In commit 20704bd163 ("erspan: build the header with the right proto
according to erspan_ver"), it gets the proto with t->parms.erspan_ver,
but t->parms.erspan_ver is not used by collect_md branch, and instead
it should get the proto with md->version for collect_md.

The skb hash comes from sk->sk_txhash when using TCP, except for some
IPv6 RST packets. This is because in tcp_v6_send_reset when not in
TIME_WAIT the hash is taken from sk->sk_hash, while it should come from
sk->sk_txhash as those two hashes are not computed the same way.

When a tunnel device is bound with the underlying device, its
dev->needed_headroom needs to be updated properly. IPv4 tunnels
already do the same in ip_tunnel_bind_dev(). Otherwise we may
not have enough header room for skb, especially after commit
b17f709a24 ("gue: TX support for using remote checksum offload option").

Patch "net: dst: Prevent false sharing vs. dst_entry:: __refcnt" moved
rt_uncached and rt_uncached_list fields from rtable struct to dst
struct, so they are more zeroed by memset_after(xdst, 0, u.dst) in
xfrm_alloc_dst().
Note that rt_uncached (list_head) was never properly initialized at
alloc time, but xfrm[46]_dst_destroy() is written in such a way that
it was not an issue thanks to the memset:

ICMPv6 error packets are not sent to the anycast destinations and this
prevents things like traceroute from working. So create a setting similar
to ECHO when dealing with Anycast sources (icmpv6_echo_ignore_anycast).

This patch fixes a missing 8 byte for the header size calculation. The
ipv6_rpl_srh_size() is used to check a skb_pull() on skb->data which
points to skb_transport_header(). Currently we only check on the
calculated addresses fields using CmprI and CmprE fields, see:
https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc6554#section-3
there is however a missing 8 byte inside the calculation which stands
for the fields before the addresses field. Those 8 bytes are represented
by sizeof(struct ipv6_rpl_sr_hdr) expression.

Today ipip devices in collect-metadata mode don't allow for sending FOU
or GUE encapsulated packets. This patch lifts the restriction by adding
a struct ip_tunnel_encap to the tunnel metadata.
On the egress path, the members of this struct can be set by the
bpf_skb_set_fou_encap kfunc via a BPF tc-hook. Instead of dropping packets
wishing to use additional UDP encapsulation, ip_md_tunnel_xmit now
evaluates the contents of this struct and adds the corresponding FOU or
GUE header. Furthermore, it is making sure that additional header bytes
are taken into account for PMTU discovery.
On the ingress path, an ipip device in collect-metadata mode will fill this
struct and a BPF tc-hook can obtain the information via a call to the
bpf_skb_get_fou_encap kfunc.
The minor change to ip_tunnel_encap, which now takes a pointer to
struct ip_tunnel_encap instead of struct ip_tunnel, allows us to control
FOU encap type and parameters on a per packet-level.

Under high contention dst_entry::__refcnt becomes a significant bottleneck.
atomic_inc_not_zero() is implemented with a cmpxchg() loop, which goes into
high retry rates on contention.
Switch the reference count to rcuref_t which results in a significant
performance gain. Rename the reference count member to __rcuref to reflect
the change.
The gain depends on the micro-architecture and the number of concurrent
operations and has been measured in the range of +25% to +130% with a
localhost memtier/memcached benchmark which amplifies the problem
massively.
Running the memtier/memcached benchmark over a real (1Gb) network
connection the conversion on top of the false sharing fix for struct
dst_entry::__refcnt results in a total gain in the 2%-5% range over the
upstream baseline.

dst_entry::__refcnt is highly contended in scenarios where many connections
happen from and to the same IP. The reference count is an atomic_t, so the
reference count operations have to take the cache-line exclusive.
Aside of the unavoidable reference count contention there is another
significant problem which is caused by that: False sharing.
perf top identified two affected read accesses. dst_entry::lwtstate and
rtable::rt_genid.
dst_entry:__refcnt is located at offset 64 of dst_entry, which puts it into
a seperate cacheline vs. the read mostly members located at the beginning
of the struct.
That prevents false sharing vs. the struct members in the first 64
bytes of the structure, but there is also
dst_entry::lwtstate
which is located after the reference count and in the same cache line. This
member is read after a reference count has been acquired.
struct rtable embeds a struct dst_entry at offset 0. struct dst_entry has a
size of 112 bytes, which means that the struct members of rtable which
follow the dst member share the same cache line as dst_entry::__refcnt.
Especially
rtable::rt_genid
is also read by the contexts which have a reference count acquired
already.
When dst_entry:__refcnt is incremented or decremented via an atomic
operation these read accesses stall. This was found when analysing the
memtier benchmark in 1:100 mode, which amplifies the problem extremly.
Move the rt[6i]_uncached[_list] members out of struct rtable and struct
rt6_info into struct dst_entry to provide padding and move the lwtstate
member after that so it ends up in the same cache line.
The resulting improvement depends on the micro-architecture and the number
of CPUs. It ranges from +20% to +120% with a localhost memtier/memcached
benchmark.

The issue fixed for bonding in commit c2edacf80e ("bonding / ipv6: no
addrconf for slaves separately from master") also exists in team driver.
However, we can't just disable ipv6 addrconf for team ports, as 'teamd'
will need it when nsns_ping watch is used in the user space.
Instead of preventing ipv6 addrconf, this patch only prevents RS packets
for team ports, as it did in commit b52e1cce31 ("ipv6: Don't send rs
packets to the interface of ARPHRD_TUNNEL").
Note that we do not prevent DAD packets, to avoid the changes getting
intricate / hacky. Also, usually sysctl dad_transmits is set to 1 and
only 1 DAD packet will be sent, and by now no libteam user complains
about DAD packets on team ports, unlike RS packets.

Keep the conntrack reference until policy checks have been performed for
IPsec V6 NAT support, just like ipv4.
The reference needs to be dropped before a packet is

icmp/icmp6 matches are baked into ip(6)_tables.ko.
This means that even if iptables-nft is used, a rule like
"-p icmp --icmp-type 1" will load the ip(6)tables modules.
Move them to xt_tcpdudp.ko instead to avoid this.
This will also allow to eventually add kconfig knobs to build kernels
that support iptables-nft but not iptables-legacy (old set/getsockopt
interface).

The xtables packet traverser performs an unconditional local_bh_disable(),
but the nf_tables evaluation loop does not.
Functions that are called from either xtables or nftables must assume
that they can be called in process context.
inet_twsk_deschedule_put() assumes that no softirq interrupt can occur.
If tproxy is used from nf_tables its possible that we'll deadlock
trying to aquire a lock already held in process context.
Add a small helper that takes care of this and use it.

In function rt6_nlmsg_size(), the length of nexthop is calculated
by multipling the nexthop length of fib6_info and the number of
siblings. However if the fib6_info has no lwtunnel but the siblings
have lwtunnels, the nexthop length is less than it should be, and
it will trigger a warning in inet6_rt_notify() as follows:

there is no freeing of the counter block on xt_register_table fail.
Note: xt_percpu_counter_free should be called to free it like we do in
do_replace through cleanup_entry helper (or in __ip6t_unregister_table).
Probability of hitting this error path is low AFAICS (xt_register_table
can only return ENOMEM here, as it is not replacing anything, as we are
creating new netns, and it is hard to imagine that all previous
allocations succeeded and after that one in xt_register_table failed).
But it's worth fixing even the rare leak.

Looking at the code it looks like ret is always 0 at this
point, but its not.

iptables/nftables support responding to tcp packets with tcp resets.
The generated tcp reset packet passes through both output and postrouting
netfilter hooks, but conntrack will never see them because the generated
skb has its ->nfct pointer copied over from the packet that triggered the
reset rule.
If the reset rule is used for established connections, this
may result in the conntrack entry to be around for a very long
time (default timeout is 5 days).
One way to avoid this would be to not copy the nf_conn pointer
so that the rest packet passes through conntrack too.
Problem is that output rules might not have the same conntrack
zone setup as the prerouting ones, so its possible that the
reset skb won't find the correct entry. Generating a template
entry for the skb seems error prone as well.
Add an explicit "closing" function that switches a confirmed
conntrack entry to closed state and wire this up for tcp.
If the entry isn't confirmed, no action is needed because
the conntrack entry will never be committed to the table.

The "flavors" framework defined in RFC8986 [1] represents additional
operations that can modify or extend a subset of existing behaviors such as
SRv6 End, End.X and End.T. We report these flavors hereafter:
- Penultimate Segment Pop (PSP);
- Ultimate Segment Pop (USP);
- Ultimate Segment Decapsulation (USD).
Depending on how the Segment Routing Header (SRH) has to be handled, an
SRv6 End* behavior can support these flavors either individually or in
combinations.
In this patch, we only consider the PSP flavor for the SRv6 End behavior.
A PSP enabled SRv6 End behavior is used by the Source/Ingress SR node
(i.e., the one applying the SRv6 Policy) when it needs to instruct the
penultimate SR Endpoint node listed in the SID List (carried by the SRH) to
remove the SRH from the IPv6 header.
Specifically, a PSP enabled SRv6 End behavior processes the SRH by:
i) decreasing the Segment Left (SL) from 1 to 0;
ii) copying the Last Segment IDentifier (SID) into the IPv6 Destination
Address (DA);
iii) removing (i.e., popping) the outer SRH from the extension headers
following the IPv6 header.
It is important to note that PSP operation (steps i, ii, iii) takes place
only at a penultimate SR Segment Endpoint node (i.e., when the SL=1) and
does not happen at non-penultimate Endpoint nodes. Indeed, when a SID of
PSP flavor is processed at a non-penultimate SR Segment Endpoint node, the
PSP operation is not performed because it would not be possible to decrease
the SL from 1 to 0.

For example, given the SRv6 policy (SID List := < X, Y, Z >):
- a PSP enabled SRv6 End behavior bound to SID "Y" will apply the PSP
operation as Segment Left (SL) is 1, corresponding to the Penultimate
Segment of the SID List;
- a PSP enabled SRv6 End behavior bound to SID "X" will *NOT* apply the
PSP operation as the Segment Left is 2. This behavior instance will
apply the "standard" End packet processing, ignoring the configured PSP
flavor at all.

Commit e48c414ee6 ("[INET]: Generalise the TCP sock ID lookup routines")
commented out the definition of SOCK_REFCNT_DEBUG in 2005 and later another
commit 463c84b97f ("[NET]: Introduce inet_connection_sock") removed it.
Since we could track all of them through bpf and kprobe related tools
and the feature could print loads of information which might not be
that helpful even under a little bit pressure, the whole feature which
has been inactive for many years is no longer supported.

Eric Dumazet pointed out [0] that when we call skb_set_owner_r()
for ipv6_pinfo.pktoptions, sk_rmem_schedule() has not been called,
resulting in a negative sk_forward_alloc.
We add a new helper which clones a skb and sets its owner only
when sk_rmem_schedule() succeeds.
Note that we move skb_set_owner_r() forward in (dccp|tcp)_v6_do_rcv()
because tcp_send_synack() can make sk_forward_alloc negative before
ipv6_opt_accepted() in the crossed SYN-ACK or self-connect() cases.

This code fix a bug that sk->sk_txrehash gets its default enable
value from sysctl_txrehash only when the socket is a TCP listener.
We should have sysctl_txrehash to set the default sk->sk_txrehash,
no matter TCP, nor listerner/connector.

Some applications seem to rely on RAW sockets.
If they use private netns, we can avoid piling all RAW
sockets bound to a given protocol into a single bucket.
Also place (struct raw_hashinfo).lock into its own
cache line to limit false sharing.
Alternative would be to have per-netns hashtables,
but this seems too expensive for most netns
where RAW sockets are not used.

We recently found that our non-point-to-point tunnels were not
generating any IPv6 link local address and instead generating an
IPv6 compat address, breaking IPv6 communication on the tunnel.
Previously, addrconf_gre_config always would call addrconf_addr_gen
and generate a EUI64 link local address for the tunnel.
Then commit e5dd729460 changed the code path so that add_v4_addrs
is called but this only generates a compat IPv6 address for
non-point-to-point tunnels.
I assume the compat address is specifically for SIT tunnels so
have kept that only for SIT - GRE tunnels now always generate link
local addresses.

For our point-to-point GRE tunnels, they have IN6_ADDR_GEN_MODE_NONE
when they are created then we set IN6_ADDR_GEN_MODE_EUI64 when they
come up to generate the IPv6 link local address for the interface.
Recently we found that they were no longer generating IPv6 addresses.
This issue would also have affected SIT tunnels.
Commit e5dd729460 changed the code path so that GRE tunnels
generate an IPv6 address based on the tunnel source address.
It also changed the code path so GRE tunnels don't call addrconf_addr_gen
in addrconf_dev_config which is called by addrconf_sysctl_addr_gen_mode
when the IN6_ADDR_GEN_MODE is changed.
This patch aims to fix this issue by moving the code in addrconf_notify
which calls the addr gen for GRE and SIT into a separate function
and calling it in the places that expect the IPv6 address to be
generated.
The previous addrconf_dev_config is renamed to addrconf_eth_config
since it only expected eth type interfaces and follows the
addrconf_gre/sit_config format.
A part of this changes means that the loopback address will be
attempted to be configured when changing addr_gen_mode for lo.
This should not be a problem because the address should exist anyway
and if does already exist then no error is produced.

There are multiple ICMP rate limiting mechanisms:
* Global limits: net.ipv4.icmp_msgs_burst/icmp_msgs_per_sec
* v4 per-host limits: net.ipv4.icmp_ratelimit/ratemask
* v6 per-host limits: net.ipv6.icmp_ratelimit/ratemask
However, when ICMP output is limited, there is no way to tell
which limit has been hit or even if the limits are responsible
for the lack of ICMP output.
Add counters for each of the cases above. As we are within
local_bh_disable(), use the __INC stats variant.

When proxying IPv6 NDP requests, the adverts to the initial multicast
solicits are correct and working. On the other hand, when later a
reachability confirmation is requested (on unicast), no reply is sent.
This causes the neighbor entry expiring on the sending node, which is
mostly a non-issue, as a new multicast request is sent. There are
routers, where the multicast requests are intentionally delayed, and in
these environments the current implementation causes periodic packet
loss for the proxied endpoints.
The root cause is the erroneous decrease of the hop limit, as this
is checked in ndisc.c and no answer is generated when it's 254 instead
of the correct 255.

Per cpu entries are no longer used in consideration
for doing gc or not. Remove the extra per cpu entries
pull to directly check for time and perform gc.

The total cork length created by ip6_append_data includes extension
headers, so we must exclude them when comparing them against the
IPV6_CHECKSUM offset which does not include extension headers.

Due to several bugs caused by timers being re-armed after they are
shutdown and just before they are freed, a new state of timers was added
called "shutdown". After a timer is set to this state, then it can no
longer be re-armed.
The following script was run to find all the trivial locations where
del_timer() or del_timer_sync() is called in the same function that the
object holding the timer is freed. It also ignores any locations where
the timer->function is modified between the del_timer*() and the free(),
as that is not considered a "trivial" case.
This was created by using a coccinelle script and the following
commands:

sampling to choose properly uniformly random numbers within an

Coccinelle was used to convert all current users of
prandom_u32_max(), as well as many open-coded patterns, resulting in

I'll have a "late" 6.1-rc1 pull for you that removes the now unused
prandom_u32_max() function, just in case any other trees add a new
use case of it that needs to converted. According to linux-next,
there may be two trivial cases of prandom_u32_max() reintroductions
that are fixable with a 's/.../.../'. So I'll have for you a final
conversion patch doing that alongside the removal patch during the
second week.
This is a treewide change that touches many files throughout.
- More consistent use of get_random_canary().
- Updates to comments, documentation, tests, headers, and
simplification in configuration.
- The arch_get_random*_early() abstraction was only used by arm64 and
wasn't entirely useful, so this has been replaced by code that works
in all relevant contexts.
- The kernel will use and manage random seeds in non-volatile EFI
variables, refreshing a variable with a fresh seed when the RNG is
initialized. The RNG GUID namespace is then hidden from efivarfs to
prevent accidental leakage.

EFI subsystem, in this pull request, and related support inside of
EFISTUB, in Ard's EFI tree. These are co-dependent for full
functionality, but the order of merging doesn't matter.
- Part of the infrastructure added for the EFI support is also used for
an improvement to the way vsprintf initializes its siphash key,
replacing an sleep loop wart.
- The hardware RNG framework now always calls its correct random.c
input function, add_hwgenerator_randomness(), rather than sometimes
going through helpers better suited for other cases.
- The add_latent_entropy() function has long been called from the fork
handler, but is a no-op when the latent entropy gcc plugin isn't
used, which is fine for the purposes of latent entropy.
But it was missing out on the cycle counter that was also being mixed
in beside the latent entropy variable. So now, if the latent entropy
gcc plugin isn't enabled, add_latent_entropy() will expand to a call
to add_device_randomness(NULL, 0), which adds a cycle counter,
without the absent latent entropy variable.
- The RNG is now reseeded from a delayed worker, rather than on demand
when used. Always running from a worker allows it to make use of the
CPU RNG on platforms like S390x, whose instructions are too slow to
do so from interrupts. It also has the effect of adding in new inputs
more frequently with more regularity, amounting to a long term
transcript of random values. Plus, it helps a bit with the upcoming
vDSO implementation (which isn't yet ready for 6.2).
- The jitter entropy algorithm now tries to execute on many different
CPUs, round-robining, in hopes of hitting even more memory latencies
and other unpredictable effects. It also will mix in a cycle counter
when the entropy timer fires, in addition to being mixed in from the
main loop, to account more explicitly for fluctuations in that timer
firing. And the state it touches is now kept within the same cache
line, so that it's assured that the different execution contexts will
cause latencies.

IPv6/TCP and GRO stacks can build big TCP packets with an added
temporary Hop By Hop header.
Is GSO is not involved, then the temporary header needs to be removed in
the driver. This patch provides a generic helper for drivers that need
to modify their headers in place.

Currently, in bonding it reused the IFF_SLAVE flag and checked it
in ipv6 addrconf to prevent ipv6 addrconf.
However, it is not a proper flag to use for no ipv6 addrconf, for
bonding it has to move IFF_SLAVE flag setting ahead of dev_open()
in bond_enslave(). Also, IFF_MASTER/SLAVE are historical flags
used in bonding and eql, as Jiri mentioned, the new devices like
Team, Failover do not use this flag.
So as Jiri suggested, this patch adds IFF_NO_ADDRCONF in priv_flags
of the device to indicate no ipv6 addconf, and uses it in bonding
and moves IFF_SLAVE flag setting back to its original place.

Change the behaviour of ip6_datagram_connect to consider the interface
set by the IPV6_UNICAST_IF socket option, similarly to udpv6_sendmsg.
This change is the IPv6 counterpart of the fix for IP_UNICAST_IF.
The tests introduced by that patch showed that the incorrect
behavior is present in IPv6 as well.
This patch fixes the broken test.

If the kernel was short on (atomic) memory and failed to allocate it -
don't proceed to creation of request socket. Otherwise the socket would
be unsigned and userspace likely doesn't expect that the TCP is not
MD5-signed anymore.

To do that, separate two scenarios:
- where it's the first MD5 key on the system, which means that enabling
of the static key may need to sleep;
- copying of an existing key from a listening socket to the request
socket upon receiving a signed TCP segment, where static key was
already enabled (when the key was added to the listening socket).
Now the life-time of the static branch for TCP-MD5 is until:
- last tcp_md5sig_info is destroyed
- last socket in time-wait state with MD5 key is closed.
Which means that after all sockets with TCP-MD5 keys are gone, the
system gets back the performance of disabled md5-key static branch.
While at here, provide static_key_fast_inc() helper that does ref
counter increment in atomic fashion (without grabbing cpus_read_lock()
on CONFIG_JUMP_LABEL=y). This is needed to add a new user for
a static_key when the caller controls the lifetime of another user.

When we call connect() for a socket bound to a wildcard address, we update
saddr locklessly. However, it could result in a data race; another thread
iterating over bhash might see a corrupted address.
Let's update saddr under the bhash bucket's lock.

When connect() is called on a socket bound to the wildcard address,
we change the socket's saddr to a local address. If the socket
fails to connect() to the destination, we have to reset the saddr.
However, when an error occurs after inet_hash6?_connect() in
(dccp|tcp)_v[46]_conect(), we forget to reset saddr and leave
the socket bound to the address.
From the user's point of view, whether saddr is reset or not varies
with errno. Let's fix this inconsistent behaviour.
Note that after this patch, the repro [0] will trigger the WARN_ON()
in inet_csk_get_port() again, but this patch is not buggy and rather
fixes a bug papering over the bhash2's bug for which we need another
fix.
For the record, the repro causes -EADDRNOTAVAIL in inet_hash6_connect()
by this sequence:

We assume the correct errno is -EADDRINUSE when sk->sk_prot->get_port()
fails, so some ->get_port() functions return just 1 on failure and the
callers return -EADDRINUSE instead.
However, mptcp_get_port() can return -EINVAL. Let's not ignore the error.
Note the only exception is inet_autobind(), all of whose callers return
-EAGAIN instead.

syzbot/KCSAN reported that multiple cpus are updating dev->stats.tx_error
concurrently.
This is because sit tunnels are NETIF_F_LLTX, meaning their ndo_start_xmit()
is not protected by a spinlock.
While original KCSAN report was about tx path, rx path has the same issue.

We will soon introduce an optional per-netns hash table
for UDP.
This means we cannot use udp_table directly in most places.
Instead, access it via net->ipv4.udp_table.
The access will be valid only while initialising udp_table
itself and creating/destroying each netns.

AF_RXRPC has some issues that need addressing:
(1) The SACK table has a maximum capacity of 255, but for modern networks
that isn't sufficient. This is hard to increase in the upstream code
because of the way the application thread is coupled to the softirq
and retransmission side through a ring buffer. Adjustments to the rx
protocol allows a capacity of up to 8192, and having a ring
sufficiently large to accommodate that would use an excessive amount
of memory as this is per-call.
(2) Processing ACKs in softirq mode causes the ACKs get conflated, with
only the most recent being considered. Whilst this has the upside
that the retransmission algorithm only needs to deal with the most
recent ACK, it causes DATA transmission for a call to be very bursty
because DATA packets cannot be transmitted in softirq mode. Rather
transmission must be delegated to either the application thread or a
workqueue, so there tend to be sudden bursts of traffic for any
particular call due to scheduling delays.
(3) All crypto in a single call is done in series; however, each DATA
packet is individually encrypted so encryption and decryption of large
calls could be parallelised if spare CPU resources are available.
This is the first of a number of sets of patches that try and address them.
The overall aims of these changes include:
(1) To get rid of the TxRx ring and instead pass the packets round in
queues (eg. sk_buff_head). On the Tx side, each ACK packet comes with
a SACK table that can be parsed as-is, so there's no particular need
to maintain our own; we just have to refer to the ACK.
On the Rx side, we do need to maintain a SACK table with one bit per
entry - but only if packets go missing - and we don't want to have to
perform a complex transformation to get the information into an ACK
packet.
(2) To try and move almost all processing of received packets out of the
softirq handler and into a high-priority kernel I/O thread. Only the
transferral of packets would be left there. I would still use the
encap_rcv hook to receive packets as there's a noticeable performance
drop from letting the UDP socket put the packets into its own queue
and then getting them out of there.
(3) To make the I/O thread also do all the transmission. The app thread
would be responsible for packaging the data into packets and then
buffering them for the I/O thread to transmit. This would make it
easier for the app thread to run ahead of the I/O thread, and would
mean the I/O thread is less likely to have to wait around for a new
packet to come available for transmission.
(4) To logically partition the socket/UAPI/KAPI side of things from the
I/O side of things. The local endpoint, connection, peer and call
objects would belong to the I/O side. The socket side would not then
touch the private internals of calls and suchlike and would not change
their states. It would only look at the send queue, receive queue and
a way to pass a message to cause an abort.
(5) To remove as much locking, synchronisation, barriering and atomic ops
as possible from the I/O side. Exclusion would be achieved by
limiting modification of state to the I/O thread only. Locks would
still need to be used in communication with the UDP socket and the
AF_RXRPC socket API.
(6) To provide crypto offload kernel threads that, when there's slack in
the system, can see packets that need crypting and provide
parallelisation in dealing with them.
(7) To remove the use of system timers. Since each timer would then send
a poke to the I/O thread, which would then deal with it when it had
the opportunity, there seems no point in using system timers if,
instead, a list of timeouts can be sensibly consulted. An I/O thread
only then needs to schedule with a timeout when it is idle.
(8) To use zero-copy sendmsg to send packets. This would make use of the
I/O thread being the sole transmitter on the socket to manage the
dead-reckoning sequencing of the completion notifications. There is a
problem with zero-copy, though: the UDP socket doesn't handle running
out of option memory very gracefully.
With regard to this first patchset, the changes made include:
(1) Some fixes, including a fallback for proc_create_net_single_write(),
setting ack.bufferSize to 0 in ACK packets and a fix for rxrpc
congestion management, which shouldn't be saving the cwnd value
between calls.
(2) Improvements in rxrpc tracepoints, including splitting the timer
tracepoint into a set-timer and a timer-expired trace.
(3) Addition of a new proc file to display some stats.
(4) Some code cleanups, including removing some unused bits and
unnecessary header inclusions.
(5) A change to the recently added UDP encap_err_rcv hook so that it has
the same signature as {ip,ipv6}_icmp_error(), and then just have rxrpc
point its UDP socket's hook directly at those.
(6) Definition of a new struct, rxrpc_txbuf, that is used to hold
transmissible packets of DATA and ACK type in a single 2KiB block
rather than using an sk_buff. This allows the buffer to be on a
number of queues simultaneously more easily, and also guarantees that
the entire block is in a single unit for zerocopy purposes and that
the data payload is aligned for in-place crypto purposes.
(7) ACK txbufs are allocated at proposal and queued for later transmission
rather than being stored in a single place in the rxrpc_call struct,
which means only a single ACK can be pending transmission at a time.
The queue is then drained at various points. This allows the ACK
generation code to be simplified.
(8) The Rx ring buffer is removed. When a jumbo packet is received (which
comprises a number of ordinary DATA packets glued together), it used
to be pointed to by the ring multiple times, with an annotation in a
side ring indicating which subpacket was in that slot - but this is no
longer possible. Instead, the packet is cloned once for each
subpacket, barring the last, and the range of data is set in the skb
private area. This makes it easier for the subpackets in a jumbo
packet to be decrypted in parallel.
(9) The Tx ring buffer is removed. The side annotation ring that held the
SACK information is also removed. Instead, in the event of packet
loss, the SACK data attached an ACK packet is parsed.
(10) Allocate an skcipher request when needed in the rxkad security class
rather than caching one in the rxrpc_call struct. This deals with a
race between externally-driven call disconnection getting rid of the
skcipher request and sendmsg/recvmsg trying to use it because they
haven't seen the completion yet. This is also needed to support
parallelisation as the skcipher request cannot be used by two or more
threads simultaneously.
(11) Call udp_sendmsg() and udpv6_sendmsg() directly rather than going
through kernel_sendmsg() so that we can provide our own iterator
(zerocopy explicitly doesn't work with a KVEC iterator). This also
lets us avoid the overhead of the security hook.

During the initialization of ip6_route_net_init_late(), if file
ipv6_route or rt6_stats fails to be created, the initialization is
successful by default. Therefore, the ipv6_route or rt6_stats file

Another syzbot report [1] with no reproducer hints
at a bug in ip6_gre tunnel (dev:ip6gretap0)
Since ipv6 mcast code makes sure to read dev->mtu once
and applies a sanity check on it (see commit b9b312a7a4
"ipv6: mcast: better catch silly mtu values"), a remaining
possibility is that a layer is able to set dev->mtu to
an underflowed value (high order bit set).
This could happen indeed in ip6gre_tnl_link_config_route(),
ip6_tnl_link_config() and ipip6_tunnel_bind_dev()
Make sure to sanitize mtu value in a local variable before
it is written once on dev->mtu, as lockless readers could
catch wrong temporary value.

When the receiver process and the BH runs on different cores,
udp_rmem_release() experience a cache miss while accessing sk_rcvbuf,
as the latter shares the same cacheline with sk_forward_alloc, written
by the BH.
With this patch, UDP tracks the rcvbuf value and its update via custom
SOL_SOCKET socket options, and copies the forward memory threshold value
used by udp_rmem_release() in a different cacheline, already accessed by
the above function and uncontended.
Since the UDP socket init operation grown a bit, factor out the common
code between v4 and v6 in a shared helper.
Overall the above give a 10% peek throughput increase under UDP flood.

in IPv6 sk->sk_destruct()."), we call inet6_destroy_sock() in
sk->sk_destruct() by setting inet6_sock_destruct() to it to make
sure we do not leak inet6-specific resources.
DCCP sets its own sk->sk_destruct() in the dccp_init_sock(), and
DCCPv6 socket shares it by calling the same init function via
dccp_v6_init_sock().
To call inet6_sock_destruct() from DCCPv6 sk->sk_destruct(), we
export it and set dccp_v6_sk_destruct() in the init function.

When using GSO it can happen that the wrong seq_hi is used for the last
packets before the wrap around. This can lead to double usage of a
sequence number. To avoid this, we should serialize this last GSO
packet.

Currently netfilter's rpfilter and fib modules implicitely initialise
->flowic_uid with 0. This is normally the root UID. However, this isn't
the case in user namespaces, where user ID 0 is mapped to a different
kernel UID. By initialising ->flowic_uid with sock_net_uid(), we get
the root UID of the user namespace, thus keeping the same behaviour
whether or not we're running in a user namepspace.
Note, this is similar to commit 8bcfd0925e ("ipv4: add missing
initialization for flowi4_uid"), which fixed the rp_filter sysctl.

When we call connect() for a UDP socket in a reuseport group, we have
to update sk->sk_reuseport_cb->has_conns to 1. Otherwise, the kernel
could select a unconnected socket wrongly for packets sent to the
connected socket.
However, the current way to set has_conns is illegal and possible to
trigger that problem. reuseport_has_conns() changes has_conns under
rcu_read_lock(), which upgrades the RCU reader to the updater. Then,
it must do the update under the updater's lock, reuseport_lock, but
it doesn't for now.
For this reason, there is a race below where we fail to set has_conns
resulting in the wrong socket selection. To avoid the race, let's split
the reader and updater with proper locking.

The only exception is reuseport_grow() & TCP reqsk migration case.
1) shutdown() TCP listener, which is moved into the latter part of
reuse->socks[] to migrate reqsk.
2) New listen() overflows reuse->socks[] and call reuseport_grow().
3) reuse->max_socks overflows u16 with the new listener.
4) reuseport_grow() pops the old shutdown()ed listener from the array
and update its sk->sk_reuseport_cb as NULL without lock_sock().
shutdown()ed TCP sk->sk_reuseport_cb can be changed without lock_sock(),
but, reuseport_has_conns_set() is called only for UDP under lock_sock(),
so likely(reuse) never be false in reuseport_has_conns_set().

I say "non-uniform", because it doesn't do any rejection sampling
or divisions. Hence, it stays within the prandom_*() namespace, not

I'm currently investigating a "uniform" function for 6.2. We'll see
what comes of that.
By applying these rules uniformly, we get several benefits:
- By using prandom_u32_max() with an upper-bound that the compiler
can prove at compile-time is ≤65536 or ≤256, internally
get_random_u16() or get_random_u8() is used, which wastes fewer
batched random bytes, and hence has higher throughput.
- By using prandom_u32_max() instead of %, when the upper-bound is
not a constant, division is still avoided, because
prandom_u32_max() uses a faster multiplication-based trick instead.
- By using get_random_u16() or get_random_u8() in cases where the
return value is intended to indeed be a u16 or a u8, we waste fewer
batched random bytes, and hence have higher throughput.
This series was originally done by hand while I was on an airplane
without Internet. Later, Kees and I worked on retroactively figuring
out what could be done with Coccinelle and what had to be done
manually, and then we split things up based on that.

Commit 086d49058c ("ipv6: annotate some data-races around sk->sk_prot")
fixed some data-races around sk->sk_prot but it was not enough.
Some functions in inet6_(stream|dgram)_ops still access sk->sk_prot
without lock_sock() or rtnl_lock(), so they need READ_ONCE() to avoid
load tearing.

Originally, inet6_sk(sk)->XXX were changed under lock_sock(), so we were
able to clean them up by calling inet6_destroy_sock() during the IPv6 ->
IPv4 conversion by IPV6_ADDRFORM. However, commit 03485f2adc ("udpv6:
Add lockless sendmsg() support") added a lockless memory allocation path,
which could cause a memory leak:

For now, rxpmtu is only the case, but not to miss the future change
and a similar bug fixed in commit e27326009a ("net: ping6: Fix
memleak in ipv6_renew_options()."), let's set a new function to IPv6
sk->sk_destruct() and call inet6_cleanup_sock() there. Since the
conversion does not change sk->sk_destruct(), we can guarantee that
we can clean up IPv6 resources finally.
We can now remove all inet6_destroy_sock() calls from IPv6 protocol
specific ->destroy() functions, but such changes are invasive to
backport. So they can be posted as a follow-up later for net-next.

Commit 4b340ae20d ("IPv6: Complete IPV6_DONTFRAG support") forgot
to add a change to free inet6_sk(sk)->rxpmtu while converting an IPv6
socket into IPv4 with IPV6_ADDRFORM. After conversion, sk_prot is
changed to udp_prot and ->destroy() never cleans it up, resulting in
a memory leak.
This is due to the discrepancy between inet6_destroy_sock() and
IPV6_ADDRFORM, so let's call inet6_destroy_sock() from IPV6_ADDRFORM
to remove the difference.
However, this is not enough for now because rxpmtu can be changed
without lock_sock() after commit 03485f2adc ("udpv6: Add lockless
sendmsg() support"). We will fix this case in the following patch.
Note we will rename inet6_destroy_sock() to inet6_cleanup_sock() and
remove unnecessary inet6_destroy_sock() calls in sk_prot->destroy()
in the future.
