The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart
from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks.
To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return
void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to
.remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers
are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove().
Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove
callback to the void returning variant.

There is a dead-lock in the hwrng device read path. This triggers
when the user reads from /dev/hwrng into memory also mmap-ed from
/dev/hwrng. The resulting page fault triggers a recursive read
which then dead-locks.
Fix this by using a stack buffer when calling copy_to_user.

The AGP subsystem supports a user-space interface via /dev/agpgart. It
is only enabled with DRM support for mode setting in user space. (i.e.,
CONFIG_DRM_LEGACY). All of that DRM code has been removed and the option
will go away. Hence remove the AGP frontend.
Modern DRM drivers with kernel mode setting handle AGP support internally.

The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate
of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus.
As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they
"temporarily" include each other and pull in various other headers. In
preparation to fix this, adjust the includes for what is actually needed.
of_device.h isn't needed, but of.h is and was implicitly included by it.

ipmi: refactor deprecated strncpy
To help make the move of sysctls out of kernel/sysctl.c not incur a size
penalty sysctl has been changed to allow us to not require the sentinel, the
final empty element on the sysctl array. Joel Granados has been doing all this
work. On the v6.6 kernel we got the major infrastructure changes required to
support this. For v6.7-rc1 we have all arch/ and drivers/ modified to remove
the sentinel. Both arch and driver changes have been on linux-next for a bit
less than a month. It is worth re-iterating the value:
- this helps reduce the overall build time size of the kernel and run time
memory consumed by the kernel by about ~64 bytes per array
- the extra 64-byte penalty is no longer inncurred now when we move sysctls
out from kernel/sysctl.c to their own files
For v6.8-rc1 expect removal of all the sentinels and also then the unneeded
check for procname == NULL.
The last 2 patches are fixes recently merged by Krister Johansen which allow
us again to use softlockup_panic early on boot. This used to work but the
alias work broke it. This is useful for folks who want to detect softlockups
super early rather than wait and spend money on cloud solutions with nothing
but an eventual hung kernel. Although this hadn't gone through linux-next it's

Pull sysctl updates from Luis Chamberlain:
"To help make the move of sysctls out of kernel/sysctl.c not incur a
size penalty sysctl has been changed to allow us to not require the
sentinel, the final empty element on the sysctl array. Joel Granados
has been doing all this work. On the v6.6 kernel we got the major
infrastructure changes required to support this. For v6.7-rc1 we have
all arch/ and drivers/ modified to remove the sentinel. Both arch and
driver changes have been on linux-next for a bit less than a month. It
is worth re-iterating the value:
- this helps reduce the overall build time size of the kernel and run
time memory consumed by the kernel by about ~64 bytes per array
- the extra 64-byte penalty is no longer inncurred now when we move
sysctls out from kernel/sysctl.c to their own files
For v6.8-rc1 expect removal of all the sentinels and also then the
unneeded check for procname == NULL.
The last two patches are fixes recently merged by Krister Johansen
which allow us again to use softlockup_panic early on boot. This used
to work but the alias work broke it. This is useful for folks who want
to detect softlockups super early rather than wait and spend money on
cloud solutions with nothing but an eventual hung kernel. Although
this hadn't gone through linux-next it's also a stable fix, so we
might as well roll through the fixes now"

This allows splicing zeroed pages into a pipe, and allows discarding
pages from a pipe by splicing them to /dev/zero. Writing to /dev/zero
should have the same effect as writing to /dev/null, and a
"splice_write" implementation exists only for /dev/null.

Set a more reasonable timeout for calculating the initial seed.
The reference manuals says that "The initial seed takes approximately
2,000,000 clock cycles." The rngc peripheral clock runs at >= 33.25MHz,

When the membase and pci_dev pointer were moved to a new struct in priv,
the actual membase users were left untouched, and they started reading
out arbitrary memory behind the struct instead of registers. This
unfortunately turned the RNG into a constant number generator, depending
on the content of what was at that offset.
To fix this, update geode_rng_data_{read,present}() to also get the
membase via amd_geode_priv, and properly read from the right addresses
again.

`strncpy` is deprecated for use on NUL-terminated destination strings [1].
In this case, strncpy is being used specifically for its NUL-padding
behavior (and has been commented as such). Moreover, the destination
string is not required to be NUL-terminated [2].
We can use a more robust and less ambiguous interface in
`memcpy_and_pad` which makes the code more readable and even eliminates
the need for that comment.
Let's also use `strnlen` instead of `strlen()` with an upper-bounds
check as this is intrinsically a part of `strnlen`.
Also included in this patch is a simple 1:1 change of `strncpy` to
`strscpy` for ipmi_ssif.c. If NUL-padding is wanted here as well then we
should opt again for `strscpy_pad`.

The Itanium architecture is obsolete, and an informal survey [0] reveals
that any residual use of Itanium hardware in production is mostly HP-UX
or OpenVMS based. The use of Linux on Itanium appears to be limited to
enthusiasts that occasionally boot a fresh Linux kernel to see whether
things are still working as intended, and perhaps to churn out some
distro packages that are rarely used in practice.
None of the original companies behind Itanium still produce or support
any hardware or software for the architecture, and it is listed as
'Orphaned' in the MAINTAINERS file, as apparently, none of the engineers
that contributed on behalf of those companies (nor anyone else, for that
matter) have been willing to support or maintain the architecture
upstream or even be responsible for applying the odd fix. The Intel
firmware team removed all IA-64 support from the Tianocore/EDK2
reference implementation of EFI in 2018. (Itanium is the original
architecture for which EFI was developed, and the way Linux supports it
deviates significantly from other architectures.) Some distros, such as
Debian and Gentoo, still maintain [unofficial] ia64 ports, but many have
dropped support years ago.
While the argument is being made [1] that there is a 'for the common
good' angle to being able to build and run existing projects such as the
Grid Community Toolkit [2] on Itanium for interoperability testing, the
fact remains that none of those projects are known to be deployed on
Linux/ia64, and very few people actually have access to such a system in
the first place. Even if there were ways imaginable in which Linux/ia64
could be put to good use today, what matters is whether anyone is
actually doing that, and this does not appear to be the case.
There are no emulators widely available, and so boot testing Itanium is
generally infeasible for ordinary contributors. GCC still supports IA-64
but its compile farm [3] no longer has any IA-64 machines. GLIBC would
like to get rid of IA-64 [4] too because it would permit some overdue
code cleanups. In summary, the benefits to the ecosystem of having IA-64
be part of it are mostly theoretical, whereas the maintenance overhead
of keeping it supported is real.
So let's rip off the band aid, and remove the IA-64 arch code entirely.
This follows the timeline proposed by the Debian/ia64 maintainer [5],
which removes support in a controlled manner, leaving IA-64 in a known
good state in the most recent LTS release. Other projects will follow
once the kernel support is removed.

The vendor check introduced by commit 554b841d47 ("tpm: Disable RNG for
all AMD fTPMs") doesn't work properly on a number of Intel fTPMs. On the
reported systems the TPM doesn't reply at bootup and returns back the
command code. This makes the TPM fail probe on Lenovo Legion Y540 laptop.
Since only Microsoft Pluton is the only known combination of AMD CPU and
fTPM from other vendor, disable hwrng otherwise. In order to make sysadmin
aware of this, print also info message to the klog.

TPM devices may insert wait state on last clock cycle of ADDR phase.
For SPI controllers that support full-duplex transfers, this can be
detected using software by reading the MISO line. For SPI controllers
that only support half-duplex transfers, such as the Tegra QSPI, it is
not possible to detect the wait signal from software. The QSPI
controller in Tegra234 and Tegra241 implement hardware detection of the
wait signal which can be enabled in the controller for TPM devices.
The current TPM TIS driver only supports software detection of the wait
signal. To support SPI controllers that use hardware to detect the wait
signal, add the function tpm_tis_spi_transfer_half() and move the
existing code for software based detection into a function called
tpm_tis_spi_transfer_full(). SPI controllers that only support
half-duplex transfers will always call tpm_tis_spi_transfer_half()
because they cannot support software based detection. The bit
SPI_TPM_HW_FLOW is set to indicate to the SPI controller that hardware
detection is required and it is the responsibility of the SPI controller
driver to determine if this is supported or not.
For hardware flow control, CMD-ADDR-DATA messages are combined into a
single message where as for software flow control exiting method of
CMD-ADDR in a message and DATA in another is followed.

default (and tbh recommended) behaviour is now the polling mode, the
"tristate" workaround is no longer for benefit.
If someone wants to explicitly enable IRQs for a TPM chip that should be
without question allowed. It could very well be a piece hardware in the
existing deny list because of e.g. firmware update or something similar.
While at it, document the module parameter, as this was not done in 2006
when it first appeared in the mainline.

| 'const void *' [-Werror,-Wvoid-pointer-to-enum-cast]

This is due to the fact that the `si_type` enum members are int-width
and a cast from pointer-width down to int will cause truncation and
possible data loss. Although in this case `si_type` has only a few
enumerated fields and thus there is likely no data loss occurring.
Nonetheless, this patch is necessary to the goal of promoting this
warning out of W=1.

recv_data either returns the number of received bytes, or a negative value
representing an error code. Adding the return value directly to the total
number of received bytes therefore looks a little weird, since it might add
a negative error code to a sum of bytes.
The following check for size < expected usually makes the function return
ETIME in that case, so it does not cause too many problems in practice. But
to make the code look cleaner and because the caller might still be
interested in the original error code, explicitly check for the presence of
an error code and pass that through.

The nomadik driver uses devres to register itself with the hwrng core,
the driver will be unregistered from hwrng when its device goes out of
scope. This happens after the driver's remove function is called.
However, nomadik's clock is disabled in the remove function. There's a
short timeframe where nomadik is still registered with the hwrng core
although its clock is disabled. I suppose the clock must be active to
access the hardware and serve requests from the hwrng core.
Switch to devm_clk_get_enabled and let devres disable the clock and
unregister the hwrng. This avoids the race condition.

After activation of interrupts for TPM TIS drivers 0-day reports an
interrupt storm on an Inspur NF5180M6 server.
Fix this by detecting the storm and falling back to polling:
Count the number of unhandled interrupts within a 10 ms time interval. In
case that more than 1000 were unhandled deactivate interrupts entirely,
deregister the handler and use polling instead.
Also print a note to point to the tpm_tis_dmi_table.
Since the interrupt deregistration function devm_free_irq() waits for all
interrupt handlers to finish, only trigger a worker in the interrupt
handler and do the unregistration in the worker to avoid a deadlock.
Note: the storm detection logic equals the implementation in
note_interrupt() which uses timestamps and counters stored in struct
irq_desc. Since this structure is private to the generic interrupt core
the TPM TIS core uses its own timestamps and counters. Furthermore the TPM
interrupt handler always returns IRQ_HANDLED to prevent the generic
interrupt core from processing the interrupt storm.

The failure paths in tpm_tis_spi_transfer() do not deactivate
chip select. Send an empty message (cs_select == 0) to overcome
this.
The patch is tested by two ways.
One way needs to touch hardware:
1. force pull MISO pin down to GND, it emulates a forever
'WAIT' timing.
2. probe cs pin by an oscilloscope.
3. load tpm_tis_spi.ko.
After loading, dmesg prints:
"probe of spi0.0 failed with error -110"
and oscilloscope shows cs pin goes high(deactivated) after
the failure. Before the patch, cs pin keeps low.
Second way is by writing a fake spi controller.
1. implement .transfer_one method, fill all rx buf with 0.
2. implement .set_cs method, print the state of cs pin.
we can see cs goes high after the failure.

it should disable irq before lock acquisition otherwise deadlock could

Possible deadlock scenario:
aspeed_kcs_check_obe() (timer)
-> kcs_bmc_handle_event()
-> spin_lock(&kcs_bmc->lock)
<irq interruption>
-> aspeed_kcs_irq()

The problem was that when an error occurred before handlers registration
and after allocating `new_smi->si_sm`, the variable wouldn't be freed in
the error handling afterwards since `shutdown_smi()` hadn't been
registered yet. Fix it by adding a `kfree()` in the error handling path
in `try_smi_init()`.

Pull splice updates from Jens Axboe:
"This kills off ITER_PIPE to avoid a race between truncate,
iov_iter_revert() on the pipe and an as-yet incomplete DMA to a bio
with unpinned/unref'ed pages from an O_DIRECT splice read. This causes
memory corruption.
Instead, we either use (a) filemap_splice_read(), which invokes the
buffered file reading code and splices from the pagecache into the
pipe; (b) copy_splice_read(), which bulk-allocates a buffer, reads
into it and then pushes the filled pages into the pipe; or (c) handle
it in filesystem-specific code.
Summary:
- Rename direct_splice_read() to copy_splice_read()
- Simplify the calculations for the number of pages to be reclaimed
in copy_splice_read()
- Turn do_splice_to() into a helper, vfs_splice_read(), so that it
can be used by overlayfs and coda to perform the checks on the
lower fs
- Make vfs_splice_read() jump to copy_splice_read() to handle
direct-I/O and DAX
- Provide shmem with its own splice_read to handle non-existent pages
in the pagecache. We don't want a ->read_folio() as we don't want
to populate holes, but filemap_get_pages() requires it
- Provide overlayfs with its own splice_read to call down to a lower
layer as overlayfs doesn't provide ->read_folio()
- Provide coda with its own splice_read to call down to a lower layer
as coda doesn't provide ->read_folio()
- Direct ->splice_read to copy_splice_read() in tty, procfs, kernfs
and random files as they just copy to the output buffer and don't
splice pages
- Provide wrappers for afs, ceph, ecryptfs, ext4, f2fs, nfs, ntfs3,
ocfs2, orangefs, xfs and zonefs to do locking and/or revalidation
- Make cifs use filemap_splice_read()
- Replace pointers to generic_file_splice_read() with pointers to
filemap_splice_read() as DIO and DAX are handled in the caller;
filesystems can still provide their own alternate ->splice_read()
op
- Remove generic_file_splice_read()
- Remove ITER_PIPE and its paraphernalia as generic_file_splice_read
was the only user"

The st-rng driver uses devres to register itself with the hwrng core,
the driver will be unregistered from hwrng when its device goes out of
scope. This happens after the driver's remove function is called.
However, st-rng's clock is disabled in the remove function. There's a
short timeframe where st-rng is still registered with the hwrng core
although its clock is disabled. I suppose the clock must be active to
access the hardware and serve requests from the hwrng core.
Switch to devm_clk_get_enabled and let devres disable the clock and
unregister the hwrng. This avoids the race condition.

When probing for an ACPI-specified IPMI device, the code would request
that the acpi_ipmi module be loaded ACPI operations through IPMI can be
performed. This could happen through module load context, for instance,
if an I2C module is loaded that caused the IPMI interface to be probed.
This is not allowed because a synchronous module load in this context
can result in an deadlock, and I was getting a warning:

The adapter scan ssif_info_find() sets info->adapter_name if the adapter
info came from SMBIOS, as it's not set in that case. However, this
function can be called more than once, and it will leak the adapter name

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart
from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks.
To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return
void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to
.remove_new() which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers
are converted, .remove_new() is renamed to .remove().
Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove
callback to the void returning variant.

The unxlate_dev_mem_ptr() function has no prototype on the mips
architecture, which does not include asm-generic/io.h, so gcc warns
about the __weak definition:
drivers/char/mem.c:94:29: error: no previous prototype for 'unxlate_dev_mem_ptr' [-Werror=missing-prototypes]
Since everyone else already gets the generic definition or has a custom
one, there is not really much point in having a __weak version as well.
Remove this one, and instead add a trivial macro to the mips header.
Once we convert mips to use the asm-generic header, this can go away
again.

With commit 858e8b792d ("tpm, tpm_tis: Avoid cache incoherency in test

However these functions expect bit numbers, while the flags are defined
as bit masks in enum tpm_tis_flag.
Fix this inconsistency by using numbers instead of masks also for the
flags in the enum.

Use copy_splice_read() for tty, procfs, kernfs and random files rather
than going through generic_file_splice_read() as they just copy the file
into the output buffer and don't splice pages. This avoids the need for
them to have a ->read_folio() to satisfy filemap_splice_read().

Mark the imx_rngc_probe function as __init.
There's no need to support hotplugging in the imx-rngc driver. We use
module_platform_driver_probe, the probe function will only be called at
startup.

Rewrite the defines for register bits to use BIT(x) instead of writing
out the 32-bit number. This makes it easier to compare the code with the
register descriptions in the reference manual.

The "level" field in the status register contains the number of random
bytes that are available in the FIFO. Use GENMASK to extract this field.
We only want to check if level is 0 or if we can read another byte.
There's no need for the shift or the level variable.

Interrupts got recently enabled for tpm_tis.
The interrupts initially works on the device but they will stop arriving
after circa ~200 interrupts. On system reboot/shutdown this will cause a
long wait (120000 jiffies).

The P360 Tiny suffers from an irq storm issue like the T490s, so add
an entry for it to tpm_tis_dmi_table, and force polling. There also
previously was a report from the previous attempt to enable interrupts
that involved a ThinkPad L490. So an entry is added for it as well.

Set TPM_CHIP_FLAG_SUSPENDED in tpm_pm_suspend() and reset in
tpm_pm_resume(). While the flag is set, tpm_hwrng() gives back zero

Before sending a TPM command, CLKRUN protocol must be disabled. This is not
done in the case of tpm1_do_selftest() call site inside tpm_tis_resume().
Address this by decorating the calls with tpm_chip_{start,stop}, which
should be always used to arm and disarm the TPM chip for transmission.
Finally, move the call to the main TPM driver callback as the last step
because it should arm the chip by itself, if it needs that type of
functionality.

The virtio rng device kicks off a new entropy request whenever the
data available reaches zero. When a new request occurs at the end
of a read operation, that is, when the result of that request is
only needed by the next reader, then there is a race between the
writing of the new data and the next reader.
This is because there is no synchronisation whatsoever between the
writer and the reader.
Fix this by writing data_avail with smp_store_release and reading
it with smp_load_acquire when we first enter read. The subsequent
reads are safe because they're either protected by the first load
acquire, or by the completion mechanism.
Also remove the redundant zeroing of data_idx in random_recv_done
(data_idx must already be zero at this point) and data_avail in
request_entropy (ditto).
