When calling the KVM_GET_DEBUGREGS ioctl, on some configurations, there
might be some unitialized portions of the kvm_debugregs structure that
could be copied to userspace. Prevent this as is done in the other kvm
ioctls, by setting the whole structure to 0 before copying anything into
it.
Bonus is that this reduces the lines of code as the explicit flag
setting and reserved space zeroing out can be removed.

Now that KVM disables vPMU support on hybrid CPUs, WARN and return zeros
if perf_get_x86_pmu_capability() is invoked on a hybrid CPU. The helper
doesn't provide an accurate accounting of the PMU capabilities for hybrid
CPUs and needs to be enhanced if KVM, or anything else outside of perf,
wants to act on the PMU capabilities.

gains a mechanism to let userspace opt-in to the dangers of exposing a
hybrid vPMU to KVM guests. Virtualizing a hybrid PMU, or at least part of
a hybrid PMU, is possible, but it requires careful, deliberate
configuration from userspace.
E.g. to expose full functionality, vCPUs need to be pinned to pCPUs to
prevent migrating a vCPU between a big core and a little core, userspace
must enumerate a reasonable topology to the guest, and guest CPUID must be
curated per vCPU to enumerate accurate vPMU capabilities.
The last point is especially problematic, as KVM doesn't control which
pCPU it runs on when enumerating KVM's vPMU capabilities to userspace,
i.e. userspace can't rely on KVM_GET_SUPPORTED_CPUID in it's current form.
Alternatively, userspace could enable vPMU support by enumerating the
set of features that are common and coherent across all cores, e.g. by
filtering PMU events and restricting guest capabilities. But again, that
requires userspace to take action far beyond reflecting KVM's supported
feature set into the guest.
For now, simply disable vPMU support on hybrid CPUs to avoid inducing
seemingly random #GPs in guests, and punt support for hybrid CPUs to a
future enabling effort.

Running 'make ARCH=x86 defconfig' on anything other than an x86_64
machine currently results in a 32-bit build, which is rarely what
anyone wants these days.
Change the default so that the 64-bit config gets used unless
the user asks for i386_defconfig, uses ARCH=i386 or runs on
a system that "uname -m" identifies as i386/i486/i586/i686.

broke the use case of running Xen dom0 kernels on machines with an

What this commit was originally fixing - SEV-SNP guests on Hyper-V - is
a more specialized situation which has other issues at the moment anyway
so reverting this now and addressing the issue properly later is the
prudent thing to do.
So revert it in time for the 6.2 proper release.

The uncore subsystem for Meteor Lake is similar to the previous Alder
Lake. The main difference is that MTL provides PMU support for different
tiles, while ADL only provides PMU support for the whole package. On
ADL, there are CBOX, ARB, and clockbox uncore PMON units. On MTL, they
are split into CBOX/HAC_CBOX, ARB/HAC_ARB, and cncu/sncu which provides
a fixed counter for clockticks. Also, new MSR addresses are introduced
on MTL.
The IMC uncore PMON is the same as Alder Lake. Add new PCIIDs of IMC for
Meteor Lake.

The time order is incorrect when the TSC in a PEBS record is used.
$perf record -e cycles:upp dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/null
count=10000
$ perf script --show-task-events
perf-exec 0 0.000000: PERF_RECORD_COMM: perf-exec:915/915
dd 915 106.479872: PERF_RECORD_COMM exec: dd:915/915

dd 915 106.512429: 1 cycles:upp:
ffffffff96c011b7 [unknown] ([unknown])
... ...
The perf time is from sched_clock_cpu(). The current PEBS code
unconditionally convert the TSC to native_sched_clock(). There is a
shift between the two clocks. If the TSC is stable, the shift is
consistent, __sched_clock_offset. If the TSC is unstable, the shift has
to be calculated at runtime.
This patch doesn't support the conversion when the TSC is unstable. The
TSC unstable case is a corner case and very unlikely to happen. If it
happens, the TSC in a PEBS record will be dropped and fall back to
perf_event_clock().

By default, KVM/SVM will intercept attempts by the guest to transition
out of C0. However, the KVM_CAP_X86_DISABLE_EXITS capability can be used
by a VMM to change this behavior. To mitigate the cross-thread return
address predictions bug (X86_BUG_SMT_RSB), a VMM must not be allowed to
override the default behavior to intercept C0 transitions.
Use a module parameter to control the mitigation on processors that are
vulnerable to X86_BUG_SMT_RSB. If the processor is vulnerable to the
X86_BUG_SMT_RSB bug and the module parameter is set to mitigate the bug,
KVM will not allow the disabling of the HLT, MWAIT and CSTATE exits.

Certain AMD processors are vulnerable to a cross-thread return address
predictions bug. When running in SMT mode and one of the sibling threads
transitions out of C0 state, the other sibling thread could use return
target predictions from the sibling thread that transitioned out of C0.
The Spectre v2 mitigations cover the Linux kernel, as it fills the RSB
when context switching to the idle thread. However, KVM allows a VMM to
prevent exiting guest mode when transitioning out of C0. A guest could
act maliciously in this situation, so create a new x86 BUG that can be
used to detect if the processor is vulnerable.

Commit 3bc753c06d ("kbuild: treat char as always unsigned") broke
kprobes. Setting a probe-point on 1 byte conditional jump can cause the

unsigned.
Fix by replacing the unsigned 'immediate.bytes' (plus a cast) with the
signed 'immediate.value' when assigning to the relative jump offset.

Improve atomic update of last_value in pvclock_clocksource_read:
- Atomic update can be skipped if the "last_value" is already
equal to "ret".
- The detection of atomic update failure is not correct. The value,
returned by atomic64_cmpxchg should be compared to the old value
from the location to be updated. If these two are the same, then
atomic update succeeded and "last_value" location is updated to
"ret" in an atomic way. Otherwise, the atomic update failed and
it should be retried with the value from "last_value" - exactly
what atomic64_try_cmpxchg does in a correct and more optimal way.

In kernels compiled with CONFIG_PARAVIRT=n, the compiler re-orders the
DR7 read in exc_nmi() to happen before the call to sev_es_ist_enter().
This is problematic when running as an SEV-ES guest because in this
environment the DR7 read might cause a #VC exception, and taking #VC
exceptions is not safe in exc_nmi() before sev_es_ist_enter() has run.
The result is stack recursion if the NMI was caused on the #VC IST
stack, because a subsequent #VC exception in the NMI handler will
overwrite the stack frame of the interrupted #VC handler.
As there are no compiler barriers affecting the ordering of DR7
reads/writes, make the accesses to this register volatile, forbidding
the compiler to re-order them.
[ bp: Massage text, make them volatile too, to make sure some
aggressive compiler optimization pass doesn't discard them. ]

When serializing and deserializing kvm_sregs, attributes of the segment
descriptors are stored by user space. For unusable segments,
vmx_segment_access_rights skips all attributes and sets them to 0.
This means we zero out the DPL (Descriptor Privilege Level) for unusable
entries.
Unusable segments are - contrary to their name - usable in 64bit mode and
are used by guests to for example create a linear map through the
NULL selector.
VMENTER checks if SS.DPL is correct depending on the CS segment type.
For types 9 (Execute Only) and 11 (Execute Read), CS.DPL must be equal to
SS.DPL [1].
We have seen real world guests setting CS to a usable segment with DPL=3
and SS to an unusable segment with DPL=3. Once we go through an sregs
get/set cycle, SS.DPL turns to 0. This causes the virtual machine to crash
reproducibly.
This commit changes the attribute logic to always preserve attributes for
unusable segments. According to [2] SS.DPL is always saved on VM exits,
regardless of the unusable bit so user space applications should have saved
the information on serialization correctly.
[3] specifies that besides SS.DPL the rest of the attributes of the
descriptors are undefined after VM entry if unusable bit is set. So, there
should be no harm in setting them all to the previous state.

It's caused by the broken discovery table of UPI.
The discovery tables are from hardware. Except for dropping the broken
information, there is nothing Linux can do. Using WARN_ON_ONCE() is
overkilled.
Use the pr_info() to replace WARN_ON_ONCE(), and specify what uncore unit
is dropped and the reason.

The discovery table of UPI on some SPR variants, e.g., MCC, is broken.
The third UPI table may includes a wrong address which points to a
non-exists device. The bug impacts both UPI and M3UPI uncore PMON.
Use a pre-defined UPI and M3UPI table to replace the broken table.
Different BIOS may populate a device into a different domain or a
different BUS. The accurate location can only be retrieved at load time.
Add spr_update_device_location() to update the location of the UPI and
M3UPI in the pre-defined table.

Some units in a discovery table may be broken, e.g., UPI of SPR MCC.
A generic method is required to ignore the broken units.
Add uncore_units_ignore in the struct intel_uncore_init_fun, which
indicates the type ID of broken units. It will be assigned by the
platform-specific code later when the platform has a broken discovery
table.

The current code assumes that the discovery table provides valid
box_ids for the normal units. It's not the case anymore since some units
in the discovery table are broken on some SPR variants.
Factor out uncore_get_box_id(). Check the existence of the type->box_ids
before using it. If it's not available, use pmu_idx.

The hypervisor can enable various new features (SEV_FEATURES[1:63]) and start a
SNP guest. Some of these features need guest side implementation. If any of
these features are enabled without it, the behavior of the SNP guest will be
undefined. It may fail booting in a non-obvious way making it difficult to
debug.
Instead of allowing the guest to continue and have it fail randomly later,
detect this early and fail gracefully.
The SEV_STATUS MSR indicates features which the hypervisor has enabled. While
booting, SNP guests should ascertain that all the enabled features have guest
side implementation. In case a feature is not implemented in the guest, the
guest terminates booting with GHCB protocol Non-Automatic Exit(NAE) termination
request event, see "SEV-ES Guest-Hypervisor Communication Block Standardization"
document (currently at https://developer.amd.com/wp-content/resources/56421.pdf),
section "Termination Request".
Populate SW_EXITINFO2 with mask of unsupported features that the hypervisor can
easily report to the user.
More details in the AMD64 APM Vol 2, Section "SEV_STATUS MSR".

- Move snp_check_features() call to C code.
Note: the CC:stable@ aspect here is to be able to protect older, stable
kernels when running on newer hypervisors. Or not "running" but fail
reliably and in a well-defined manner instead of randomly. ]
