ocfs2: enable ocfs2_listxattr for special files
For special files in S_IFBLK/S_IFCHR/S_IFIFO type, we already have ocfs2_setattr and ocfs2_getattr enabled. It's confusing for user space if it can use setattr/getattr to control one attribute appointed but can not list attributes using listxattr for above type files: $ mknod /mnt/b b 0 0 $ setfattr -h -n trusted.name -v 0xbabe /mnt/b $ getfattr -n trusted.name /mnt/b getfattr: Removing leading '/' from absolute path names trusted.name=0sur4= $ getfattr -m trusted /mnt/b $ Fix it by enabling ocfs2_listxattr for ocfs2_special_file_iops. After the commit, fstests/generic/062 will pass. mm, slab: remove last vestiges of SLAB_MEM_SPREAD
Yes, yes, I know the slab people were planning on going slow and letting every subsystem fight this thing on their own. But let's just rip off the band-aid and get it over and done with. I don't want to see a number of unnecessary pull requests just to get rid of a flag that no longer has any meaning. This was mainly done with a couple of 'sed' scripts and then some manual cleanup of the end result. This allowed us to implement support for restricting and forbidding writes to mounted block devices. It was accompanied by converting and adding helpers to operate on bdev_handles instead of plain block devices. That was already a good step forward but ultimately it isn't necessary to have special purpose helpers for opening block devices internally that return a bdev_handle. Fundamentally, opening a block device internally should just be equivalent to opening files. So now all internal opens of block devices return files just as a userspace open would. Instead of introducing a separate indirection into bdev_open_by_*() via struct bdev_handle bdev_file_open_by_*() is made to just return a struct file. Opening and closing a block device just becomes equivalent to opening and closing a file. This all works well because internally we already have a pseudo fs for block devices and so opening block devices is simple. There's a few places where we needed to be careful such as during boot when the kernel is supposed to mount the rootfs directly without init doing it. Here we need to take care to ensure that we flush out any asynchronous file close. That's what we already do for opening, unpacking, and closing the initramfs. So nothing new here. The equivalence of opening and closing block devices to regular files is a win in and of itself. But it also has various other advantages. We can remove struct bdev_handle completely. Various low-level helpers are now private to the block layer. Other helpers were simply removable completely. A follow-up series that is already reviewed build on this and makes it possible to remove bdev->bd_inode and allows various clean ups of the buffer head code as well. All places where we stashed a bdev_handle now just stash a file and use simple accessors to get to the actual block device which was already the case for bdev_handle" * tag 'vfs-6.9.super' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/vfs/vfs: (35 commits) block: remove bdev_handle completely block: don't rely on BLK_OPEN_RESTRICT_WRITES when yielding write access bdev: remove bdev pointer from struct bdev_handle bdev: make struct bdev_handle private to the block layer bdev: make bdev_{release, open_by_dev}() private to block layer bdev: remove bdev_open_by_path() reiserfs: port block device access to file ocfs2: port block device access to file nfs: port block device access to files jfs: port block device access to file f2fs: port block device access to files ext4: port block device access to file erofs: port device access to file btrfs: port device access to file bcachefs: port block device access to file target: port block device access to file s390: port block device access to file nvme: port block device access to file block2mtd: port device access to files bcache: port block device access to files ... |

fs: super_set_uuid()
Some weird old filesytems have UUID-like things that we wish to expose as UUIDs, but are smaller; add a length field so that the new FS_IOC_(GET|SET)UUID ioctls can handle them in generic code. And add a helper super_set_uuid(), for setting nonstandard length uuids. Helper is now required for the new FS_IOC_GETUUID ioctl; if super_set_uuid() hasn't been called, the ioctl won't be supported. filelock: split common fields into struct file_lock_core
In a future patch, we're going to split file leases into their own structure. Since a lot of the underlying machinery uses the same fields move those into a new file_lock_core, and embed that inside struct file_lock. For now, add some macros to ensure that we can continue to build while the conversion is in progress. quota: Set nofs allocation context when acquiring dqio_sem
dqio_sem can be acquired during inode reclaim through dquot_drop() -> dqput() -> dquot_release() -> write_file_info() context. In some cases (most notably through dquot_get_next_id()) it can be acquired without holding dquot->dq_lock (which already sets nofs allocation context). sysctl-6.8-rc1
To help make the move of sysctls out of kernel/sysctl.c not incur a size penalty sysctl has been changed to allow us to not require the sentinel, the final empty element on the sysctl array. Joel Granados has been doing all this work. On the v6.6 kernel we got the major infrastructure changes required to support this. For v6.7 we had all arch/ and drivers/ modified to remove the sentinel. For v6.8-rc1 we get a few more updates for fs/ directory only. The kernel/ directory is left but we'll save that for v6.9-rc1 as those patches are still being reviewed. After that we then can expect also the removal of the no longer needed check for procname == NULL. Let us recap the purpose of this work: - this helps reduce the overall build time size of the kernel and run time memory consumed by the kernel by about ~64 bytes per array - the extra 64-byte penalty is no longer inncurred now when we move sysctls out from kernel/sysctl.c to their own files Thomas Weißschuh also sent a few cleanups, for v6.9-rc1 we expect to see further work by Thomas Weißschuh with the constificatin of the struct ctl_table. Due to Joel Granados's work, and to help bring in new blood, I have suggested for him to become a maintainer and he's accepted. So for v6.9-rc1 I look forward to seeing him sent you a pull request for further sysctl changes. fs: Remove the now superfluous sentinel elements from ctl_table array
This commit comes at the tail end of a greater effort to remove the empty elements at the end of the ctl_table arrays (sentinels) which will reduce the overall build time size of the kernel and run time memory bloat by ~64 bytes per sentinel (further information Link : https://lore.kernel.org/all/ZO5Yx5JFogGi%2FcBo@bombadil.infradead.org/) Remove sentinel elements ctl_table struct. Special attention was placed in making sure that an empty directory for fs/verity was created when CONFIG_FS_VERITY_BUILTIN_SIGNATURES is not defined. In this case we use the register sysctl call that expects a size. Signed-off-by: Joel Granados <j.granados@samsung.com> Reviewed-by: Jan Kara <jack@suse.cz> Reviewed-by: "Darrick J. ocfs2: replace BUG_ON() at ocfs2_num_free_extents() with ocfs2_error()
The BUG_ON() at ocfs2_num_free_extents() handles the error that l_tree_deepth of leaf extent block just read form disk is invalid. This error is mostly caused by file system metadata corruption on the disk. There is no need to call BUG_ON() to handle such errors. We can return error code, since the caller can deal with errors from ocfs2_num_free_extents(). Also, we should make the file system read-only to avoid the damage from expanding. Therefore, BUG_ON() is removed and ocfs2_error() is called instead. However, no code in vfs actually modifies the tables. This changes the type of 's_xattr' to allow const tables, and modifies existing file systems to move their tables to .rodata. This is desirable because these tables contain entries with function pointers in them; moving them to .rodata makes it considerably less likely to be modified accidentally or maliciously at runtime" * tag 'vfs-6.7.xattr' of gitolite.kernel.org:pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/vfs/vfs: (30 commits) const_structs.checkpatch: add xattr_handler net: move sockfs_xattr_handlers to .rodata shmem: move shmem_xattr_handlers to .rodata overlayfs: move xattr tables to .rodata xfs: move xfs_xattr_handlers to .rodata ubifs: move ubifs_xattr_handlers to .rodata squashfs: move squashfs_xattr_handlers to .rodata smb: move cifs_xattr_handlers to .rodata reiserfs: move reiserfs_xattr_handlers to .rodata orangefs: move orangefs_xattr_handlers to .rodata ocfs2: move ocfs2_xattr_handlers and ocfs2_xattr_handler_map to .rodata ntfs3: move ntfs_xattr_handlers to .rodata nfs: move nfs4_xattr_handlers to .rodata kernfs: move kernfs_xattr_handlers to .rodata jfs: move jfs_xattr_handlers to .rodata jffs2: move jffs2_xattr_handlers to .rodata hfsplus: move hfsplus_xattr_handlers to .rodata hfs: move hfs_xattr_handlers to .rodata gfs2: move gfs2_xattr_handlers_max to .rodata fuse: move fuse_xattr_handlers to .rodata ... |

The first part changes the order of how we open block devices and allocate superblocks, contains various cleanups, simplifications, and a new mechanism to wait on superblock state changes. This unblocks work to ultimately limit the number of writers to a block device. Jan has already scheduled follow-up work that will be ready for v6.7 and allows us to restrict the number of writers to a given block device. That series builds on this work right here. The second part contains filesystem freezing updates. Overview: The generic superblock changes are rougly organized as follows (ignoring additional minor cleanups): (1) Removal of the bd_super member from struct block_device. This was a very odd back pointer to struct super_block with unclear rules. For all relevant places we have other means to get the same information so just get rid of this. (2) Simplify rules for superblock cleanup. Roughly, everything that is allocated during fs_context initialization and that's stored in fs_context->s_fs_info needs to be cleaned up by the fs_context->free() implementation before the superblock allocation function has been called successfully. After sget_fc() returned fs_context->s_fs_info has been transferred to sb->s_fs_info at which point sb->kill_sb() if fully responsible for cleanup. Adhering to these rules means that cleanup of sb->s_fs_info in fill_super() is to be avoided as it's brittle and inconsistent. Cleanup shouldn't be duplicated between sb->put_super() as sb->put_super() is only called if sb->s_root has been set aka when the filesystem has been successfully born (SB_BORN). That complexity should be avoided. This also means that block devices are to be closed in sb->kill_sb() instead of sb->put_super(). More details in the lower section. (3) Make it possible to lookup or create a superblock before opening block devices There's a subtle dependency on (2) as some filesystems did rely on fill_super() to be called in order to correctly clean up sb->s_fs_info. All these filesystems have been fixed. (4) Switch most filesystem to follow the same logic as the generic mount code now does as outlined in (3). (5) Use the superblock as the holder of the block device. We can now easily go back from block device to owning superblock. (6) Export and extend the generic fs_holder_ops and use them as holder ops everywhere and remove the filesystem specific holder ops. (7) Call from the block layer up into the filesystem layer when the block device is removed, allowing to shut down the filesystem without risk of deadlocks. (8) Get rid of get_super(). We can now easily go back from the block device to owning superblock and can call up from the block layer into the filesystem layer when the device is removed. So no need to wade through all registered superblock to find the owning superblock anymore" Link: https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/20230824-prall-intakt-95dbffdee4a0@brauner/ * tag 'v6.6-vfs.super' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/vfs/vfs: (47 commits) super: use higher-level helper for {freeze, thaw} super: wait until we passed kill super super: wait for nascent superblocks super: make locking naming consistent super: use locking helpers fs: simplify invalidate_inodes fs: remove get_super block: call into the file system for ioctl BLKFLSBUF block: call into the file system for bdev_mark_dead block: consolidate __invalidate_device and fsync_bdev block: drop the "busy inodes on changed media" log message dasd: also call __invalidate_device when setting the device offline amiflop: don't call fsync_bdev in FDFMTBEG floppy: call disk_force_media_change when changing the format block: simplify the disk_force_media_change interface nbd: call blk_mark_disk_dead in nbd_clear_sock_ioctl xfs use fs_holder_ops for the log and RT devices xfs: drop s_umount over opening the log and RT devices ext4: use fs_holder_ops for the log device ext4: drop s_umount over opening the log device ... |

This carries acks from all relevant filesystems. The VFS always uses coarse-grained timestamps when updating the ctime and mtime after a change. This has the benefit of allowing filesystems to optimize away a lot of metadata updates, down to around 1 per jiffy, even when a file is under heavy writes. Unfortunately, this has always been an issue when we're exporting via NFSv3, which relies on timestamps to validate caches. A lot of changes can happen in a jiffy, so timestamps aren't sufficient to help the client decide to invalidate the cache. Even with NFSv4, a lot of exported filesystems don't properly support a change attribute and are subject to the same problems with timestamp granularity. Other applications have similar issues with timestamps (e.g., backup applications). If we were to always use fine-grained timestamps, that would improve the situation, but that becomes rather expensive, as the underlying filesystem would have to log a lot more metadata updates. This introduces fine-grained timestamps that are used when they are actively queried. This uses the 31st bit of the ctime tv_nsec field to indicate that something has queried the inode for the mtime or ctime. When this flag is set, on the next mtime or ctime update, the kernel will fetch a fine-grained timestamp instead of the usual coarse-grained one. As POSIX generally mandates that when the mtime changes, the ctime must also change the kernel always stores normalized ctime values, so only the first 30 bits of the tv_nsec field are ever used. Filesytems can opt into this behavior by setting the FS_MGTIME flag in the fstype. Filesystems that don't set this flag will continue to use coarse-grained timestamps. Various preparatory changes, fixes and cleanups are included: - Fixup all relevant places where POSIX requires updating ctime together with mtime. This is a wide-range of places and all maintainers provided necessary Acks. - Add new accessors for inode->i_ctime directly and change all callers to rely on them. Plain accesses to inode->i_ctime are now gone and it is accordingly rename to inode->__i_ctime and commented as requiring accessors. - Extend generic_fillattr() to pass in a request mask mirroring in a sense the statx() uapi. This allows callers to pass in a request mask to only get a subset of attributes filled in. - Rework timestamp updates so it's possible to drop the @now parameter the update_time() inode operation and associated helpers. - Add inode_update_timestamps() and convert all filesystems to it removing a bunch of open-coding" * tag 'v6.6-vfs.ctime' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/vfs/vfs: (107 commits) btrfs: convert to multigrain timestamps ext4: switch to multigrain timestamps xfs: switch to multigrain timestamps tmpfs: add support for multigrain timestamps fs: add infrastructure for multigrain timestamps fs: drop the timespec64 argument from update_time xfs: have xfs_vn_update_time gets its own timestamp fat: make fat_update_time get its own timestamp fat: remove i_version handling from fat_update_time ubifs: have ubifs_update_time use inode_update_timestamps btrfs: have it use inode_update_timestamps fs: drop the timespec64 arg from generic_update_time fs: pass the request_mask to generic_fillattr fs: remove silly warning from current_time gfs2: fix timestamp handling on quota inodes fs: rename i_ctime field to __i_ctime selinux: convert to ctime accessor functions security: convert to ctime accessor functions apparmor: convert to ctime accessor functions sunrpc: convert to ctime accessor functions ... |

fs: pass the request_mask to generic_fillattr
generic_fillattr just fills in the entire stat struct indiscriminately today, copying data from the inode. There is at least one attribute (STATX_CHANGE_COOKIE) that can have side effects when it is reported, and we're looking at adding more with the addition of multigrain timestamps. Add a request_mask argument to generic_fillattr and have most callers just pass in the value that is passed to getattr. Have other callers (e.g. ksmbd) just pass in STATX_BASIC_STATS. Also move the setting of STATX_CHANGE_COOKIE into generic_fillattr. ocfs2: stop using bdev->bd_super for journal error logging
All ocfs2 journal error handling and logging is based on buffer_heads, and the owning inode and thus super_block can be retrieved through bh->b_assoc_map->host. Switch to using that to remove the last users of bdev->bd_super. vfs: get rid of old '->iterate' directory operation
All users now just use '->iterate_shared()', which only takes the directory inode lock for reading. Filesystems that never got convered to shared mode now instead use a wrapper that drops the lock, re-takes it in write mode, calls the old function, and then downgrades the lock back to read mode. This way the VFS layer and other callers no longer need to care about filesystems that never got converted to the modern era. The filesystems that use the new wrapper are ceph, coda, exfat, jfs, ntfs, ocfs2, overlayfs, and vboxsf. Honestly, several of them look like they really could just iterate their directories in shared mode and skip the wrapper entirely, but the point of this change is to not change semantics or fix filesystems that haven't been fixed in the last 7+ years, but to finally get rid of the dual iterators. fs: add CONFIG_BUFFER_HEAD
Add a new config option that controls building the buffer_head code, and select it from all file systems and stacking drivers that need it. For the block device nodes and alternative iomap based buffered I/O path is provided when buffer_head support is not enabled, and iomap needs a a small tweak to define the IOMAP_F_BUFFER_HEAD flag to 0 to not call into the buffer_head code when it doesn't exist. Otherwise this is just Kconfig and ifdef changes. fs: dlm: fix F_CANCELLK to cancel pending request
This patch fixes the current handling of F_CANCELLK by not just doing a
unlock as we need to try to cancel a lock at first. A unlock makes sense
on a non-blocking lock request but if it's a blocking lock request we
need to cancel the request until it's not granted yet. This patch is fixing
this behaviour by first try to cancel a lock request and if it's failed
it's unlocking the lock which seems to be granted.
Note: currently the nfs locking handling was disabled by commit

Networking changes for 6.5.
Core ---- - Rework the sendpage & splice implementations. Instead of feeding data into sockets page by page extend sendmsg handlers to support taking a reference on the data, controlled by a new flag called MSG_SPLICE_PAGES. Rework the handling of unexpected-end-of-file to invoke an additional callback instead of trying to predict what the right combination of MORE/NOTLAST flags is. Remove the MSG_SENDPAGE_NOTLAST flag completely. - Implement SCM_PIDFD, a new type of CMSG type analogous to SCM_CREDENTIALS, but it contains pidfd instead of plain pid. - Enable socket busy polling with CONFIG_RT. - Improve reliability and efficiency of reporting for ref_tracker. - Auto-generate a user space C library for various Netlink families. Protocols --------- - Allow TCP to shrink the advertised window when necessary, prevent sk_rcvbuf auto-tuning from growing the window all the way up to tcp_rmem[2]. - Use per-VMA locking for "page-flipping" TCP receive zerocopy. - Prepare TCP for device-to-device data transfers, by making sure that payloads are always attached to skbs as page frags. - Make the backoff time for the first N TCP SYN retransmissions linear. Exponential backoff is unnecessarily conservative. - Create a new MPTCP getsockopt to retrieve all info (MPTCP_FULL_INFO). - Avoid waking up applications using TLS sockets until we have a full record. - Allow using kernel memory for protocol ioctl callbacks, paving the way to issuing ioctls over io_uring. - Add nolocalbypass option to VxLAN, forcing packets to be fully encapsulated even if they are destined for a local IP address. - Make TCPv4 use consistent hash in TIME_WAIT and SYN_RECV. Ensure in-kernel ECMP implementation (e.g. Open vSwitch) select the same link for all packets. Support L4 symmetric hashing in Open vSwitch. - PPPoE: make number of hash bits configurable. - Allow DNS to be overwritten by DHCPACK in the in-kernel DHCP client (ipconfig). - Add layer 2 miss indication and filtering, allowing higher layers (e.g. ACL filters) to make forwarding decisions based on whether packet matched forwarding state in lower devices (bridge). - Support matching on Connectivity Fault Management (CFM) packets. - Hide the "link becomes ready" IPv6 messages by demoting their printk level to debug. - HSR: don't enable promiscuous mode if device offloads the proto. - Support active scanning in IEEE 802.15.4. - Continue work on Multi-Link Operation for WiFi 7. BPF --- - Add precision propagation for subprogs and callbacks. This allows maintaining verification efficiency when subprograms are used, or in fact passing the verifier at all for complex programs, especially those using open-coded iterators. - Improve BPF's {g,s}setsockopt() length handling. Previously BPF assumed the length is always equal to the amount of written data. But some protos allow passing a NULL buffer to discover what the output buffer *should* be, without writing anything. - Accept dynptr memory as memory arguments passed to helpers. - Add routing table ID to bpf_fib_lookup BPF helper. - Support O_PATH FDs in BPF_OBJ_PIN and BPF_OBJ_GET commands. - Drop bpf_capable() check in BPF_MAP_FREEZE command (used to mark maps as read-only). - Show target_{obj,btf}_id in tracing link fdinfo. - Addition of several new kfuncs (most of the names are self-explanatory): - Add a set of new dynptr kfuncs: bpf_dynptr_adjust(), bpf_dynptr_is_null(), bpf_dynptr_is_rdonly(), bpf_dynptr_size() and bpf_dynptr_clone(). - bpf_task_under_cgroup() - bpf_sock_destroy() - force closing sockets - bpf_cpumask_first_and(), rework bpf_cpumask_any*() kfuncs Netfilter --------- - Relax set/map validation checks in nf_tables. Allow checking presence of an entry in a map without using the value. - Increase ip_vs_conn_tab_bits range for 64BIT builds. - Allow updating size of a set. - Improve NAT tuple selection when connection is closing. Driver API ---------- - Integrate netdev with LED subsystem, to allow configuring HW "offloaded" blinking of LEDs based on link state and activity (i.e. packets coming in and out). - Support configuring rate selection pins of SFP modules. - Factor Clause 73 auto-negotiation code out of the drivers, provide common helper routines. - Add more fool-proof helpers for managing lifetime of MDIO devices associated with the PCS layer. - Allow drivers to report advanced statistics related to Time Aware scheduler offload (taprio). - Allow opting out of VF statistics in link dump, to allow more VFs to fit into the message. - Split devlink instance and devlink port operations. This causes memory corruption. Instead, we either use (a) filemap_splice_read(), which invokes the buffered file reading code and splices from the pagecache into the pipe; (b) copy_splice_read(), which bulk-allocates a buffer, reads into it and then pushes the filled pages into the pipe; or (c) handle it in filesystem-specific code. Summary: - Rename direct_splice_read() to copy_splice_read() - Simplify the calculations for the number of pages to be reclaimed in copy_splice_read() - Turn do_splice_to() into a helper, vfs_splice_read(), so that it can be used by overlayfs and coda to perform the checks on the lower fs - Make vfs_splice_read() jump to copy_splice_read() to handle direct-I/O and DAX - Provide shmem with its own splice_read to handle non-existent pages in the pagecache. ocfs2: Fix use of slab data with sendpage
ocfs2 uses kzalloc() to allocate buffers for o2net_hand, o2net_keep_req and
o2net_keep_resp and then passes these to sendpage. This isn't really
allowed as the lifetime of slab objects is not controlled by page ref -
though in this case it will probably work. sendmsg() with MSG_SPLICE_PAGES
will, however, print a warning and give an error.
Fix it to use folio_alloc() instead to allocate a buffer for the handshake
message, keepalive request and reply messages.

(2) POSIX ACLs are only available if IOP_XATTR is raised. The IOP_XATTR flag is raised in inode_init_always() based on whether the sb->s_xattr pointer is non-NULL. IOW, the registered xattr handlers of the filesystem are used to raise IOP_XATTR. Removing the generic POSIX ACL xattr handlers from all filesystems would risk regressing filesystems that only implement POSIX ACL support and no other xattrs (nfs3 comes to mind). This contains the work to decouple POSIX ACLs from the IOP_XATTR flag as they don't depend on xattr handlers anymore. So it's now possible to remove the generic POSIX ACL xattr handlers from the sb->s_xattr list of all filesystems. This is a crucial step as the generic POSIX ACL xattr handlers aren't used for POSIX ACLs anymore and POSIX ACLs don't depend on the xattr infrastructure anymore. Adressing problem (1) will require more long-term work. It would be best to get rid of the ->list() method of xattr handlers completely at some point. For erofs, ext{2,4}, f2fs, jffs2, ocfs2, and reiserfs the nop POSIX ACL xattr handler is kept around so they can continue to use array-based xattr handler indexing. In keeping with current kernel conventions, this moves all of these comment blocks to the top of the function definitions, transforming them into the kdoc format in the process. This should make it much easier to maintain these comments, which are the main source of LSM hook documentation. For the most part the comment contents were left as-is, although some glaring errors were corrected. Expect additional edits in the future as we slowly update and correct the comment blocks. This is the bulk of the diffstat. - Introduce LSM_ORDER_LAST Similar to how LSM_ORDER_FIRST is used to specify LSMs which should be ordered before "normal" LSMs, the LSM_ORDER_LAST is used to specify LSMs which should be ordered after "normal" LSMs. This is one of the prerequisites for transitioning IMA/EVM to a proper LSM. - Remove the security_old_inode_init_security() hook The security_old_inode_init_security() LSM hook only allows for a single xattr which is problematic both for LSM stacking and the IMA/EVM-as-a-LSM effort. This finishes the conversion over to the security_inode_init_security() hook and removes the single-xattr LSM hook. - Fix a reiserfs problem with security xattrs During the security_old_inode_init_security() removal work it became clear that reiserfs wasn't handling security xattrs properly so we fixed it. * tag 'lsm-pr-20230420' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/pcmoore/lsm: (32 commits) reiserfs: Add security prefix to xattr name in reiserfs_security_write() security: Remove security_old_inode_init_security() ocfs2: Switch to security_inode_init_security() reiserfs: Switch to security_inode_init_security() security: Remove integrity from the LSM list in Kconfig Revert "integrity: double check iint_cache was initialized" security: Introduce LSM_ORDER_LAST and set it for the integrity LSM device_cgroup: Fix typo in devcgroup_css_alloc description lsm: fix a badly named parameter in security_get_getsecurity() lsm: fix doc warnings in the LSM hook comments lsm: styling fixes to security/security.c lsm: move the remaining LSM hook comments to security/security.c lsm: move the io_uring hook comments to security/security.c lsm: move the perf hook comments to security/security.c lsm: move the bpf hook comments to security/security.c lsm: move the audit hook comments to security/security.c lsm: move the binder hook comments to security/security.c lsm: move the sysv hook comments to security/security.c lsm: move the key hook comments to security/security.c lsm: move the xfrm hook comments to security/security.c ... |

ocfs2: Switch to security_inode_init_security()
In preparation for removing security_old_inode_init_security(), switch to security_inode_init_security(). Extend the existing ocfs2_initxattrs() to take the ocfs2_security_xattr_info structure from fs_info, and populate the name/value/len triple with the first xattr provided by LSMs. As fs_info was not used before, ocfs2_initxattrs() can now handle the case of replicating the behavior of security_old_inode_init_security(), i.e. just obtaining the xattr, in addition to setting all xattrs provided by LSMs. Supporting multiple xattrs is not currently supported where security_old_inode_init_security() was called (mknod, symlink), as it requires non-trivial changes that can be done at a later time. Like for reiserfs, even if EVM is invoked, it will not provide an xattr (if it is not the first to set it, its xattr will be discarded; if it is the first, it does not have xattrs to calculate the HMAC on). Finally, since security_inode_init_security(), unlike security_old_inode_init_security(), returns zero instead of -EOPNOTSUPP if no xattrs were provided by LSMs or if inodes are private, additionally check in ocfs2_init_security_get() if the xattr name is set. If not, act as if security_old_inode_init_security() returned -EOPNOTSUPP, and set si->enable to zero to notify to the functions following ocfs2_init_security_get() that no xattrs are available. ocfs2: fix data corruption after failed write
When buffered write fails to copy data into underlying page cache page,
ocfs2_write_end_nolock() just zeroes out and dirties the page. This can
leave dirty page beyond EOF and if page writeback tries to write this page
before write succeeds and expands i_size, page gets into inconsistent
state where page dirty bit is clear but buffer dirty bits stay set
resulting in page data never getting written and so data copied to the
page is lost. Fix the problem by invalidating page beyond EOF after
failed write.

ocfs2: fix non-auto defrag path not working issue
This fixes three issues on move extents ioctl without auto defrag: a) In ocfs2_find_victim_alloc_group(), we have to convert bits to block first in case of global bitmap. b) In ocfs2_probe_alloc_group(), when finding enough bits in block group bitmap, we have to back off move_len to start pos as well, otherwise it may corrupt filesystem. c) In ocfs2_ioctl_move_extents(), set me_threshold both for non-auto and auto defrag paths. Otherwise it will set move_max_hop to 0 and finally cause unexpectedly ENOSPC error. Currently there are no tools triggering the above issues since defragfs.ocfs2 enables auto defrag by default. Tested with manually changing defragfs.ocfs2 to run non auto defrag path. Networking changes for 6.3.
Core ---- - Add dedicated kmem_cache for typical/small skb->head, avoid having to access struct page at kfree time, and improve memory use. - Introduce sysctl to set default RPS configuration for new netdevs. - Define Netlink protocol specification format which can be used to describe messages used by each family and auto-generate parsers. Add tools for generating kernel data structures and uAPI headers. - Expose all net/core sysctls inside netns. - Remove 4s sleep in netpoll if carrier is instantly detected on boot. - Add configurable limit of MDB entries per port, and port-vlan. - Continue populating drop reasons throughout the stack. - Retire a handful of legacy Qdiscs and classifiers. Protocols --------- - Support IPv4 big TCP (TSO frames larger than 64kB). - Add IP_LOCAL_PORT_RANGE socket option, to control local port range on socket by socket basis. - Track and report in procfs number of MPTCP sockets used. - Support mixing IPv4 and IPv6 flows in the in-kernel MPTCP path manager. - IPv6: don't check net.ipv6.route.max_size and rely on garbage collection to free memory (similarly to IPv4). - Support Penultimate Segment Pop (PSP) flavor in SRv6 (RFC8986). - ICMP: add per-rate limit counters. - Add support for user scanning requests in ieee802154. - Remove static WEP support. - Support minimal Wi-Fi 7 Extremely High Throughput (EHT) rate reporting. - WiFi 7 EHT channel puncturing support (client & AP). BPF --- - Add a rbtree data structure following the "next-gen data structure" precedent set by recently added linked list, that is, by using kfunc + kptr instead of adding a new BPF map type. - Expose XDP hints via kfuncs with initial support for RX hash and timestamp metadata. - Add BPF_F_NO_TUNNEL_KEY extension to bpf_skb_set_tunnel_key to better support decap on GRE tunnel devices not operating in collect metadata. - Improve x86 JIT's codegen for PROBE_MEM runtime error checks. - Remove the need for trace_printk_lock for bpf_trace_printk and bpf_trace_vprintk helpers. - Extend libbpf's bpf_tracing.h support for tracing arguments of kprobes/uprobes and syscall as a special case. - Significantly reduce the search time for module symbols by livepatch and BPF. - Enable cpumasks to be used as kptrs, which is useful for tracing programs tracking which tasks end up running on which CPUs in different time intervals. - Add support for BPF trampoline on s390x and riscv64. - Add capability to export the XDP features supported by the NIC. - Add __bpf_kfunc tag for marking kernel functions as kfuncs. - Add cgroup.memory=nobpf kernel parameter option to disable BPF memory accounting for container environments. Netfilter --------- - Remove the CLUSTERIP target. It has been marked as obsolete for years, and we still have WARN splats wrt. races of the out-of-band /proc interface installed by this target. - Add 'destroy' commands to nf_tables. They are identical to the existing 'delete' commands, but do not return an error if the referenced object (set, chain, rule...) did not exist. Driver API ---------- - Improve cpumask_local_spread() locality to help NICs set the right IRQ affinity on AMD platforms. - Separate C22 and C45 MDIO bus transactions more clearly. - Introduce new DCB table to control DSCP rewrite on egress. - Support configuration of Physical Layer Collision Avoidance (PLCA) Reconciliation Sublayer (RS) (802.3cg-2019). Modern version of shared medium Ethernet. - Support for MAC Merge layer (IEEE 802.3-2018 clause 99). Allowing preemption of low priority frames by high priority frames. - Add support for controlling MACSec offload using netlink SET. - Rework devlink instance refcounts to allow registration and de-registration under the instance lock. Split the code into multiple files, drop some of the unnecessarily granular locks and factor out common parts of netlink operation handling. - Add TX frame aggregation parameters (for USB drivers). - Add a new attr TCA_EXT_WARN_MSG to report TC (offload) warning messages with notifications for debug. - Allow offloading of UDP NEW connections via act_ct. - Add support for per action HW stats in TC. - Support hardware miss to TC action (continue processing in SW from a specific point in the action chain). - Warn if old Wireless Extension user space interface is used with modern cfg80211/mac80211 drivers. Do not support Wireless Extensions for Wi-Fi 7 devices at all. Everyone should switch to using nl80211 interface instead. - Improve the CAN bit timing configuration. Use extack to return error messages directly to user space, update the SJW handling, including the definition of a new default value that will benefit CAN-FD controllers, by increasing their oscillator tolerance. Protocols: - Support IPv4 big TCP (TSO frames larger than 64kB). - Add IP_LOCAL_PORT_RANGE socket option, to control local port range on socket by socket basis. - Track and report in procfs number of MPTCP sockets used. - Support mixing IPv4 and IPv6 flows in the in-kernel MPTCP path manager. - IPv6: don't check net.ipv6.route.max_size and rely on garbage collection to free memory (similarly to IPv4). - Support Penultimate Segment Pop (PSP) flavor in SRv6 (RFC8986). - ICMP: add per-rate limit counters. - Add support for user scanning requests in ieee802154. - Remove static WEP support. - Support minimal Wi-Fi 7 Extremely High Throughput (EHT) rate reporting. - WiFi 7 EHT channel puncturing support (client & AP). BPF: - Add a rbtree data structure following the "next-gen data structure" precedent set by recently added linked list, that is, by using kfunc + kptr instead of adding a new BPF map type. Netfilter: - Remove the CLUSTERIP target. It has been marked as obsolete for years, and we still have WARN splats wrt races of the out-of-band /proc interface installed by this target. - Add 'destroy' commands to nf_tables. They are identical to the existing 'delete' commands, but do not return an error if the referenced object (set, chain, rule...) did not exist. Driver API: - Improve cpumask_local_spread() locality to help NICs set the right IRQ affinity on AMD platforms. - Separate C22 and C45 MDIO bus transactions more clearly. - Introduce new DCB table to control DSCP rewrite on egress. - Support configuration of Physical Layer Collision Avoidance (PLCA) Reconciliation Sublayer (RS) (802.3cg-2019).
