Some architectures do not implement PTRACE_GETREGSET nor
PTRACE_SETREGSET (required by HAVE_ARCH_TRACEHOOK) but only implement
PTRACE_GETREGS and PTRACE_SETREGS (e.g. User-mode Linux).
This improve seccomp selftest portability for architectures without
HAVE_ARCH_TRACEHOOK support by defining a new trigger HAVE_GETREGS. For
now, this is only enabled for i386 and x86_64 architectures. This is
required to be able to run this tests on User-mode Linux.

Now that we've added a 'trigger_async_request' knob to test the
request_firmware_nowait() API, let's use it. Also add tests for the
empty ("") string, since there have been a couple errors in that
handling already.
Since we now have real ways that the sysfs write might fail, let's add
the appropriate check on the 'echo' lines too.

This socket-lookup path did not pass along the skb in question
in my original BPF-based socket selection patch. The skb in the
udpN_lib_lookup2 path can be used for BPF-based socket selection just
like it is in the 'traditional' udpN_lib_lookup path.
udpN_lib_lookup2 kicks in when there are greater than 10 sockets in
the same hlist slot. Coincidentally, I chose 10 sockets per
reuseport group in my functional test, so the lookup2 path was not
excersised. This adds an additional set of tests with 20 sockets.

HMIs (Hypervisor Management|Maintenance Interrupts) are a class of interrupt
on POWER systems.
HMI support has traditionally been exceptionally difficult to test, however
Skiboot ships a tool that, with the correct magic numbers, will inject them.
This, therefore, is a first pass at a script to inject HMIs and monitor
Linux's response. It injects an HMI on each core on every chip in turn
It then watches dmesg to see if it's acknowledged by Linux.
On a Tuletta, I observed that we see 8 (or sometimes 9 or more) events per
injection, regardless of SMT setting, so we wait for 8 before progressing.
It sits in a new scripts/ directory in selftests/powerpc, because it's not
designed to be run as part of the regular make selftests process. In
particular, it is quite possibly going to end up garding lots of your CPUs,
so it should only be run if you know how to undo that.

For ease of use make the context_switch test do something useful when
called with no arguments.
Default to a 30 second run, using threads, doing yield, and use any
online cpu. Make it print out what it's doing to avoid confusion.

When a transaction is aborted, VSR values should rollback to the
checkpointed values before the transaction began. VSRs used elsewhere in
the kernel during a transaction, or while the transaction is suspended
should not affect the checkpointed values.
Prior to the bug fix in commit d31626f70b ("powerpc: Don't corrupt
transactional state when using FP/VMX in kernel") when VMX was requested
by the kernel the .vr_state (which held the checkpointed state of VSRs
before the transaction) was overwritten with the current state from
outside the transation. Thus if the transaction did not complete, the
VSR values would be "rolled back" to potentially incorrect values.

Currently, the console output files ("console.log") are placed in the
build directory initially, then copied to the results directory.
One problem with this is if a qemu refuses to die in a timely fashion
after a kernel hang, it will continue to write after the next qemu
starts up, resulting in confusing output from the old instance of
qemu. This commit prevents such confusion by placing the console.log
files into the results directory to begin with, so that a given instance
of qemu is always writing only to its own console.log file.

Currently, the scripts print a list of warning/bug indicators from the
console.log file. This works well if there are only a few warnings or
bugs, but can be quite annoying if there is a large number. This commit
therefore prints a summary listing the number of each type of warning/bug
indicator, but only if there is at least one such indicator. The full
list is stored in the results directory at console.log.diags, which
makes it easier to find the warning/bugs in the full console.log.

The default test grace period of two minutes is insufficient in some
cases and excessive in others. This commit therefore increases the
default to three minutes, but also adds a --shutdown-grace parameter
to allow the default to be overridden.

Currently, the scripts print "----Start batch" at the beginning of each
batch, which does serve as a good visual delimiter between batches.
Unfortunately, if there are a lot of batches, it is hard to quickly
estimate test runtime from the output of "--dryrun sched". This commit
therefore adds a batch number, so that the beginning-of-batch output
looks like this "----Start batch 10" for the tenth batch.

Create a test to test instance creation and deletion. Several tasks are
created that create 3 directories and delete them. The tasks all create the
same directories. This places a stress on the code that creates and deletes
instances.

This test used the cpupower utility to set the cpu frequency from the
maximum turbo value to the minimum supported value in steps of 100 MHz.
The results are displayed in a table which indicate the "Target" state,
or the requested frequency in MHz, the Actual frequency, as read from
/proc/cpuinfo, the difference between the Target and Actual frequencies,
and the value of MSR 0x199 (MSR_IA32_PERF_CTL) which indicates what
pstate the cpu is in, and the value of
/sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/max_perf_pct X maximum turbo state

1. Avoid the broken when use TARGETS in the command line, eg:
$ make -C tools/testing/selftests TARGETS=capabilities
make[1]: *** No rule to make target 'capabilities', needed by 'all'. Stop.
Replace TARGETS with BINARIES.
2. User need to provide cap-ng.h and libcap-ng.so for cross compiling.
Replace ':=' with '+=' for CFLAGS and introduce LDLIBS to archieve
it. Delete useless EXTRA_CLAGS at the same time.
3. Delete the duplicated definition which is already defined by
lib.mk.

Test the mmap() flag, and the mlockall() flag. These tests ensure that
pages are not faulted in until they are accessed, that the pages are
unevictable once faulted in, and that VMA splitting and merging works with
the new VM flag. The second test ensures that mlock limits are respected.
Note that the limit test needs to be run a normal user.
Also add tests to use the new mlock2 family of system calls.

If we need to increase the number of huge pages, drop caches first
to reduce fragmentation and then check that we actually allocated
as many as we wanted. Retry once if that doesn't work.

Several C programs fail to include the headers declaring all the
functions they call, resulting in warnings or errors.
After this, memfd_test.c is still missing some function declarations
but can't easily get them because of a conflict between
<linux/fcntl.h> and <sys/fcntl.h>.

Calling ioctl(..., RTC_UIE_ON, ...) without CONFIG_RTC_INTF_DEV_UIE_EMUL
either ends in rtc_update_irq_enable if rtc->uie_unsupported is true
or in __rtc_set_alarm in the if (!rtc->ops->set_alarm) branch. In both
cases the return value is -EINVAL. So check for that one instead of

Certain syscall emulation layers strictly check that the number of
arguments match what the syscall handler expects. The KILL_one_arg_one and
KILL_one_arg_six tests passed more parameters than expected to various
syscalls, causing failures in this emulation mode. Instead, test using
syscalls that take the appropriate number of arguments.

Changing arm64 syscalls is done via a specific register set, more like s390
than like arm (specific ptrace call) and x86 (part of general registers).
Since (restarting) poll doesn't exist on arm64, switch to using nanosleep
for testing restart_syscall. And since it looks like the syscall ABI is
inconsistent on arm-compat, so we must work around it (and document it) in
the test.

There is a mandate of 16-byte aligned stack on AArch64 [1], so the
STACK_SIZE here should also be 16-byte aligned, otherwise we would
get an error when calling clone().

To test pstore in earnest, we have to cause kernel crash and check
pstore filesystem after reboot.
We add two scripts:
- pstore_crash_test
This script causes kernel crash and reboot. It is executed by
'make run_pstore_crash' in selftests. It can also be used with kdump.
- pstore_post_reboot_tests
This script includes test cases which check pstore's behavior after
crash and reboot. It is executed together with pstore_tests by
'make run_tests [-C pstore]' in selftests.
The test cases in pstore_post_reboot_tests are currently following.
- Check pstore backend is registered
- Mount pstore filesystem
- Check dmesg/console/pmsg files exist in pstore filesystem
- Check dmesg/console files contain oops end marker
- Check pmsg file properly keeps the content written before crash
- Remove all files in pstore filesystem
Example usage is following.

The pstore_tests script includes test cases which check pstore's
behavior before crash (and reboot).
The test cases are currently following.
- Check pstore backend is registered
- Check pstore console is registered
- Check /dev/pmsg0 exists
- Write unique string to /dev/pmsg0
The unique string written to /dev/pmsg includes UUID. The UUID is also
left in 'uuid' file in order to enable us to check if the pmsg keeps the
string correctly after reboot.

When building against older kernel headers, currently the tm-syscall
test fails to build because PPC_FEATURE2_HTM_NOSC is not defined.
Tweak the test so that if PPC_FEATURE2_HTM_NOSC is not defined it still
builds, but prints a warning at run time and marks the test as skipped.

Commit 7a5692e6e5 ("arch/powerpc: provide zero_bytemask() for
big-endian") added a call to __fls() in our word-at-a-time.h. That was
fine for the kernel build but missed the fact that we also use
word-at-a-time.h in a userspace test.
Pulling in the kernel version of __fls() gets messy, so just define our
own, it's unlikely to change often.

Recently a kernel side NTP bug was fixed via the following commit:
2619d7e9c9 ("time: Fix timekeeping_freqadjust()'s incorrect use of abs() instead of abs64()")
When the bug was reported it was difficult to detect, except by
tweaking the adjtimex tick value, and noticing how quickly the
adjustment took:

Thus this patch introduces a new test which manipulates the
adjtimex tick value and validates that the results are what we
expect.

While the kernel itself doesn't use DWARF unwinding, user code
expects to be able to unwind the vDSO. The vsyscall
(AT_SYSINFO) entry is manually CFI-annotated, and this tests
that it unwinds correctly.
I tested the test by incorrectly annotating __kernel_vsyscall,
and the test indeed fails if I do that.

Real time mutexes is one of the few general primitives
that we do not have in locktorture. Address this -- a few
considerations:
o To spice things up, enable competing thread(s) to become
rt, such that we can stress different prio boosting paths
in the rtmutex code. Introduce a ->task_boost callback,
only used by rtmutex-torturer. Tasks will boost/deboost
around every 50k (arbitrarily) lock/unlock operations.
o Hold times are similar to what we have for other locks:
only occasionally having longer hold times (per ~200k ops).
So we roughly do two full rt boost+deboosting ops with
short hold times.

We don't need to specify an explicit rule in the Makefile, the implicit
one will do the same. The "__EXPORTED_HEADERS__" define is not needed,
because we build the test against the installed kernel headers, not the
in-tree kernel headers. Re-use "$(TEST_PROGS)" in the clean target
rather than spelling the executable name twice. Include <unistd.h>
rather than the rather specific <asm-generic/unistd.h>. Include
<syscall.h> rather than <sys/syscall.h>. In both cases, the former
header is located in a standard location and includes the latter.

On ppc big endian this check fails, the mutex doesn't necessarily need
to be identical for all pages after pthread_mutex_lock/unlock cycles.
The count verification (outside of the pthread_mutex_t structure)
suffices and that is retained.

Keep a non-zero placeholder after the count, for the my_bcmp comparison
of the page against the zeropage. The lockless increment between 255 to
256 against a lockless my_bcmp could otherwise return false positives on
ppc32le.

Add the usr/include subdirectory of the top-level tree to the include
path, and make sure to include headers without relative paths to make
sure the sanitized headers get picked up. Otherwise the compiler will
not be able to find the linux/compiler.h header included by the non-
sanitized include/uapi/linux/userfaultfd.h.
While at it, make sure to only hardcode the syscall numbers on x86 and
PowerPC if they haven't been properly picked up from the headers.

This new test checks that all x86 registers are preserved across
32-bit syscalls. It tests syscalls through VDSO (if available)
and through INT 0x80, normally and under ptrace.
If kernel is a 64-bit one, high registers (r8..r15) are poisoned
before the syscall is called and are checked afterwards.
They must be either preserved, or cleared to zero (but r11 is
special); r12..15 must be preserved for INT 0x80.
EFLAGS is checked for changes too, but change there is not
considered to be a bug (paravirt kernels do not preserve
arithmetic flags).
Run-tested on 64-bit kernel:

With the previous patch, the installation method change from install
to rsync. There is no need to create subdir during test, the
default EMIT_TESTS is enough.
This patch essentially revert commit 84cbd9e4 ("selftests/exec: do not
install subdir as it is already created").

The command of install could not handle the special files in exec
testcases, change the default rule to rsync to fix this.
The installation is unchanged after this commit.

Commit 2bf9e0ab08 ("locking/static_keys: Provide a selftest")
renamed jump_label directory to static_keys and failed to update
the Makefile, causing the selftests build to fail.
This commit fixes it by updating the Makefile with the new name
and also moves the entry into the correct position to keep the
list alphabetically sorted.

This adds support for s390 to the seccomp selftests. Some improvements
were made to enhance the accuracy of failure reporting, and additional
tests were added to validate assumptions about the currently traced
syscall. Also adds early asserts for running on older kernels to avoid
noise when the seccomp syscall is not implemented.

Not all shells define a variable UID. This is a bash and zsh feature only.
In other shells, the UID variable is not defined, so here test command
expands to [ != 0 ] which is a syntax error.
Without this patch:

Update the membarrier syscall self-test to match the membarrier
interface. Extend coverage of the interface. Consider ENOSYS as a
"SKIP" test, since it is a valid configuration, but does not allow
testing the system call.

This manually reverts 7e50533d4b ("selftests: add hugetlbfstest").
The hugetlbfstest test depends on hugetlb pages being counted in a
task's rss. This functionality is not in the kernel, so the test will
always fail. Remove test to avoid confusion.

vm86 exposes an interesting attack surface against the entry
code. Since vm86 is mostly useless anyway if mmap_min_addr != 0,
just turn it off in that case.
There are some reports that vbetool can work despite setting
mmap_min_addr to zero. This shouldn't break that use case,
as CAP_SYS_RAWIO already overrides mmap_min_addr.

zram: Compressed RAM based block devices
----------------------------------------
The zram module creates RAM based block devices named /dev/zram<id>
(<id> = 0, 1, ...). Pages written to these disks are compressed and stored
in memory itself. These disks allow very fast I/O and compression provides
good amounts of memory savings. Some of the usecases include /tmp storage,
use as swap disks, various caches under /var and maybe many more :)
Statistics for individual zram devices are exported through sysfs nodes at
/sys/block/zram<id>/
This patch is to validate the zram functionality. Test interacts with block
device /dev/zram<id> and sysfs nodes /sys/block/zram<id>/

The test failed due to an oversight on my part when run on a
64-bit kernel. vm86 isn't expected to work at all, and I
mistakenly failed one part of the test because no signal was
delivered.

This tests general modify_ldt() behavior (only writes, so far) as
well as synchronous updates via IPI. It fails on old kernels.
I called this ldt_gdt because I'll add set_thread_area() tests to

The seccomp_bpf test uses BPF_LD|BPF_W|BPF_ABS to load 32-bit values
from seccomp_data->args. On big endian machines this will load the high
word of the argument, which is not what the test wants.
Borrow a hack from samples/seccomp/bpf-helper.h which changes the offset
on big endian to account for this.

The entry_from_vm86 selftest was very weak. Improve it: test
more types of kernel entries from vm86 mode and test them more
carefully.
While we're at it, try to improve behavior on non-SEP CPUs. The
old code was buggy because I misunderstood the intended
semantics of #UD in vm86, so I didn't handle a possible signal.

The CONFIG_RCU_CPU_STALL_INFO has been default-y for a couple of
releases with no complaints, so it is time to eliminate this Kconfig
option entirely, so that the long-form RCU CPU stall warnings cannot
be disabled. This commit does just that.

Currently none of the RCU-tasks scenarios enables lockdep-RCU, which
causes bugs to be missed. This commit therefore enables lockdep-RCU
on TASKS01.

This test passes on 4.0 and fails on some newer kernels.
Fortunately, the failure is likely not a big deal.
This test will make sure that we don't break it further (e.g. OOPSing)
as we clean up the entry code and that we eventually fix the
regression.
There's arguably no need to preserve the old ABI here --
anything that makes it into a fast (vDSO) syscall with a bad
stack is about to crash no matter what we do.

Add quicktest support to enable users to choose to run
tests that complete in a short time. Choosing this option
excludes tests that take longer time complete e.g: timers.
User can specify quicktest option from kernel top level or
selftests directory.
