pte_mkwrite() added that just calls pte_mkwrite_novma(). Next callers without a VMA can be moved to pte_mkwrite_novma(). And lastly, pte_mkwrite() and all callers can be changed to take/pass a VMA. Start the process by renaming pte_mkwrite() to pte_mkwrite_novma() and adding the pte_mkwrite() wrapper in linux/pgtable.h. Apply the same pattern for pmd_mkwrite(). Since not all archs have a pmd_mkwrite_novma(), create a new arch config HAS_HUGE_PAGE that can be used to tell if pmd_mkwrite() should be defined. Otherwise in the !HAS_HUGE_PAGE cases the compiler would not be able to find pmd_mkwrite_novma(). No functional change.
