dc920277f1 cifs: clear PF_MEMALLOC before exiting demultiplex thread
Leaving PF_MEMALLOC set when exiting a kthread causes it to remain set
during do_exit().  That can confuse things.  For example, if BSD process
accounting is enabled and the accounting file has FS_SYNC_FL set and is
located on an ext4 filesystem without a journal, then do_exit() can end
up calling ext4_write_inode().  That triggers the
WARN_ON_ONCE(current->flags & PF_MEMALLOC) there, as it assumes
(appropriately) that inodes aren't written when allocating memory.

This was originally reported for another kernel thread, xfsaild() [1].
cifs_demultiplex_thread() also exits with PF_MEMALLOC set, so it's
potentially subject to this same class of issue -- though I haven't been
able to reproduce the WARN_ON_ONCE() via CIFS, since unlike xfsaild(),
cifs_demultiplex_thread() is sent SIGKILL before exiting, and that
interrupts the write to the BSD process accounting file.

Either way, leaving PF_MEMALLOC set is potentially problematic.  Let's
clean this up by properly saving and restoring PF_MEMALLOC.

ba55344f36 CIFS: Warn less noisily on default mount
The warning we print on mount about how to use less secure dialects
(when the user does not specify a version on mount) is useful
but is noisy to print on every default mount, and can be changed
to a warn_once.  Slightly updated the warning text as well to note
SMB3.1.1 which has been the default which is typically negotiated
(for a few years now) by most servers.

      "No dialect specified on mount. Default has changed to a more
       secure dialect, SMB2.1 or later (e.g. SMB3.1.1), from CIFS
       (SMB1). To use the less secure SMB1 dialect to access old
       servers which do not support SMB3.1.1 (or even SMB3 or SMB2.1)
       specify vers=1.0 on mount."

We really, really don't want people using insecure dialects
unless they realize what they are doing ...

Add mount warning if mounting with vers=1.0 (older SMB1/CIFS
dialect) instead of the default (SMB2.1 or later, typically
SMB3.1.1).

bacd704a95 cifs: handle prefix paths in reconnect
For the case where we have a DFS path like below and we're currently
connected to targetA:

    //dfsroot/link -> //targetA/share/foo, //targetB/share/bar

after failover, we should make sure to update cifs_sb->prepath so the
next operations will use the new prefix path "/bar".

Besides, in order to simplify the use of different prefix paths,
enforce CIFS_MOUNT_USE_PREFIX_PATH for DFS mounts so we don't have to
revalidate the root dentry every time we set a new prefix path.

0f060936e4 SMB3: Backup intent flag missing from some more ops
When "backup intent" is requested on the mount (e.g. backupuid or
backupgid mount options), the corresponding flag was missing from
some of the operations.

Change all operations to use the macro cifs_create_options() to
set the backup intent flag if needed.

3345bb44ba cifs: Fix lookup of SMB connections on multichannel
With the addition of SMB session channels, we introduced new TCP
server pointers that have no sessions or tcons associated with them.

In this case, when we started looking for TCP connections, we might
end up picking session channel rather than the master connection,
hence failing to get either a session or a tcon.

In order to fix that, this patch introduces a new "is_channel" field
to TCP_Server_Info structure so we can skip session channels during
lookup of connections.

After doing mount() successfully we call cifs_try_adding_channels()
which will open as many channels as it can.

Channels are closed when the master session is closed.

The master connection becomes the first channel.

Note how channel connections don't have sessions. That's because
cifs_ses can only be part of one linked list (list_head are internal
to the elements).

For signing keys, each channel has its own signing key which must be
used only after the channel has been bound. While it's binding it must
use the master session signing key.

For encryption keys, since channel connections do not have sessions
attached we must now find matching session by looping over all sessions
in smb2_get_enc_key().

Each channel is opened like a regular server connection but at the
session setup request step it must set the
SMB2_SESSION_REQ_FLAG_BINDING flag and use the session id to bind to.

Finally, while sending in compound_send_recv() for requests that
aren't negprot, ses-setup or binding related, use a channel by cycling
through the available ones (round-robin).

f6a6bf7c4d cifs: switch servers depending on binding state
Currently a lot of the code to initialize a connection & session uses
the cifs_ses as input. But depending on if we are opening a new session
or a new channel we need to use different server pointers.

Add a "binding" flag in cifs_ses and a helper function that returns
the server ptr a session should use (only in the sess establishment
code path).

7b71843fa7 CIFS: Do not miss cancelled OPEN responses
When an OPEN command is cancelled we mark a mid as
cancelled and let the demultiplex thread process it
by closing an open handle. The problem is there is
a race between a system call thread and the demultiplex
thread and there may be a situation when the mid has
been already processed before it is set as cancelled.

Fix this by processing cancelled requests when mids
are being destroyed which means that there is only
one thread referencing a particular mid. Also set
mids as cancelled unconditionally on their state.

86a7964be7 CIFS: Fix NULL pointer dereference in mid callback
There is a race between a system call processing thread
and the demultiplex thread when mid->resp_buf becomes NULL
and later is being accessed to get credits. It happens when
the 1st thread wakes up before a mid callback is called in
the 2nd one but the mid state has already been set to
MID_RESPONSE_RECEIVED. This causes NULL pointer dereference
in mid callback.

Fix this by saving credits from the response before we
update the mid state and then use this value in the mid
callback rather then accessing a response buffer.

When the client hits reconnect it iterates over the mid
pending queue marking entries for retry and moving them
to a temporary list to issue callbacks later without holding
GlobalMid_Lock. In the same time there is no guarantee that
mids can't be removed from the temporary list or even
freed completely by another thread. It may cause a temporary

Fix this by obtaining extra references for mids being retried
and marking them as MID_DELETED which indicates that such a mid
has been dequeued from the pending list.

Also move mid cleanup logic from DeleteMidQEntry to
_cifs_mid_q_entry_release which is called when the last reference
to a particular mid is put. This allows to avoid any use-after-free
of response buffers.

The patch needs to be backported to stable kernels. A stable tag
is not mentioned below because the patch doesn't apply cleanly
to any actively maintained stable kernel.

d532cc7efd cifs: Handle -EINPROGRESS only when noblockcnt is set
We only want to avoid blocking in connect when mounting SMB root
filesystems, otherwise bail out from generic_ip_connect() so cifs.ko
can perform any reconnect failover appropriately.

This fixes DFS failover/reconnection tests in upstream buildbot.

3e7a02d478 smb3: allow disabling requesting leases
In some cases to work around server bugs or performance
problems it can be helpful to be able to disable requesting
SMB2.1/SMB3 leases on a particular mount (not to all servers
and all shares we are mounted to). Add new mount parm
"nolease" which turns off requesting leases on directory
or file opens.  Currently the only way to disable leases is
globally through a module load parameter. This is more
granular.

1b63f1840e smb3: display max smb3 requests in flight at any one time
Displayed in /proc/fs/cifs/Stats once for each
socket we are connected to.

This allows us to find out what the maximum number of
requests that had been in flight (at any one time). Note that
/proc/fs/cifs/Stats can be reset if you want to look for
maximum over a small period of time.

563317ec30 smb3: enable offload of decryption of large reads via mount option
Disable offload of the decryption of encrypted read responses
by default (equivalent to setting this new mount option "esize=0").

Allow setting the minimum encrypted read response size that we
will choose to offload to a worker thread - it is now configurable
via on a new mount option "esize="

Depending on which encryption mechanism (GCM vs. CCM) and
the number of reads that will be issued in parallel and the
performance of the network and CPU on the client, it may make
sense to enable this since it can provide substantial benefit when
multiple large reads are in flight at the same time.

My recent to change to only use force_sig for a synchronous events
wound up breaking signal reception cifs and drbd.  I had overlooked
the fact that by default kthreads start out with all signals set to
SIG_IGN.  So a change I thought was safe turned out to have made it
impossible for those kernel thread to catch their signals.

Reverting the work on force_sig is a bad idea because what the code
was doing was very much a misuse of force_sig.  As the way force_sig
ultimately allowed the signal to happen was to change the signal
handler to SIG_DFL.  Which after the first signal will allow userspace
to send signals to these kernel threads.  At least for
wake_ack_receiver in drbd that does not appear actively wrong.

So correct this problem by adding allow_kernel_signal that will allow
signals whose siginfo reports they were sent by the kernel through,
but will not allow userspace generated signals, and update cifs and
drbd to call allow_kernel_signal in an appropriate place so that their
thread can receive this signal.

Fixing things this way ensures that userspace won't be able to send
signals and cause problems, that it is clear which signals the
threads are expecting to receive, and it guarantees that nothing
else in the system will be affected.

This change was partly inspired by similar cifs and drbd patches that
added allow_signal.

order to not impact the rest of the merge window.

a compression negcontext is sent in negotiate protocol) - do

There is a special ACE used by some servers to allow the mode
bits to be stored.  This can be especially helpful in scenarios
in which the client is trusted, and access checking on the
client vs the POSIX mode bits is sufficient.

Add mount option to allow enabling this behavior.
Follow on patch will add support for chmod and queryinfo
(stat) by retrieving the POSIX mode bits from the special
ACE, SID: S-1-5-88-3

f2caf901c1 cifs: Fix a race condition with cifs_echo_request
There is a race condition with how we send (or supress and don't send)
smb echos that will cause the client to incorrectly think the
server is unresponsive and thus needs to be reconnected.

Summary of the race condition:
 1) Daisy chaining scheduling creates a gap.
 2) If traffic comes unfortunate shortly after
    the last echo, the planned echo is suppressed.
 3) Due to the gap, the next echo transmission is delayed
    until after the timeout, which is set hard to twice
    the echo interval.

This is fixed by changing the timeouts from 2 to three times the echo interval.

43cdae88de Fix match_server check to allow for auto dialect negotiate
When using multidialect negotiate (default or specifying vers=3.0 which
allows any smb3 dialect), fix how we check for an existing server session.
Before this fix if you mounted a second time to the same server (e.g. a
different share on the same server) we would only reuse the existing smb
session if a single dialect were requested (e.g. specifying vers=2.1 or vers=3.0
or vers=3.1.1 on the mount command). If a default mount (e.g. not
specifying vers=) is done then would always create a new socket connection
and SMB3 (or SMB3.1.1) session each time we connect to a different share
on the same server rather than reusing the existing one.

Replace the uid/gid/perm permissions checking on a key with an ACL to allow
the SETATTR and SEARCH permissions to be split.  This will also allow a
greater range of subjects to represented.

============
WHY DO THIS?
============

The problem is that SETATTR and SEARCH cover a slew of actions, not all of
which should be grouped together.

For SETATTR, this includes actions that are about controlling access to a
key:

 (1) Changing a key's ownership.

 (2) Changing a key's security information.

 (3) Setting a keyring's restriction.

And actions that are about managing a key's lifetime:

 (4) Setting an expiry time.

 (5) Revoking a key.

and (proposed) managing a key as part of a cache:

 (6) Invalidating a key.

Managing a key's lifetime doesn't really have anything to do with
controlling access to that key.

Expiry time is awkward since it's more about the lifetime of the content
and so, in some ways goes better with WRITE permission.  It can, however,
be set unconditionally by a process with an appropriate authorisation token
for instantiating a key, and can also be set by the key type driver when a
key is instantiated, so lumping it with the access-controlling actions is
probably okay.

As for SEARCH permission, that currently covers:

 (1) Finding keys in a keyring tree during a search.

 (2) Permitting keyrings to be joined.

 (3) Invalidation.

But these don't really belong together either, since these actions really
need to be controlled separately.

Finally, there are number of special cases to do with granting the
administrator special rights to invalidate or clear keys that I would like
to handle with the ACL rather than key flags and special checks.

WHAT IS CHANGED
===============

The SETATTR permission is split to create two new permissions:

 (1) SET_SECURITY - which allows the key's owner, group and ACL to be
     changed and a restriction to be placed on a keyring.

 (2) REVOKE - which allows a key to be revoked.

The SEARCH permission is split to create:

 (1) SEARCH - which allows a keyring to be search and a key to be found.

 (2) JOIN - which allows a keyring to be joined as a session keyring.

 (3) INVAL - which allows a key to be invalidated.

The WRITE permission is also split to create:

 (1) WRITE - which allows a key's content to be altered and links to be
     added, removed and replaced in a keyring.

 (2) CLEAR - which allows a keyring to be cleared completely.  This is
     split out to make it possible to give just this to an administrator.

 (3) REVOKE - see above.


Keys acquire ACLs which consist of a series of ACEs, and all that apply are
unioned together.  An ACE specifies a subject, such as:

 (*) Possessor - permitted to anyone who 'possesses' a key
 (*) Owner - permitted to the key owner
 (*) Group - permitted to the key group
 (*) Everyone - permitted to everyone

Note that 'Other' has been replaced with 'Everyone' on the assumption that
you wouldn't grant a permit to 'Other' that you wouldn't also grant to
everyone else.

Further subjects may be made available by later patches.

The ACE also specifies a permissions mask.  The set of permissions is now:

	VIEW		Can view the key metadata
	READ		Can read the key content
	WRITE		Can update/modify the key content
	SEARCH		Can find the key by searching/requesting
	LINK		Can make a link to the key
	SET_SECURITY	Can change owner, ACL, expiry
	INVAL		Can invalidate
	REVOKE		Can revoke
	JOIN		Can join this keyring
	CLEAR		Can clear this keyring


The KEYCTL_SETPERM function is then deprecated.

The KEYCTL_SET_TIMEOUT function then is permitted if SET_SECURITY is set,
or if the caller has a valid instantiation auth token.

The KEYCTL_INVALIDATE function then requires INVAL.

The KEYCTL_REVOKE function then requires REVOKE.

The KEYCTL_JOIN_SESSION_KEYRING function then requires JOIN to join an
existing keyring.

The JOIN permission is enabled by default for session keyrings and manually
created keyrings only.

BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY
======================

To maintain backward compatibility, KEYCTL_SETPERM will translate the
permissions mask it is given into a new ACL for a key - unless
KEYCTL_SET_ACL has been called on that key, in which case an error will be
returned.

It will convert possessor, owner, group and other permissions into separate
ACEs, if each portion of the mask is non-zero.

SETATTR permission turns on all of INVAL, REVOKE and SET_SECURITY.  WRITE
permission turns on WRITE, REVOKE and, if a keyring, CLEAR.  JOIN is turned
on if a keyring is being altered.

The KEYCTL_DESCRIBE function translates the ACL back into a permissions
mask to return depending on possessor, owner, group and everyone ACEs.

It will make the following mappings:

 (1) INVAL, JOIN -> SEARCH

 (2) SET_SECURITY -> SETATTR

 (3) REVOKE -> WRITE if SETATTR isn't already set

 (4) CLEAR -> WRITE

Note that the value subsequently returned by KEYCTL_DESCRIBE may not match
the value set with KEYCTL_SETATTR.

TESTING
=======

This passes the keyutils testsuite for all but a couple of tests:

 (1) tests/keyctl/dh_compute/badargs: The first wrong-key-type test now
     returns EOPNOTSUPP rather than ENOKEY as READ permission isn't removed
     if the type doesn't have ->read().  You still can't actually read the
     key.

 (2) tests/keyctl/permitting/valid: The view-other-permissions test doesn't
     work as Other has been replaced with Everyone in the ACL.

72abe3bcf0 signal/cifs: Fix cifs_put_tcp_session to call send_sig instead of force_sig
The locking in force_sig_info is not prepared to deal with a task that
exits or execs (as sighand may change).  The is not a locking problem
in force_sig as force_sig is only built to handle synchronous
exceptions.

Further the function force_sig_info changes the signal state if the
signal is ignored, or blocked or if SIGNAL_UNKILLABLE will prevent the
delivery of the signal.  The signal SIGKILL can not be ignored and can
not be blocked and SIGNAL_UNKILLABLE won't prevent it from being
delivered.

So using force_sig rather than send_sig for SIGKILL is confusing
and pointless.

Because it won't impact the sending of the signal and and because
using force_sig is wrong, replace force_sig with send_sig.

1d2a4f57ce cifs:smbd When reconnecting to server, call smbd_destroy() after all MIDs have been called
commit 214bab4484 ("cifs: Call MID callback before destroying transport")
assumes that the MID callback should not take srv_mutex, this may not always
be true. SMB Direct requires the MID callback completed before calling
transport so all pending memory registration can be freed. So restore the
original calling sequence so TCP transport will use the same code, but moving
smbd_destroy() after all MID has been called.

050b8c3740 smbd: Make upper layer decide when to destroy the transport
On transport recoonect, upper layer CIFS code destroys the current
transport and then recoonect. This code path is not used by SMBD, in that
SMBD destroys its transport on RDMA disconnect notification independent of
CIFS upper layer behavior.

This approach adds some costs to SMBD layer to handle transport shutdown
and restart, and to deal with several racing conditions on reconnecting
transport.

Re-work this code path by introducing a new smbd_destroy. This function is
called form upper layer to ask SMBD to destroy the transport. SMBD will no
longer need to destroy the transport by itself while worrying about data
transfer is in progress. The upper layer guarantees the transport is
locked.

ca567eb2b3 SMB3: Allow persistent handle timeout to be configurable on mount
Reconnecting after server or network failure can be improved
(to maintain availability and protect data integrity) by allowing
the client to choose the default persistent (or resilient)
handle timeout in some use cases.  Today we default to 0 which lets
the server pick the default timeout (usually 120 seconds) but this
can be problematic for some workloads.  Add the new mount parameter
to cifs.ko for SMB3 mounts "handletimeout" which enables the user
to override the default handle timeout for persistent (mount
option "persistenthandles") or resilient handles (mount option
"resilienthandles").  Maximum allowed is 16 minutes (960000 ms).
Units for the timeout are expressed in milliseconds. See
section 2.2.14.2.12 and 2.2.31.3 of the MS-SMB2 protocol
specification for more information.

335b7b62ff CIFS: Respect reconnect in MTU credits calculations
Every time after a session reconnect we don't need to account for
credits obtained in previous sessions. Introduce new struct cifs_credits
which contains both credits value and reconnect instance of the
time those credits were taken. Modify a routine that add credits
back to handle the reconnect instance by assuming zero credits
if the reconnect happened after the credits were obtained and
before we decided to add them back due to some errors during sending.

This patch fixes the MTU credits cases. The subsequent patch
will handle non-MTU ones.

Even if a response is malformed, we should count credits
granted by the server to avoid miscalculations and unnecessary
reconnects due to client or server bugs. If the response has

credits for such cases shouldn't break things.

e8506d25f7 smb3: make default i/o size for smb3 mounts larger
We negotiate rsize mounts (and it can be overridden by user) to
typically 4MB, so using larger default I/O sizes from userspace
(changing to 1MB default i/o size returned by stat) the
performance is much better (and not just for long latency
network connections) in most use cases for SMB3 than the default I/O
size (which ends up being 128K for cp and can be even smaller for cp).
This can be 4x slower or worse depending on network latency.

By changing inode->blocksize from 32K (which was perhaps ok
for very old SMB1/CIFS) to a larger value, 1MB (but still less than
max size negotiated with the server which is 4MB, in order to minimize
risk) it significantly increases performance for the
noncached case, and slightly increases it for the cached case.
This can be changed by the user on mount (specifying bsize=
values from 16K to 16MB) to tune better for performance
for applications that depend on blocksize.

74ea5f983f cifs: replace snprintf with scnprintf
a trivial patch that replaces all use of snprintf with scnprintf.
scnprintf() is generally seen as a safer function to use than
snprintf for many use cases.

In our case, there is no actual difference between the two since we never
look at the return value. Thus we did not have any of the bugs that
scnprintf protects against and the patch does nothing.

However, for people reading our code it will be a receipt that we
have done our due dilligence and checked our code for this type of bugs.

ef68e83184 CIFS: Do not reconnect TCP session in add_credits()
When executing add_credits() we currently call cifs_reconnect()
if the number of credits is zero and there are no requests in
flight. In this case we may call cifs_reconnect() recursively
twice and cause memory corruption given the following sequence
of functions:

mid1.callback() -> add_credits() -> cifs_reconnect() ->
-> mid2.callback() -> add_credits() -> cifs_reconnect().

Fix this by avoiding to call cifs_reconnect() in add_credits()
and checking for zero credits in the demultiplex thread.

54be1f6c1c cifs: Add DFS cache routines
* Add new dfs_cache.[ch] files

* Add new /proc/fs/cifs/dfscache file
  - dump current cache when read
  - clear current cache when writing "0" to it

* Add delayed_work to periodically refresh cache entries

The new interface will be used for caching DFS referrals, as well as
supporting client target failover.

The DFS cache is a hashtable that maps UNC paths to cache entries.

A cache entry contains:
- the UNC path it is mapped on
- how much the the UNC path the entry consumes
- flags
- a Time-To-Live after which the entry expires
- a list of possible targets (linked lists of UNC paths)
- a "hint target" pointing the last known working target or the first
  target if none were tried. This hint lets cifs.ko remember and try
  working targets first.

* Looking for an entry in the cache is done with dfs_cache_find()
  - if no valid entries are found, a DFS query is made, stored in the
    cache and returned
  - the full target list can be copied and returned to avoid race
    conditions and looped on with the help with the
    dfs_cache_tgt_iterator

* Updating the target hint to the next target is done with
  dfs_cache_update_tgthint()

These functions have a dfs_cache_noreq_XXX() version that doesn't
fetches referrals if no entries are found. These versions don't
require the tcp/ses/tcon/cifs_sb parameters as a result.

Expired entries cannot be used and since they have a pretty short TTL
[1] in order for them to be useful for failover the DFS cache adds a
delayed work called periodically to keep them fresh.

Since we might not have available connections to issue the referral
request when refreshing we need to store volume_info structs with
credentials and other needed info to be able to connect to the right
server.

1: Windows defaults: 5mn for domain-based referrals, 30mn for regular
links

9b9c5bea0b cifs: do not return atime less than mtime
In network file system it is fairly easy for server and client
atime vs. mtime to get confused (and atime updated less frequently)
which we noticed broke some apps which expect atime >= mtime

Also ignore relatime mount option (rather than error on it) since
relatime is basically what some network server fs are doing
(relatime).

aa563d7bca iov_iter: Separate type from direction and use accessor functions
In the iov_iter struct, separate the iterator type from the iterator
direction and use accessor functions to access them in most places.

Convert a bunch of places to use switch-statements to access them rather
then chains of bitwise-AND statements.  This makes it easier to add further
iterator types.  Also, this can be more efficient as to implement a switch
of small contiguous integers, the compiler can use ~50% fewer compare
instructions than it has to use bitwise-and instructions.

Further, cease passing the iterator type into the iterator setup function.
The iterator function can set that itself.  Only the direction is required.

ddf83afb9f cifs: add a warning if we try to to dequeue a deleted mid
cifs_delete_mid() is called once we are finished handling a mid and we
expect no more work done on this mid.

Needed to fix recent commit:
commit 730928c8f4
("cifs: update smb2_queryfs() to use compounding")

Add a warning if someone tries to dequeue a mid that has already been
flagged to be deleted.
Also change list_del() to list_del_init() so that if we have similar bugs
resurface in the future we will not oops.

0fdfef9aa7 smb3: simplify code by removing CONFIG_CIFS_SMB311
We really, really want to be encouraging use of secure dialects,
and SMB3.1.1 offers useful security features, and will soon
be the recommended dialect for many use cases. Simplify the code
by removing the CONFIG_CIFS_SMB311 ifdef so users don't disable
it in the build, and create compatibility and/or security issues
with modern servers - many of which have been supporting this
dialect for multiple years.

Also clarify some of the Kconfig text for cifs.ko about
SMB3.1.1 and current supported features in the module.

696e420bb2 cifs: Fix use after free of a mid_q_entry
With protocol version 2.0 mounts we have seen crashes with corrupt mid
entries. Either the server->pending_mid_q list becomes corrupt with a
cyclic reference in one element or a mid object fetched by the
demultiplexer thread becomes overwritten during use.

Code review identified a race between the demultiplexer thread and the
request issuing thread. The demultiplexer thread seems to be written
with the assumption that it is the sole user of the mid object until
it calls the mid callback which either wakes the issuer task or
deletes the mid.

This assumption is not true because the issuer task can be woken up
earlier by a signal. If the demultiplexer thread has proceeded as far
as setting the mid_state to MID_RESPONSE_RECEIVED then the issuer
thread will happily end up calling cifs_delete_mid while the
demultiplexer thread still is using the mid object.

Inserting a delay in the cifs demultiplexer thread widens the race
window and makes reproduction of the race very easy:

		if (server->large_buf)
			buf = server->bigbuf;

+		usleep_range(500, 4000);

		server->lstrp = jiffies;

To resolve this I think the proper solution involves putting a
reference count on the mid object. This patch makes sure that the
demultiplexer thread holds a reference until it has finished
processing the transaction.

Separate out all the 4 byte rfc1002 headers so that they are no longer
part of the SMB2 header structures to prepare for future work to add
compounding support.

Update the smb3 transform header processing that we no longer have
a rfc1002 header at the start of this structure.

Update smb2_readv_callback to accommodate that the first iovector in the
response is no the smb2 header and no longer a rfc1002 header.

If "posix" (or synonym "unix" for backward compatibility) specified on mount,
and server advertises support for SMB3.11 POSIX negotiate context, then
enable the new posix extensions on the tcon.  This can be viewed by
looking for "posix" in the mount options displayed by /proc/mounts
for that mount (ie if posix extensions allowed by server and the
experimental POSIX extensions also requested on the mount by specifying
"posix" at mount time).

Also add check to warn user if conflicting unix/nounix or posix/noposix specified
on mount.

To improve security it may be helpful to have additional ways to restrict the
ability to override the default dialects (SMB2.1, SMB3 and SMB3.02) on mount
with old dialects (CIFS/SMB1 and SMB2) since vers=1.0 (CIFS/SMB1) and vers=2.0
are weaker and less secure.

Add a module parameter "disable_legacy_dialects"
(/sys/module/cifs/parameters/disable_legacy_dialects) which can be set to
1 (or equivalently Y) to forbid use of vers=1.0 or vers=2.0 on mount.

Also cleans up a few build warnings about globals for various module parms.

3d4ef9a153 smb3: fix redundant opens on root
In SMB2/SMB3 unlike in cifs we unnecessarily open the root of the share
over and over again in various places during mount and path revalidation
and also in statfs.  This patch cuts redundant traffic (opens and closes)
by simply keeping the directory handle for the root around (and reopening
it as needed on reconnect), so query calls don't require three round
trips to copmlete - just one, and eases load on network, client and
server (on mount alone, cuts network traffic by more than a third).

Also add a new cifs mount parm "nohandlecache" to allow users whose
servers might have resource constraints (eg in case they have a server
with so many users connecting to it that this extra handle per mount
could possibly be a resource concern).

23657ad730 SMB3: Fix 3.11 encryption to Windows and handle encrypted smb3 tcon
Temporarily disable AES-GCM, as AES-CCM is only currently
enabled mechanism on client side.  This fixes SMB3.11
encrypted mounts to Windows.

Also the tree connect request itself should be encrypted if
requested encryption ("seal" on mount), in addition we should be
enabling encryption in 3.11 based on whether we got any valid
encryption ciphers back in negprot (the corresponding session flag is
not set as it is in 3.0 and 3.02)

* Remove ses->ipc_tid.
* Make IPC$ regular tcon.
* Add a direct pointer to it in ses->tcon_ipc.
* Distinguish PIPE tcon from IPC tcon by adding a tcon->pipe flag. All
  IPC tcons are pipes but not all pipes are IPC.
* All TreeConnect functions now cannot take a NULL tcon object.

The IPC tcon has the same lifetime as the session it belongs to. It is
created when the session is created and destroyed when the session is
destroyed.

Since no mounts directly refer to the IPC tcon, its refcount should
always be set to initialisation value (1). Thus we make sure
cifs_put_tcon() skips it.

If the mount request resulting in a new session being created requires
encryption, try to require it too for IPC.

* set SERVER_NAME_LENGTH to serverName actual size

The maximum length of an ipv6 string representation is defined in
INET6_ADDRSTRLEN as 45+1 for null but lets keep what we know works.

Add "rdma" to CIFS mount options to connect to SMB Direct.
Add checks to validate this is used on SMB 3.X dialects.

To connect to SMBDirect, use "mount.cifs -o rdma,vers=3.x".
At the time of this patch, 3.x can be 3.0, 3.02 or 3.1.1.

  - cifs_setup_session
  - [ smb2_reconnect_server ]

auth_key.response was allocated in cifs_setup_session, and
will release when the session destoried. So when session re-
connect, auth_key.response should be check and released.

Tested with my system:
CIFS VFS: Free previous auth_key.response = ffff8800320bbf80

A simple auth_key.response allocation call trace:
- cifs_setup_session

9764c02fcb SMB3: Add support for multidialect negotiate (SMB2.1 and later)
With the need to discourage use of less secure dialect, SMB1 (CIFS),
we temporarily upgraded the dialect to SMB3 in 4.13, but since there
are various servers which only support SMB2.1 (2.1 is more secure
than CIFS/SMB1) but not optimal for a default dialect - add support
for multidialect negotiation.  cifs.ko will now request SMB2.1
or later (ie SMB2.1 or SMB3.0, SMB3.02) and the server will
pick the latest most secure one it can support.

In addition since we are sending multidialect negotiate, add
support for secure negotiate to validate that a man in the
middle didn't downgrade us.

76e752701a cifs: Check for timeout on Negotiate stage
Some servers seem to accept connections while booting but never send
the SMBNegotiate response neither close the connection, causing all
processes accessing the share hang on uninterruptible sleep state.

This happens when the cifs_demultiplex_thread detects the server is
unresponsive so releases the socket and start trying to reconnect.
At some point, the faulty server will accept the socket and the TCP
status will be set to NeedNegotiate. The first issued command accessing
the share will start the negotiation (pid 5828 below), but the response
will never arrive so other commands will be blocked waiting on the mutex
(pid 55352).

This patch checks for unresponsive servers also on the negotiate stage
releasing the socket and reconnecting if the response is not received
and checking again the tcp state when the mutex is acquired.

7e682f766f Fix warning messages when mounting to older servers
When mounting to older servers, such as Windows XP (or even Windows 7),
the limited error messages that can be passed back to user space can
get confusing since the default dialect has changed from SMB1 (CIFS) to
more secure SMB3 dialect. Log additional information when the user chooses
to use the default dialects and when the server does not support the
dialect requested.

eef914a9eb [SMB3] Improve security, move default dialect to SMB3 from old CIFS
Due to recent publicity about security vulnerabilities in the
much older CIFS dialect, move the default dialect to the
widely accepted (and quite secure) SMB3.0 dialect from the
old default of the CIFS dialect.

We do not want to be encouraging use of less secure dialects,
and both Microsoft and CERT now strongly recommend not using the
older CIFS dialect (SMB Security Best Practices
"recommends disabling SMBv1").

SMB3 is both secure and widely available: in Windows 8 and later,
Samba and Macs.

Users can still choose to explicitly mount with the less secure
dialect (for old servers) by choosing "vers=1.0" on the cifs
mount

2a38e12053 [SMB3] Remove ifdef since SMB3 (and later) now STRONGLY preferred
Remove the CONFIG_CIFS_SMB2 ifdef and Kconfig option since they
must always be on now.

For various security reasons, SMB3 and later are STRONGLY preferred
over CIFS and older dialects, and SMB3 (and later) will now be
the default dialects so we do not want to allow them to be
ifdeffed out.

In the longer term, we may be able to make older CIFS support
disableable in Kconfig with a new set of #ifdef, but we always
want SMB3 and later support enabled.

511c54a2f6 CIFS: Reconnect expired SMB sessions
According to the MS-SMB2 spec (3.2.5.1.6) once the client receives
STATUS_NETWORK_SESSION_EXPIRED error code from a server it should
reconnect the current SMB session. Currently the client doesn't do
that. This can result in subsequent client requests failing by
the server. The patch adds an additional logic to the demultiplex
thread to identify expired sessions and reconnect them.

29bb3158cf cifs: fix IPv6 link local, with scope id, address parsing
When the IP address is gotten from the UNC, use only the address part
of the UNC. Else all after the percent sign in an IPv6 link local
address is interpreted as a scope id. This includes the slash and
share name. A scope id is expected to be an integer and any trailing
characters makes the conversion to integer fail.
Example of mount command that fails:
mount -i -t cifs //fe80::6a05:caff:fe3e:8ffc%2/test /mnt/t -o sec=none

40920c2bb1 CIFS: handle guest access errors to Windows shares
Commit 1a967d6c9b ("correctly to
anonymous authentication for the NTLM(v2) authentication") introduces
a regression in handling errors related to attempting a guest
connection to a Windows share which requires authentication. This
should result in a permission denied error but actually causes the
kernel module to enter a never-ending loop trying to follow a DFS
referal which doesn't exist.

The base cause of this is the failure now occurs later in the process
during tree connect and not at the session setup setup and all errors
in tree connect are interpreted as needing to follow the DFS paths
which isn't in this case correct. So, check the returned error against
EACCES and fail if this is returned error.

Feedback from Aurelien:

        This is what you get before your infinite loop.

                     All these issues result in mount failing very fast with permission denied.

                     In any case I did not notice any issues for on a basic DFS setup with
                     the patch so I don't think it introduced any regressions, which is
                     probably all that matters. It still bothers me a little I couldn't hit
                     the bug.

                     I've included kernel output w/ debugging output and network capture of
                     my tests if anyone want to have a look at it. (master+patch = ml-guestfix).

38bd49064a Handle mismatched open calls
A signal can interrupt a SendReceive call which result in incoming
responses to the call being ignored. This is a problem for calls such as
open which results in the successful response being ignored. This
results in an open file resource on the server.

The patch looks into responses which were cancelled after being sent and
in case of successful open closes the open fids.

For this patch, the check is only done in SendReceive2()

c6e970a04b net: break include loop netdevice.h, dsa.h, devlink.h
There is an include loop between netdevice.h, dsa.h, devlink.h because
of NETDEV_ALIGN, making it impossible to use devlink structures in
dsa.h.

Break this loop by taking dsa.h out of netdevice.h, add a forward
declaration of dsa_switch_tree and netdev_set_default_ethtool_ops()
function, which is what netdevice.h requires.

No longer having dsa.h in netdevice.h means the includes in dsa.h no
longer get included. This breaks a few other files which depend on
these includes. Add these directly in the affected file.

  eliminated quirks, backmerged fixes plus I rebased it to an upstream
  SHA1 from yesterday that includes most changes queued up in -next plus
  all sched.h changes that were pending from Andrew.

  I've re-tested the series both on x86 and on cross-arch defconfigs,
  and did a bisectability test at a number of random points.

  I tried to test as many build configurations as possible, but some
  build breakage is probably still left - but it should be mostly
  limited to architectures that have no cross-compiler binaries
  available on kernel.org, and non-default configurations"

ef65aaede2 smb2: Enforce sec= mount option
If the security type specified using a mount option is not supported,
the SMB2 session setup code changes the security type to RawNTLMSSP. We
should instead fail the mount and return an error.

The patch changes the code for SMB2 to make it similar to the code used
for SMB1. Like in SMB1, we now use the global security flags to select
the security method to be used when no security method is specified and
to return an error when the requested auth method is not available.

For SMB2, we also use ntlmv2 as a synonym for nltmssp.

3f07c01441 sched/headers: Prepare for new header dependencies before moving code to <linux/sched/signal.h>
We are going to split <linux/sched/signal.h> out of <linux/sched.h>, which
will have to be picked up from other headers and a couple of .c files.

Create a trivial placeholder <linux/sched/signal.h> file that just
maps to <linux/sched.h> to make this patch obviously correct and
bisectable.

Include the new header in the files that are going to need it.

0837e49ab3 KEYS: Differentiate uses of rcu_dereference_key() and user_key_payload()
rcu_dereference_key() and user_key_payload() are currently being used in
two different, incompatible ways:

 (1) As a wrapper to rcu_dereference() - when only the RCU read lock used
     to protect the key.

 (2) As a wrapper to rcu_dereference_protected() - when the key semaphor is
     used to protect the key and the may be being modified.

Fix this by splitting both of the key wrappers to produce:

 (1) RCU accessors for keys when caller has the key semaphore locked:

	dereference_key_locked()
	user_key_payload_locked()

 (2) RCU accessors for keys when caller holds the RCU read lock:

	dereference_key_rcu()
	user_key_payload_rcu()

This should fix following warning in the NFS idmapper

374402a2a1 cifs_get_root shouldn't use path with tree name
When a server returns the optional flag SMB_SHARE_IS_IN_DFS in response
to a tree connect, cifs_build_path_to_root() will return a pathname
which includes the hostname. This causes problems with cifs_get_root()
which separates each component and does a lookup for each component of
the path which in this case will incorrectly include looking up the
hostname component as a path component.

We encountered a problem with dfs shares hosted by a Netapp. When
connecting to nodes pointed to by the DFS share. The tree connect for
these nodes return SMB_SHARE_IS_IN_DFS resulting failures in lookup
in cifs_get_root().

The patch was tested against a Netapp simulator and by a user using an
actual Netapp server.

395664439c Fix default behaviour for empty domains and add domainauto option
With commit 2b149f119 many things have been fixed/introduced.
However, the default behaviour for RawNTLMSSP authentication
seems to be wrong in case the domain is not passed on the command line.

The main points (see below) of the patch are:
 - It alignes behaviour with Windows clients
 - It fixes backward compatibility
 - It fixes UPN

I compared this behavour with the one from a Windows 10 command line
client. When no domains are specified on the command line, I traced
the packets and observed that the client does send an empty
domain to the server.
In the linux kernel case, the empty domain is replaced by the
primary domain communicated by the SMB server.
This means that, if the credentials are valid against the local server
but that server is part of a domain, then the kernel module will
ask to authenticate against that domain and we will get LOGON failure.

I compared the packet trace from the smbclient when no domain is passed
and, in that case, a default domain from the client smb.conf is taken.
Apparently, connection succeeds anyway, because when the domain passed
is not valid (in my case WORKGROUP), then the local one is tried and
authentication succeeds. I tried with any kind of invalid domain and
the result was always a connection.

So, trying to interpret what to do and picking a valid domain if none
is passed, seems the wrong thing to do.
To this end, a new option "domainauto" has been added in case the
user wants a mechanism for guessing.

Without this patch, backward compatibility also is broken.
With kernel 3.10, the default auth mechanism was NTLM.
One of our testing servers accepted NTLM and, because no
domains are passed, authentication was local.

Moving to RawNTLMSSP forced us to change our command line
to add a fake domain to pass to prevent this mechanism to kick in.

For the same reasons, UPN is broken because the domain is specified
in the username.
The SMB server will work out the domain from the UPN and authenticate
against the right server.
Without the patch, though, given the domain is empty, it gets replaced
with another domain that could be the wrong one for the authentication.

53e0e11efe CIFS: Fix a possible memory corruption during reconnect
We can not unlock/lock cifs_tcp_ses_lock while walking through ses
and tcon lists because it can corrupt list iterator pointers and
a tcon structure can be released if we don't hold an extra reference.
Fix it by moving a reconnect process to a separate delayed work
and acquiring a reference to every tcon that needs to be reconnected.
Also do not send an echo request on newly established connections.

8b217fe7fc SMB3: parsing for new snapshot timestamp mount parm
New mount option "snapshot=<time>" to allow mounting an earlier
version of the remote volume (if such a snapshot exists on
the server).

Note that eventually specifying a snapshot time of 1 will allow
the user to mount the oldest snapshot. A subsequent patch
add the processing for that and another for actually specifying
the "time warp" create context on SMB2/SMB3 open.

Check to make sure SMB2 negotiated, and ensure that
we use a different tcon if mount same share twice
but with different snaphshot times

b8c600120f Call echo service immediately after socket reconnect
Commit 4fcd1813e6 ("Fix reconnect to not defer smb3 session reconnect
long after socket reconnect") changes the behaviour of the SMB2 echo
service and causes it to renegotiate after a socket reconnect. However
under default settings, the echo service could take up to 120 seconds to
be scheduled.

The patch forces the echo service to be called immediately resulting a
negotiate call being made immediately on reconnect.

141891f472 SMB3: Add mount parameter to allow user to override max credits
Add mount option "max_credits" to allow setting maximum SMB3
credits to any value from 10 to 64000 (default is 32000).
This can be useful to workaround servers with problems allocating
credits, or to throttle the client to use smaller amount of
simultaneous i/o or to workaround server performance issues.

Also adds a cap, so that even if the server granted us more than
65000 credits due to a server bug, we would not use that many.

b782fcc1cb cifs: unbreak TCP session reuse
adfeb3e0 ("cifs: Make echo interval tunable") added a comparison of
vol->echo_interval to server->echo_interval as a criterium to
match_server(), but:

 (1) A default value is set for server->echo_interval but not for
 vol->echo_interval, meaning these can never match if the echo_interval
 option is not specified.

 (2) vol->echo_interval is in seconds but server->echo_interval is in
 jiffies, meaning these can never match even if the echo_interval option
 is specified.

This broke TCP session reuse since match_server() can never return 1.
Fix it.

4fcd1813e6 Fix reconnect to not defer smb3 session reconnect long after socket reconnect
Azure server blocks clients that open a socket and don't do anything on it.
In our reconnect scenarios, we can reconnect the tcp session and
detect the socket is available but we defer the negprot and SMB3 session
setup and tree connect reconnection until the next i/o is requested, but
this looks suspicous to some servers who expect SMB3 negprog and session
setup soon after a socket is created.

In the echo thread, reconnect SMB3 sessions and tree connections
that are disconnected.  A later patch will replay persistent (and
resilient) handle opens.

11e31647c9 cifs: remove any preceding delimiter from prefix_path
We currently do not check if any delimiter exists before the prefix
path in cifs_compose_mount_options(). Consequently when building the
devname using cifs_build_devname() we can end up with multiple
delimiters separating the UNC and the prefix path.

An issue was reported by the customer mounting a folder within a DFS
share from a Netapp server which uses McAfee antivirus. We have
narrowed down the cause to the use of double backslashes in the file
name used to open the file. This was determined to be caused because of
additional delimiters as a result of the bug.

In addition to changes in cifs_build_devname(), we also fix
cifs_parse_devname() to ignore any preceding delimiter for the prefix
path.

The problem was originally reported on RHEL 6 in RHEL bz 1252721. This
is the upstream version of the fix. The fix was confirmed by looking at
the packet capture of a DFS mount.

09cbfeaf1a mm, fs: get rid of PAGE_CACHE_* and page_cache_{get,release} macros
PAGE_CACHE_{SIZE,SHIFT,MASK,ALIGN} macros were introduced *long* time
ago with promise that one day it will be possible to implement page
cache with bigger chunks than PAGE_SIZE.

This promise never materialized.  And unlikely will.

We have many places where PAGE_CACHE_SIZE assumed to be equal to
PAGE_SIZE.  And it's constant source of confusion on whether
PAGE_CACHE_* or PAGE_* constant should be used in a particular case,
especially on the border between fs and mm.

Global switching to PAGE_CACHE_SIZE != PAGE_SIZE would cause to much
breakage to be doable.

Let's stop pretending that pages in page cache are special.  They are
not.

The changes are pretty straight-forward:

 - <foo> << (PAGE_CACHE_SHIFT - PAGE_SHIFT) -> <foo>;

 - <foo> >> (PAGE_CACHE_SHIFT - PAGE_SHIFT) -> <foo>;

 - PAGE_CACHE_{SIZE,SHIFT,MASK,ALIGN} -> PAGE_{SIZE,SHIFT,MASK,ALIGN};

 - page_cache_get() -> get_page();

 - page_cache_release() -> put_page();

This patch contains automated changes generated with coccinelle using
script below.  For some reason, coccinelle doesn't patch header files.
I've called spatch for them manually.

The only adjustment after coccinelle is revert of changes to
PAGE_CAHCE_ALIGN definition: we are going to drop it later.

There are few places in the code where coccinelle didn't reach.  I'll
fix them manually in a separate patch.  Comments and documentation also
will be addressed with the separate patch.

820962dc70 cifs: fix race between call_async() and reconnect()
cifs_call_async() queues the MID to the pending list and calls
smb_send_rqst().  If smb_send_rqst() performs a partial send, it sets
the tcpStatus to CifsNeedReconnect and returns an error code to
cifs_call_async().  In this case, cifs_call_async() removes the MID
from the list and returns to the caller.

However, cifs_call_async() releases the server mutex _before_ removing
the MID.  This means that a cifs_reconnect() can race with this function
and manage to remove the MID from the list and delete the entry before
cifs_call_async() calls cifs_delete_mid().  This leads to various
crashes due to the use after free in cifs_delete_mid().

adfeb3e00e cifs: Make echo interval tunable
Currently the echo interval is set to 60 seconds using a macro. This
setting determines the interval at which echo requests are sent to the
server on an idling connection. This setting also affects the time
required for a connection to an unresponsive server to timeout.

Making this setting a tunable allows users to control the echo interval
times as well as control the time after which the connecting to an
unresponsive server times out.

To set echo interval, pass the echo_interval=n mount option.

Before this patch, only the hostname of the server
is printed when it becomes unresponsive.
This might not be helpful, if the IP-Address has
changed since initial mount when the name was
resolved (e.g. because the IPv6-Prefix changed).

This patch adds the cached IP address of the unresponsive server,
to the log message.

592fafe644 Add resilienthandles mount parm
Since many servers (Windows clients, and non-clustered servers) do not
support persistent handles but do support resilient handles, allow
the user to specify a mount option "resilienthandles" in order
to get more reliable connections and less chance of data loss
(at least when SMB2.1 or later).  Default resilient handle
timeout (120 seconds to recent Windows server) is used.

1dfd18d057 cifs: Unset CIFS_MOUNT_POSIX_PATHS flag when following dfs mounts
In a dfs setup where the client transitions from a server which supports
posix paths to a server which doesn't support posix paths, the flag
CIFS_MOUNT_POSIX_PATHS is not reset. This leads to the wrong directory
separator being used causing smb commands to fail.

Consider the following case where a dfs share on a samba server points
to a share on windows smb server.
 # mount -t cifs -o .. //vm140-31/dfsroot/testwin/
 # ls -l /mnt; touch /mnt/a
 total 0
 touch: cannot touch ‘/mnt/a’: No such file or directory

aab1893d5f Add SMB3.11 mount option synonym for new dialect
Most people think of SMB 3.1.1 as SMB version 3.11 so add synonym
for "vers=3.1.1" of "vers=3.11" on mount.

Also make sure that unlike SMB3.0 and 3.02 we don't send
validate negotiate on mount (it is handled by negotiate contexts) -
add list of SMB3.11 specific functions (distinct from 3.0 dialect).

4afe260bab CIFS: Fix race condition on RFC1002_NEGATIVE_SESSION_RESPONSE
This patch fixes a race condition that occurs when connecting
to a NT 3.51 host without specifying a NetBIOS name.
In that case a RFC1002_NEGATIVE_SESSION_RESPONSE is received
and the SMB negotiation is reattempted, but under some conditions
it leads SendReceive() to hang forever while waiting for srv_mutex.
This, in turn, sets the calling process to an uninterruptible sleep
state and makes it unkillable.

The solution is to unlock the srv_mutex acquired in the demux
thread *before* going to sleep (after the reconnect error) and
before reattempting the connection.

Allocating a large number of elements in atomic context could quickly
deplete memory reserves, so just disallow atomic resizing entirely.

Nothing currently uses mempool_resize() with anything other than
GFP_KERNEL, so convert existing callers to drop the gfp_mask.

2bd50fb3d4 cifs: potential memory leaks when parsing mnt opts
For example, when mount opt is redundently specified
(e.g., "user=A,user=B,user=C"), kernel kept allocating new key/val
with kstrdup() and overwrite previous ptr (to be freed).

Althouhg mount.cifs in userspace performs a bit of sanitization
(e.g., forcing one user option), current implementation is not
robust. Other options such as iocharset and domainanme are similarly
vulnerable.

b4caecd480 fs: introduce f_op->mmap_capabilities for nommu mmap support
Since "BDI: Provide backing device capability information [try #3]" the
backing_dev_info structure also provides flags for the kind of mmap
operation available in a nommu environment, which is entirely unrelated
to it's original purpose.

Introduce a new nommu-only file operation to provide this information to
the nommu mmap code instead.  Splitting this from the backing_dev_info
structure allows to remove lots of backing_dev_info instance that aren't
otherwise needed, and entirely gets rid of the concept of providing a
backing_dev_info for a character device.  It also removes the need for
the mtd_inodefs filesystem.

2baa268253 Remap reserved posix characters by default (part 3/3)
This is a bigger patch, but its size is mostly due to
a single change for how we check for remapping illegal characters
in file names - a lot of repeated, small changes to
the way callers request converting file names.

The final patch in the series does the following:

1) changes default behavior for cifs to be more intuitive.
Currently we do not map by default to seven reserved characters,
ie those valid in POSIX but not in NTFS/CIFS/SMB3/Windows,
unless a mount option (mapchars) is specified.  Change this
to by default always map and map using the SFM maping
(like the Mac uses) unless the server negotiates the CIFS Unix
Extensions (like Samba does when mounting with the cifs protocol)
when the remapping of the characters is unnecessary.  This should
help SMB3 mounts in particular since Samba will likely be
able to implement this mapping with its new "vfs_fruit" module
as it will be doing for the Mac.
2) if the user specifies the existing "mapchars" mount option then
use the "SFU" (Microsoft Services for Unix, SUA) style mapping of
the seven characters instead.
3) if the user specifies "nomapposix" then disable SFM/MAC style mapping
(so no character remapping would be used unless the user specifies
"mapchars" on mount as well, as above).
4) change all the places in the code that check for the superblock
flag on the mount which is set by mapchars and passed in on all
path based operation and change it to use a small function call
instead to set the mapping type properly (and check for the
mapping type in the cifs unicode functions)

db8b631d4b Allow mknod and mkfifo on SMB2/SMB3 mounts
The "sfu" mount option did not work on SMB2/SMB3 mounts.
With these changes when the "sfu" mount option is passed in
on an smb2/smb2.1/smb3 mount the client can emulate (and
recognize) fifo and device (character and device files).

In addition the "sfu" mount option should not conflict
with "mfsymlinks" (symlink emulation) as we will never
create "sfu" style symlinks, but using "sfu" mount option
will allow us to recognize existing symlinks, created with
Microsoft "Services for Unix" (SFU and SUA).

To enable the "sfu" mount option for SMB2/SMB3 the calling
syntax of the generic cifs/smb2/smb3 sync_read and sync_write
protocol dependent function needed to be changed (we
don't have a file struct in all cases), but this actually
ended up simplifying the code a little.

87e747cdb9 cifs: replace strnicmp with strncasecmp
The kernel used to contain two functions for length-delimited,
case-insensitive string comparison, strnicmp with correct semantics and
a slightly buggy strncasecmp.  The latter is the POSIX name, so strnicmp
was renamed to strncasecmp, and strnicmp made into a wrapper for the new
strncasecmp to avoid breaking existing users.

To allow the compat wrapper strnicmp to be removed at some point in the
future, and to avoid the extra indirection cost, do
s/strnicmp/strncasecmp/g.
