In esp6_init_state() for beet mode when x->sel.family != AF_INET6:
x->props.header_len = sizeof(struct ip_esp_hdr) +
crypto_aead_ivsize(aead) + IPV4_BEET_PHMAXLEN +
(sizeof(struct ipv6hdr) - sizeof(struct iphdr))
In xfrm6_beet_gso_segment() skb->transport_header is supposed to move
to the end of the ph header for IPPROTO_BEETPH, so if x->sel.family !=
AF_INET6 and it's IPPROTO_BEETPH, it should do:
skb->transport_header -=
(sizeof(struct ipv6hdr) - sizeof(struct iphdr));
skb->transport_header += ph->hdrlen * 8;
And IPV4_BEET_PHMAXLEN is only reserved for PH header, so if
x->sel.family != AF_INET6 and it's not IPPROTO_BEETPH, it should do:
skb->transport_header -=
(sizeof(struct ipv6hdr) - sizeof(struct iphdr));
skb->transport_header -= IPV4_BEET_PHMAXLEN;

Commit b121b341e5 ("bpf: Add PTR_TO_BTF_ID_OR_NULL
support") adds a field btf_id_or_null_non0_off to
bpf_prog->aux structure to indicate that the
first ctx argument is PTR_TO_BTF_ID reg_type and
all others are PTR_TO_BTF_ID_OR_NULL.
This approach does not really scale if we have
other different reg types in the future, e.g.,
a pointer to a buffer.
This patch enables bpf_iter targets registering ctx argument
reg types which may be different from the default one.
For example, for pointers to structures, the default reg_type
is PTR_TO_BTF_ID for tracing program. The target can register
a particular pointer type as PTR_TO_BTF_ID_OR_NULL which can
be used by the verifier to enforce accesses.

The cipso and calipso code can set the MLS_CAT attribute on
successful parsing, even if the corresponding catmap has
not been allocated, as per current configuration and external
input.
Later, selinux code tries to access the catmap if the MLS_CAT flag

dereference while processing incoming network traffic.
Address the issue setting the MLS_CAT flag only if the catmap is

We currently have to adjust ipv6 route gc_thresh/max_size depending
on number of cpus on a server, this makes very little sense.
If the kernels sets /proc/sys/net/ipv6/route/gc_thresh to 1024

not track the percpu dst that our implementation uses.

We want to have a tighter control on what ports we bind to in
the BPF_CGROUP_INET{4,6}_CONNECT hooks even if it means
connect() becomes slightly more expensive. The expensive part
comes from the fact that we now need to call inet_csk_get_port()
that verifies that the port is not used and allocates an entry
in the hash table for it.
Since we can't rely on "snum || !bind_address_no_port" to prevent
us from calling POST_BIND hook anymore, let's add another bind flag

<linux/cryptohash.h> sounds very generic and important, like it's the
header to include if you're doing cryptographic hashing in the kernel.
But actually it only includes the library implementation of the SHA-1
compression function (not even the full SHA-1). This should basically
never be used anymore; SHA-1 is no longer considered secure, and there
are much better ways to do cryptographic hashing in the kernel.
Most files that include this header don't actually need it. So in
preparation for removing it, remove all these unneeded includes of it.

The library implementation of the SHA-1 compression function is
confusingly called just "sha_transform()". Alongside it are some "SHA_"
constants and "sha_init()". Presumably these are left over from a time
when SHA just meant SHA-1. But now there are also SHA-2 and SHA-3, and
moreover SHA-1 is now considered insecure and thus shouldn't be used.
Therefore, rename these functions and constants to make it very clear
that they are for SHA-1. Also add a comment to make it clear that these
shouldn't be used.
For the extra-misleadingly named "SHA_MESSAGE_BYTES", rename it to
SHA1_BLOCK_SIZE and define it to just '64' rather than '(512/8)' so that
it matches the same definition in <crypto/sha.h>. This prepares for
merging <linux/cryptohash.h> into <crypto/sha.h>.

| ipv6: add mtu lock check in __ip6_rt_update_pmtu
|
| Prior to this patch, ipv6 didn't do mtu lock check in ip6_update_pmtu.
| It leaded to that mtu lock doesn't really work when receiving the pkt
| of ICMPV6_PKT_TOOBIG.
|
| This patch is to add mtu lock check in __ip6_rt_update_pmtu just as ipv4

The above reasoning is incorrect. IPv6 *requires* icmp based pmtu to work.
There's already a comment to this effect elsewhere in the kernel:

The Segment Routing Header (SRH) which defines the SRv6 dataplane is defined
in RFC8754.
RFC8754 (section 4.1) defines the SR source node behavior which encapsulates
packets into an outer IPv6 header and SRH. The SR source node encodes the
full list of Segments that defines the packet path in the SRH. Then, the
first segment from list of Segments is copied into the Destination address
of the outer IPv6 header and the packet is sent to the first hop in its path
towards the destination.
If the Segment list has only one segment, the SR source node can omit the SRH
as he only segment is added in the destination address.
RFC8754 (section 4.1.1) defines the Reduced SRH, when a source does not
require the entire SID list to be preserved in the SRH. A reduced SRH does
not contain the first segment of the related SR Policy (the first segment is
the one already in the DA of the IPv6 header), and the Last Entry field is
set to n-2, where n is the number of elements in the SR Policy.
RFC8754 (section 4.3.1.1) defines the SRH processing and the logic to
validate the SRH (S09, S10, S11) which works for both reduced and
non-reduced behaviors.
This patch updates seg6_validate_srh() to validate the SRH as per RFC8754.

Implement the upcoming rev of RFC4941 (IPv6 temporary addresses):
https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-6man-rfc4941bis-09
* Reduces the default Valid Lifetime to 2 days
The number of extra addresses employed when Valid Lifetime was
7 days exacerbated the stress caused on network
elements/devices. Additionally, the motivation for temporary
addresses is indeed privacy and reduced exposure. With a
default Valid Lifetime of 7 days, an address that becomes
revealed by active communication is reachable and exposed for
one whole week. The only use case for a Valid Lifetime of 7
days could be some application that is expecting to have long
lived connections. But if you want to have a long lived
connections, you shouldn't be using a temporary address in the
first place. Additionally, in the era of mobile devices, general
applications should nevertheless be prepared and robust to
address changes (e.g. nodes swap wifi <-> 4G, etc.)
* Employs different IIDs for different prefixes
To avoid network activity correlation among addresses configured
for different prefixes
* Uses a simpler algorithm for IID generation
No need to store "history" anywhere

Conversion of FIB entries to work with external nexthop objects
missed an important difference between IPv4 and IPv6 - how dst
entries are invalidated when the FIB changes. IPv4 has a per-network
namespace generation id (rt_genid) that is bumped on changes to the FIB.
Checking if a dst_entry is still valid means comparing rt_genid in the
rtable to the current value of rt_genid for the namespace.
IPv6 also has a per network namespace counter, fib6_sernum, but the
count is saved per fib6_node. With the per-node counter only dst_entries
based on fib entries under the node are invalidated when changes are
made to the routes - limiting the scope of invalidations. IPv6 uses a
reference in the rt6_info, 'from', to track the corresponding fib entry
used to create the dst_entry. When validating a dst_entry, the 'from'
is used to backtrack to the fib6_node and check the sernum of it to the
cookie passed to the dst_check operation.
With the inline format (nexthop definition inline with the fib6_info),
dst_entries cached in the fib6_nh have a 1:1 correlation between fib
entries, nexthop data and dst_entries. With external nexthops, IPv6
looks more like IPv4 which means multiple fib entries across disparate
fib6_nodes can all reference the same fib6_nh. That means validation
of dst_entries based on external nexthops needs to use the IPv4 format
- the per-network namespace counter.
Add sernum to rt6_info and set it when creating a pcpu dst entry. Update
rt6_get_cookie to return sernum if it is set and update dst_check for
IPv6 to look for sernum set and based the check on it if so. Finally,
rt6_get_pcpu_route needs to validate the cached entry before returning
a pcpu entry (similar to the rt_cache_valid calls in __mkroute_input and
__mkroute_output for IPv4).
This problem only affects routes using the new, external nexthops.
Thanks to the kbuild test robot for catching the IS_ENABLED needed
around rt_genid_ipv6 before I sent this out.

with old route API by default. Dumps and netlink notifications

Note: Attacks aiming at disabling an advertised prefix via a Valid

that can be performed via forged RA messages, such as those
aiming at completely disabling a next-hop router via an RA that
advertises a Router Lifetime of 0, or performing a Denial of

This patch makes it impossible that cmpri or cmpre values are set to the
value 16 which is not possible, because these are 4 bit values. We
currently run in an overflow when assigning the value 16 to it.
According to the standard a value of 16 can be interpreted as a full
elided address which isn't possible to set as compression value. A reason
why this cannot be set is that the current ipv6 header destination address
should never show up inside the segments of the rpl header. In this case we
run in a overflow and the address will have no compression at all. Means
cmpri or compre is set to 0.
As we handle cmpri and cmpre sometimes as unsigned char or 4 bit value
inside the rpl header the current behaviour ends in an invalid header
format. This patch simple use the best compression method if we ever run
into the case that the destination address is showed up inside the rpl
segments. We avoid the overflow handling and the rpl header is still valid,
even when we have the destination address inside the rpl segments.

For transport mode, when ipv6 nexthdr is set, the packet format might
be like:
----------------------------------------------------
| | dest | | | | ESP | ESP |
| IP6 hdr| opts.| ESP | TCP | Data | Trailer | ICV |
----------------------------------------------------
What it wants to get for x-proto in esp6_gso_encap() is the proto that
will be set in ESP nexthdr. So it should skip all ipv6 nexthdrs and
get the real transport protocol. Othersize, the wrong proto number
will be set into ESP nexthdr.
This patch is to skip all ipv6 nexthdrs by calling ipv6_skip_exthdr()
in esp6_gso_encap().

Since commit fac6fce9bd ("net: icmp6: provide input address for

interface. However, this overrides when source address selection is
influenced by setting preferred source addresses on routes.
This can result in ICMP errors being lost to upstream BCP38 filters
when the wrong source addresses are used, breaking path MTU discovery
and traceroute.
This patch sets the modified source address selection to only take place
when the route used has no prefsrc set.

Looks like addrconf_sysctl_addr_gen_mode() bypasses the original "is

results in an address getting added, while w/the proposed patch added,
no address gets added. This simply adds the same gating check to another
code path, and thus should prevent the same devices from erroneously

Add support for TPROXY via a new bpf helper, bpf_sk_assign().
This helper requires the BPF program to discover the socket via a call
to bpf_sk*_lookup_*(), then pass this socket to the new helper. The
helper takes its own reference to the socket in addition to any existing
reference that may or may not currently be obtained for the duration of
BPF processing. For the destination socket to receive the traffic, the
traffic must be routed towards that socket via local route. The
simplest example route is below, but in practice you may want to route
traffic more narrowly (eg by CIDR):
$ ip route add local default dev lo
This patch avoids trying to introduce an extra bit into the skb->sk, as
that would require more invasive changes to all code interacting with
the socket to ensure that the bit is handled correctly, such as all
error-handling cases along the path from the helper in BPF through to
the orphan path in the input. Instead, we opt to use the destructor
variable to switch on the prefetch of the socket.

This is trivial since we already have support for the entirely
identical (from the kernel's point of view) RDNSS, DNSSL, etc. that
also contain opaque data that needs to be passed down to userspace
for further processing.
As specified in draft-ietf-6man-ra-pref64-09 (while it is still a draft,
it is purely waiting on the RFC Editor for cleanups and publishing):
PREF64 option contains lifetime and a (up to) 96-bit IPv6 prefix.
The 8-bit identifier of the option type as assigned by the IANA is 38.
Since we lack DNS64/NAT64/CLAT support in kernel at the moment,
thus this option should also be passed on to userland.

The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language
extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare
variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2],
introduced in C99:
struct foo {
int stuff;
struct boo array[];
};
By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning
in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which
will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being
inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on.
Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by
this change:
"Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator
may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of
zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1]

Rafał found an issue that for non-Ethernet interface, if we down and up
frequently, the memory will be consumed slowly.
The reason is we add allnodes/allrouters addressed in multicast list in
ipv6_add_dev(). When link down, we call ipv6_mc_down(), store all multicast
addresses via mld_add_delrec(). But when link up, we don't call ipv6_mc_up()
for non-Ethernet interface to remove the addresses. This makes idev->mc_tomb
getting bigger and bigger. The call stack looks like:
addrconf_notify(NETDEV_REGISTER)
ipv6_add_dev
ipv6_dev_mc_inc(ff01::1)
ipv6_dev_mc_inc(ff02::1)
ipv6_dev_mc_inc(ff02::2)
addrconf_notify(NETDEV_UP)
addrconf_dev_config
/* Alas, we support only Ethernet autoconfiguration. */
return;
addrconf_notify(NETDEV_DOWN)
addrconf_ifdown
ipv6_mc_down
igmp6_group_dropped(ff02::2)
mld_add_delrec(ff02::2)
igmp6_group_dropped(ff02::1)
igmp6_group_dropped(ff01::1)
After investigating, I can't found a rule to disable multicast on
non-Ethernet interface. In RFC2460, the link could be Ethernet, PPP, ATM,
tunnels, etc. In IPv4, it doesn't check the dev type when calls ip_mc_up()
in inetdev_event(). Even for IPv6, we don't check the dev type and call
ipv6_add_dev(), ipv6_dev_mc_inc() after register device.
So I think it's OK to fix this memory consumer by calling ipv6_mc_up() for
non-Ethernet interface.

The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language
extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare
variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2],
introduced in C99:
struct foo {
int stuff;
struct boo array[];
};
This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle.

Variables declared in a switch statement before any case statements
cannot be automatically initialized with compiler instrumentation (as
they are not part of any execution flow). With GCC's proposed automatic
stack variable initialization feature, this triggers a warning (and they
don't get initialized). Clang's automatic stack variable initialization
(via CONFIG_INIT_STACK_ALL=y) doesn't throw a warning, but it also
doesn't initialize such variables[1]. Note that these warnings (or silent
skipping) happen before the dead-store elimination optimization phase,
so even when the automatic initializations are later elided in favor of
direct initializations, the warnings remain.
To avoid these problems, move such variables into the "case" where
they're used or lift them up into the main function body.

When splitting an RTA_MULTIPATH request into multiple routes and adding the
second and later components, we must not simply remove NLM_F_REPLACE but
instead replace it by NLM_F_CREATE. Otherwise, it may look like the netlink
message was malformed.
For example,
ip route add 2001:db8::1/128 dev dummy0
ip route change 2001:db8::1/128 nexthop via fe80::30:1 dev dummy0 \
nexthop via fe80::30:2 dev dummy0
results in the following warnings:

[ 1035.057517] IPv6: NLM_F_CREATE should be set when creating new route
This patch makes the nlmsg sequence look equivalent for __ip6_ins_rt() to
what it would get if the multipath route had been added in multiple netlink
operations:
ip route add 2001:db8::1/128 dev dummy0

After commit 2759647247 ("ipv6: fix ECMP route replacement") it is no

For example,
ip route add 2001:db8::1/128 via fe80::1 dev dummy0
ip route replace 2001:db8::1/128 dev dummy0
does not work as expected.
Tweak the replacement logic so that point 3 in the log of the above commit
becomes:
3. If the new route is not ECMP-able, and no matching non-ECMP-able route
exists, replace matching ECMP-able route (if any) or add the new route.
We can now summarize the entire replace semantics to:
When doing a replace, prefer replacing a matching route of the same
"ECMP-able-ness" as the replace argument. If there is no such candidate,
fallback to the first route found.

Implements the infrastructure for MPTCP sockets.
MPTCP sockets open one in-kernel TCP socket per subflow. These subflow
sockets are only managed by the MPTCP socket that owns them and are not
visible from userspace. This commit allows a userspace program to open
an MPTCP socket with:
sock = socket(AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_MPTCP);
The resulting socket is simply a wrapper around a single regular TCP
socket, without any of the MPTCP protocol implemented over the wire.

After LRO/GRO is applied, SRv6 encapsulated packets have
SKB_GSO_IPXIP6 feature flag, and this flag must be removed right after
decapulation procedure.
Currently, SKB_GSO_IPXIP6 flag is not removed on End.D* actions, which
creates inconsistent packet state, that is, a normal TCP/IP packets
have the SKB_GSO_IPXIP6 flag. This behavior can cause unexpected
fallback to GSO on routing to netdevices that do not support
SKB_GSO_IPXIP6. For example, on inter-VRF forwarding, decapsulated
packets separated into small packets by GSO because VRF devices do not
support TSO for packets with SKB_GSO_IPXIP6 flag, and this degrades
forwarding performance.
This patch removes encapsulation related GSO flags from the skb right
after the End.D* action is applied.

The l3index comes from the skb when processing ingress packets leveraging
the helpers created for socket lookups, tcp_v4_sdif and inet_iif (and the
v6 variants). When the sdif index is set it means the packet ingressed a
device that is part of an L3 domain and inet_iif points to the VRF device.

When a new listener is registered to the FIB notification chain it
receives a dump of all the available routes in the system. Instead, make
sure to only replay the IPv6 routes that are actually used in the data
path and are of any interest to the new listener.
This is done by iterating over all the routing tables in the given
namespace, but from each traversed node only the first route ('leaf') is
notified. Multipath routes are notified in a single notification instead
of one for each nexthop.
Add fib6_rt_dump_tmp() to do that. Later on in the patch set it will be
renamed to fib6_rt_dump() instead of the existing one.

In a similar fashion to previous patches, only notify the new multipath
route if it is the first route in the node or if it was appended to such
route.
The type of the notification (replace vs. append) is determined based on
the number of routes added ('nhn') and the number of sibling routes. If
the two do not match, then an append notification should be sent.

fib6_add_rt2node() takes care of adding a single route ('struct
fib6_info') to a FIB node. The route in question should only be notified
in case it is added as the first route in the node (lowest metric) or if
it is added as a sibling route to the first route in the node.
The first criterion can be tested by checking if the route is pointed to
by 'fn->leaf'. The second criterion can be tested by checking the new
'notify_sibling_rt' variable that is set when the route is added as a
sibling to the first route in the node.

The MTU update code is supposed to be invoked in response to real
networking events that update the PMTU. In IPv6 PMTU update function
__ip6_rt_update_pmtu() we called dst_confirm_neigh() to update neighbor
confirmed time.
But for tunnel code, it will call pmtu before xmit, like:
- tnl_update_pmtu()
- skb_dst_update_pmtu()
- ip6_rt_update_pmtu()
- __ip6_rt_update_pmtu()
- dst_confirm_neigh()
If the tunnel remote dst mac address changed and we still do the neigh
confirm, we will not be able to update neigh cache and ping6 remote
will failed.
So for this ip_tunnel_xmit() case, _EVEN_ if the MTU is changed, we
should not be invoking dst_confirm_neigh() as we have no evidence
of successful two-way communication at this point.
On the other hand it is also important to keep the neigh reachability fresh
for TCP flows, so we cannot remove this dst_confirm_neigh() call.
To fix the issue, we have to add a new bool parameter for dst_ops.update_pmtu
to choose whether we should do neigh update or not. I will add the parameter
in this patch and set all the callers to true to comply with the previous
way, and fix the tunnel code one by one on later patches.

ipv6_stub uses the ip6_dst_lookup function to allow other modules to
perform IPv6 lookups. However, this function skips the XFRM layer
entirely.
All users of ipv6_stub->ip6_dst_lookup use ip_route_output_flow (via the
ip_route_output_key and ip_route_output helpers) for their IPv4 lookups,
which calls xfrm_lookup_route(). This patch fixes this inconsistent
behavior by switching the stub to ip6_dst_lookup_flow, which also calls
xfrm_lookup_route().
This requires some changes in all the callers, as these two functions

Note that the sysctl write accessor functions guarantee that:
net->ipv4.sysctl_ip_prot_sock <= net->ipv4.ip_local_ports.range[0]
invariant is maintained, and as such the max() in selinux hooks is actually spurious.
ie. even though
if (snum < max(inet_prot_sock(sock_net(sk)), low) || snum > high) {
per logic is the same as
if ((snum < inet_prot_sock(sock_net(sk)) && snum < low) || snum > high) {
it is actually functionally equivalent to:
if (snum < low || snum > high) {
which is equivalent to:
if (snum < inet_prot_sock(sock_net(sk)) || snum < low || snum > high) {
even though the first clause is spurious.
But we want to hold on to it in case we ever want to change what what
inet_port_requires_bind_service() means (for example by changing
it from a, by default, [0..1024) range to some sort of set).

End.DT6 behavior makes use of seg6_lookup_nexthop() function which drops
all packets that are destined to be locally processed. However, DT* should
be able to deliver decapsulated packets that are destined to local
addresses. Function seg6_lookup_nexthop() is also used by DX6, so in order
to maintain compatibility I created another routing helper function which
is called seg6_lookup_any_nexthop(). This function is able to take into
account both packets that have to be processed locally and the ones that
are destined to be forwarded directly to another machine. Hence,
seg6_lookup_any_nexthop() is used in DT6 rather than seg6_lookup_nexthop()

When doing RX batch packet processing, we currently always repeat
the route lookup for each ingress packet. When no custom rules are
in place, and there aren't routes depending on source addresses,
we know that packets with the same destination address will use
the same dst.
This change tries to avoid per packet route lookup caching
the destination address of the latest successful lookup, and
reusing it for the next packet when the above conditions are
in place. Ingress traffic for most servers should fit.

In the worst-case scenario - each packet has a different

in the receive path (more precisely in ip6_rcv_core()) the
skb->transport_header is set to skb->network_header + sizeof(*hdr). As a
consequence, after routing operations, destination input expects to find
skb->transport_header correctly set to the next protocol (or extension
header) that follows the network protocol. However, decap behaviors (DX*,
DT*) remove the outer IPv6 and SRH extension and do not set again the
skb->transport_header pointer correctly. For this reason, the patch sets

This patch adds the dataplane hardware offload to the flowtable
infrastructure. Three new flags represent the hardware state of this
flow:
* FLOW_OFFLOAD_HW: This flow entry resides in the hardware.
* FLOW_OFFLOAD_HW_DYING: This flow entry has been scheduled to be remove
from hardware. This might be triggered by either packet path (via TCP
RST/FIN packet) or via aging.
* FLOW_OFFLOAD_HW_DEAD: This flow entry has been already removed from
the hardware, the software garbage collector can remove it from the
software flowtable.
This patch supports for:
* IPv4 only.
* Aging via FLOW_CLS_STATS, no packet and byte counter synchronization

traceroute6 output can be confusing, in that it shows the address
that a router would use to reach the sender, rather than the address
the packet used to reach the router.
Consider this case:
------------------------ N2
| |
------ ------ N3 ----
| R1 | | R2 |------|H2|
------ ------ ----
| |
------------------------ N1
|
----
|H1|
----
where H1's default route is through R1, and R1's default route is
through R2 over N2.
traceroute6 from H1 to H2 shows R2's address on N1 rather than on N2.
The script below can be used to reproduce this scenario.
traceroute6 output without this patch:
traceroute to 2000:103::4 (2000:103::4), 30 hops max, 80 byte packets

[..]
list_for_each_entry_safe(skb, next, head, list) {
/* iterates list */

}
/* sublist is empty -> curr_net is NULL */
ip6_sublist_rcv(&sublist, curr_dev, curr_net);
Before the recent change NF_HOOK_LIST did a list iteration before
struct net deref, i.e. it was a no-op in the empty list case.
List iteration now happens after *net deref, causing crash.
Follow the same pattern as the ip(v6)_list_rcv loop and add a list_empty
test for the final sublist dispatch too.

Thomas found that some forwarded packets would be stuck
in FQ packet scheduler because their skb->tstamp contained
timestamps far in the future.
We thought we addressed this point in commit 8203e2d844
("net: clear skb->tstamp in forwarding paths") but there
is still an issue when/if a packet needs to be fragmented.
In order to meet EDT requirements, we have to make sure all
fragments get the original skb->tstamp.
Note that this original skb->tstamp should be zero in
forwarding path, but might have a non zero value in
output path if user decided so.

While invalidating the dst, we assign backhole_netdev instead of
loopback device. However, this device does not have idev pointer
and hence no ip6_ptr even if IPv6 is enabled. Possibly this has
triggered the syzbot reported crash.
The syzbot report does not have reproducer, however, this is the
only device that doesn't have matching idev created.
Crash instruction is :
static inline bool ip6_ignore_linkdown(const struct net_device *dev)
{
const struct inet6_dev *idev = __in6_dev_get(dev);
return !!idev->cnf.ignore_routes_with_linkdown; <= crash
}
Also ipv6 always assumes presence of idev and never checks for it
being NULL (as does the above referenced code). So adding a idev
for the blackhole_netdev to avoid this class of crashes in the future.

Both tcp_v4_err() and tcp_v6_err() do the following operations
while they do not own the socket lock :
fastopen = tp->fastopen_rsk;
snd_una = fastopen ? tcp_rsk(fastopen)->snt_isn : tp->snd_una;
The problem is that without appropriate barrier, the compiler
might reload tp->fastopen_rsk and trigger a NULL deref.
request sockets are protected by RCU, we can simply add
the missing annotations and barriers to solve the issue.

addrconf_dad_work is kicked to be scheduled when a device is brought

occurs.
Since the DAD sequence can not be aborted, add a check for the missing
host route in __ipv6_ifa_notify. The only way this should happen is due
to the previously mentioned race. The host route is created when the
address is added to an interface; it is only removed on a down event
where the address is kept. Add a warning if the host route is missing
AND the device is up; this is a situation that should never happen.

Prior to this change an application sending <= 1MSS worth of data and
enabling UDP GSO would fail if the system had SW GSO enabled, but the
same send would succeed if HW GSO offload is enabled. In addition to this
inconsistency the error in the SW GSO case does not get back to the
application if sending out of a real device so the user is unaware of this
failure.
With this change we only perform GSO if the # of segments is > 1 even
if the application has enabled segmentation. I've also updated the

This began with a syzbot report. syzkaller was injecting
IPv6 TCP SYN packets having a v4mapped source address.
After an unsuccessful 4-tuple lookup, TCP creates a request
socket (SYN_RECV) and calls reqsk_queue_hash_req()
reqsk_queue_hash_req() calls sk_ehashfn(sk)
At this point we have AF_INET6 sockets, and the heuristic
used by sk_ehashfn() to either hash the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses
is to use ipv6_addr_v4mapped(&sk->sk_v6_daddr)
For the particular spoofed packet, we end up hashing V4 addresses
which were not initialized by the TCP IPv6 stack, so KMSAN fired
a warning.
I first fixed sk_ehashfn() to test both source and destination addresses,
but then faced various problems, including user-space programs
like packetdrill that had similar assumptions.
Instead of trying to fix the whole ecosystem, it is better
to admit that we have a dual stack behavior, and that we
can not build linux kernels without V4 stack anyway.
The dual stack API automatically forces the traffic to be IPv4
if v4mapped addresses are used at bind() or connect(), so it makes
no sense to allow IPv6 traffic to use the same v4mapped class.

addrconf_dad_work is kicked to be scheduled when a device is brought
up. There is a race between addrcond_dad_work getting scheduled and
taking the rtnl lock and a process taking the link down (under rtnl).
The latter removes the host route from the inet6_addr as part of
addrconf_ifdown which is run for NETDEV_DOWN. The former attempts
to use the host route in ipv6_ifa_notify. If the down event removes
the host route due to the race to the rtnl, then the BUG listed above
occurs.
This scenario does not occur when the ipv6 address is not kept
(net.ipv6.conf.all.keep_addr_on_down = 0) as addrconf_ifdown sets the
state of the ifp to DEAD. Handle when the addresses are kept by checking
IF_READY which is reset by addrconf_ifdown.
The 'dead' flag for an inet6_addr is set only under rtnl, in
addrconf_ifdown and it means the device is getting removed (or IPv6 is
disabled). The interesting cases for changing the idev flag are
addrconf_notify (NETDEV_UP and NETDEV_CHANGE) and addrconf_ifdown
(reset the flag). The former does not have the idev lock - only rtnl;
the latter has both. Based on that the existing dead + IF_READY check
can be moved to right after the rtnl_lock in addrconf_dad_work.

commit 174e23810c
("sk_buff: drop all skb extensions on free and skb scrubbing") made napi
recycle always drop skb extensions. The additional skb_ext_del() that is
performed via nf_reset on napi skb recycle is not needed anymore.
Most nf_reset() calls in the stack are there so queued skb won't block
'rmmod nf_conntrack' indefinitely.
This removes the skb_ext_del from nf_reset, and renames it to a more
fitting nf_reset_ct().
In a few selected places, add a call to skb_ext_reset to make sure that
no active extensions remain.

have a zero skb->priority, which can cause various problems.
In this patch we :
- add a tw_priority field in struct inet_timewait_sock.
- populate it from sk->sk_priority when a TIME_WAIT is created.
- For IPv4, change ip_send_unicast_reply() and its two

UDP reuseport groups can hold a mix unconnected and connected sockets.
Ensure that connections only receive all traffic to their 4-tuple.
Fast reuseport returns on the first reuseport match on the assumption
that all matches are equal. Only if connections are present, return to
the previous behavior of scoring all sockets.
Record if connections are present and if so (1) treat such connected
sockets as an independent match from the group, (2) only return
2-tuple matches from reuseport and (3) do not return on the first
2-tuple reuseport match to allow for a higher scoring match later.
New field has_conns is set without locks. No other fields in the

This is analogous to existing support for TOS, TTL, txtime, etc.
Packet sockets already support this as of commit c7d39e3263

This is the equivalent of commit 2c6b55f45d ("ipv6: fix neighbour
resolution with raw socket") for ip6_confirm_neigh(): we can send a
packet with MSG_CONFIRM on a raw socket for a connected route, so the
gateway would be :: here, and we should pick the next hop using
rt6_nexthop() instead.
This was found by code review and, to the best of my knowledge, doesn't
actually fix a practical issue: the destination address from the packet
is not considered while confirming a neighbour, as ip6_confirm_neigh()
calls choose_neigh_daddr() without passing the packet, so there are no
similar issues as the one fixed by said commit.
A possible source of issues with the existing implementation might come
from the fact that, if we have a cached dst, we won't consider it,
while rt6_nexthop() takes care of that. I might just not be creative
enough to find a practical problem here: the only way to affect this
with cached routes is to have one coming from an ICMPv6 redirect, but
if the next hop is a directly connected host, there should be no
topology for which a redirect applies here, and tests with redirected
routes show no differences for MSG_CONFIRM (and MSG_PROBE) packets on
raw sockets destined to a directly connected host.
However, directly using the dst gateway here is not consistent anymore
with neighbour resolution, and, in general, as we want the next hop,
using rt6_nexthop() looks like the only sane way to fetch it.

This is a re-post of previous patch wrote by David Miller[1].
Phil Karn reported[2] that on busy networks with lots of unresolved
multicast routing entries, the creation of new multicast group routes
can be extremely slow and unreliable.
The reason is we hard-coded multicast route entries with unresolved source
addresses(cache_resolve_queue_len) to 10. If some multicast route never
resolves and the unresolved source addresses increased, there will
be no ability to create new multicast route cache.
To resolve this issue, we need either add a sysctl entry to make the
cache_resolve_queue_len configurable, or just remove cache_resolve_queue_len
limit directly, as we already have the socket receive queue limits of mrouted
socket, pointed by David.
>From my side, I'd perfer to remove the cache_resolve_queue_len limit instead
of creating two more(IPv4 and IPv6 version) sysctl entry.

Currently, ipv6_find_idev returns NULL when ipv6_add_dev fails,
ignoring the specific error value. This results in addrconf_add_dev
returning ENOBUFS in all cases, which is unfortunate in cases such as:
# ip link add dummyX type dummy
# ip link set dummyX mtu 1200 up
# ip addr add 2000::/64 dev dummyX
RTNETLINK answers: No buffer space available
Commit a317a2f19d ("ipv6: fail early when creating netdev named all
or default") introduced error returns in ipv6_add_dev. Before that,
that function would simply return NULL for all failures.
