2b88119e35 vfio/mtty: Enable migration support
The mtty driver exposes a PCI serial device to userspace and therefore
makes an easy target for a sample device supporting migration.  The device
does not make use of DMA, therefore we can easily claim support for the
migration P2P states, as well as dirty logging.  This implementation also
makes use of PRE_COPY support in order to provide migration stream
compatibility testing, which should generally be considered good practice.

293fbc2881 vfio/mtty: Overhaul mtty interrupt handling
The mtty driver does not currently conform to the vfio SET_IRQS uAPI.
For example, it claims to support mask and unmask of INTx, but actually
does nothing.  It claims to support AUTOMASK for INTx, but doesn't.  It
fails to teardown eventfds under the full semantics specified by the
SET_IRQS ioctl.  It also fails to teardown eventfds when the device is
closed, leading to memory leaks.  It claims to support the request IRQ,
but doesn't.

Fix all these.

A side effect of this is that QEMU will now report a warning:

vfio <uuid>: Failed to set up UNMASK eventfd signaling for interrupt \
INTX-0: VFIO_DEVICE_SET_IRQS failure: Inappropriate ioctl for device

The fact is that the unmask eventfd was never supported but quietly
failed.  mtty never honored the AUTOMASK behavior, therefore there
was nothing to unmask.  QEMU is verbose about the failure, but
properly falls back to userspace unmasking.

a7bea9f4fe vfio: use __aligned_u64 in struct vfio_device_gfx_plane_info
The memory layout of struct vfio_device_gfx_plane_info is
architecture-dependent due to a u64 field and a struct size that is not
a multiple of 8 bytes:
- On x86_64 the struct size is padded to a multiple of 8 bytes.
- On x32 the struct size is only a multiple of 4 bytes, not 8.
- Other architectures may vary.

Use __aligned_u64 to make memory layout consistent. This reduces the
chance of 32-bit userspace on a 64-bit kernel breakage.

This patch increases the struct size on x32 but this is safe because of
the struct's argsz field. The kernel may grow the struct as long as it
still supports smaller argsz values from userspace (e.g. applications
compiled against older kernel headers).

e4ef4e5d1e vfio-dev/mdpy-fb: Use fbdev I/O helpers
Set struct fb_ops and with FB_DEFAULT_IOMEM_OPS, fbdev's initializer
for I/O memory. Sets the callbacks to the cfb_ and fb_io_ functions.
Select the correct modules with Kconfig's FB_IOMEM_HELPERS token.

The macro and token set the currently selected values, so there is
no functional change.

050bb58707 vfio-mdev: Remove flag FBINFO_DEFAULT from fbdev sample driver
The flag FBINFO_DEFAULT is 0 and has no effect, as struct fbinfo.flags
has been allocated to zero by framebuffer_alloc(). So do not set it.

Flags should signal differences from the default values. After cleaning
up all occurrences of FBINFO_DEFAULT, the token will be removed.

Here is the large set of driver core changes for 6.4-rc1.
 
 Once again, a busy development cycle, with lots of changes happening in
 the driver core in the quest to be able to move "struct bus" and "struct
 class" into read-only memory, a task now complete with these changes.
 
 This will make the future rust interactions with the driver core more
 "provably correct" as well as providing more obvious lifetime rules for
 all busses and classes in the kernel.
 
 The changes required for this did touch many individual classes and
 busses as many callbacks were changed to take const * parameters
 instead.  All of these changes have been submitted to the various
 subsystem maintainers, giving them plenty of time to review, and most of
 them actually did so.
 
 Other than those changes, included in here are a small set of other
 things:
   - kobject logging improvements
   - cacheinfo improvements and updates
   - obligatory fw_devlink updates and fixes
   - documentation updates
   - device property cleanups and const * changes
   - firwmare loader dependency fixes.
 
 All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported

0a782d15e1 vfio/mdev: Uses the vfio emulated iommufd ops set in the mdev sample drivers
This harmonizes the no-DMA devices (the vfio-mdev sample drivers) with
the emulated devices (gvt-g, vfio-ap etc.). It makes it easier to add
BIND_IOMMUFD user interface which requires to return an iommufd ID to
represent the device/iommufd bond.

1aaba11da9 driver core: class: remove module * from class_create()
The module pointer in class_create() never actually did anything, and it
shouldn't have been requred to be set as a parameter even if it did
something.  So just remove it and fix up all callers of the function in
the kernel tree at the same time.

9c799c224d vfio/mdev: add mdev available instance checking to the core
Many of the mdev drivers use a simple counter for keeping track of the
available instances. Move this code to the core code and store the counter
in the mdev_parent. Implement it using correct locking, fixing mdpy.

Drivers just provide the value in the mdev_driver at registration time
and the core code takes care of maintaining it and exposing the value in
sysfs.

[hch: count instances per-parent instead of per-type, use an atomic_t
 to avoid taking mdev_list_lock in the show method]

da44c340c4 vfio/mdev: simplify mdev_type handling
Instead of abusing struct attribute_group to control initialization of
struct mdev_type, just define the actual attributes in the mdev_driver,
allocate the mdev_type structures in the caller and pass them to
mdev_register_parent.

This allows the caller to use container_of to get at the containing
structure and thus significantly simplify the code.

e6486939d8 vfio/mdev: Remove mdev_parent_ops dev_attr_groups
This is only used by one sample to print a fixed string that is pointless.

In general, having a device driver attach sysfs attributes to the parent
is horrific. This should never happen, and always leads to some kind of
liftime bug as it become very difficult for the sysfs attribute to go back
to any data owned by the device driver.

Remove the general mechanism to create this abuse.

16b0314aa7 dma-buf: move dma-buf symbols into the DMA_BUF module namespace
In order to better track where in the kernel the dma-buf code is used,
put the symbols in the namespace DMA_BUF and modify all users of the
symbols to properly import the namespace to not break the build at the
same time.

Now the output of modinfo shows the use of these symbols, making it
easier to watch for users over time:

3cb2482714 vfio/mbochs: Fix close when multiple device FDs are open
mbochs_close() iterates over global device state and frees it. Currently
this is done every time a device FD is closed, but if multiple device FDs
are open this could corrupt other still active FDs.

17a1e4fa3f vfio/samples: Delete useless open/close
The core code no longer requires these ops to be defined, so delete these
empty functions and leave the op as NULL. mtty's functions only log a
pointless message, delete that entirely.

ae03c3771b vfio: Introduce a vfio_uninit_group_dev() API call
This pairs with vfio_init_group_dev() and allows undoing any state that is
stored in the vfio_device unrelated to registration. Add appropriately
placed calls to all the drivers.

The following patch will use this to add pre-registration state for the
device set.

de5494af48 vfio/mbochs: Fix missing error unwind of mbochs_used_mbytes
Convert mbochs to use an atomic scheme for this like mtty was changed
into. The atomic fixes various race conditions with probing. Add the
missing error unwind. Also add the missing kfree of mdev_state->pages.

0dd1b7fc3e vfio/mtty: Delete mdev_devices_list
Dan points out that an error case left things on this list. It is also
missing locking in available_instances_show().

Further study shows the list isn't needed at all, just store the total
ports in use in an atomic and delete the whole thing.

In the case where the call to vfio_register_group_dev fails the error
return path kfree's mdev_state but not mdev_state->vconfig. Fix this
by kfree'ing mdev_state->vconfig before returning.

698f99ed5e vfio/mdev: remove unnecessary NULL check in mbochs_create()
Originally "type" could be NULL and these checks were required, but we
recently changed how "type" is assigned and that's no longer the case.
Now "type" points to an element in the middle of a non-NULL array.

Removing the checks does not affect runtime at all, but it makes the
code a little bit simpler to read.

9169cff168 vfio/mdev: Correct the function signatures for the mdev_type_attributes
The driver core standard is to pass in the properly typed object, the
properly typed attribute and the buffer data. It stems from the root
kobject method:

  ssize_t (*show)(struct kobject *kobj, struct kobj_attribute *attr,..)

Each subclass of kobject should provide their own function with the same
signature but more specific types, eg struct device uses:

  ssize_t (*show)(struct device *dev, struct device_attribute *attr,..)

In this case the existing signature is:

  ssize_t (*show)(struct kobject *kobj, struct device *dev,..)

Where kobj is a 'struct mdev_type *' and dev is 'mdev_type->parent->dev'.

Change the mdev_type related sysfs attribute functions to:

  ssize_t (*show)(struct mdev_type *mtype, struct mdev_type_attribute *attr,..)

In order to restore type safety and match the driver core standard

There are no current users of 'attr', but if it is ever needed it would be
hard to add in retroactively, so do it now.

c2ef2f50ad vfio/mdev: Remove kobj from mdev_parent_ops->create()
The kobj here is a type-erased version of mdev_type, which is already
stored in the struct mdev_device being passed in. It was only ever used to
compute the type_group_id, which is now extracted directly from the mdev.

The mbochs_types array is parallel to the supported_type_groups array, so
the type_group_id indexes both. Instead of doing string searching just
directly index with type_group_id in all places.
