227c011b2e HID: sony: Report DS4 motion sensors through a separate device
The DS4 motion sensors are currently mapped by the hid-core driver
to non-existing axes in between ABS_MISC and ABS_MT_SLOT, because
the device already exhausted ABS_X-ABS_RZ. For a part the mapping
by hid-core is accomplished by a fixup in hid-sony as the motion
axes actually use vendor specific usage pages.

This patch makes the DS4 use a separate input device for the motion
sensors and reports acceleration data through ABS_X-ABS_Z and
gyroscope data through ABS_RX-ABS_RZ. In addition it extends the
event spec to allow gyroscope data through ABS_RX-ABS_RZ when
INPUT_PROP_ACCELEROMETER is set. This change was suggested by
Peter Hutterer during a discussion on linux-input.

5523662edd Input: add userio module
Debugging input devices, specifically laptop touchpads, can be tricky
without having the physical device handy. Here we try to remedy that
with userio. This module allows an application to connect to a character
device provided by the kernel, and emulate any serio device. In
combination with userspace programs that can record PS/2 devices and
replay them through the /dev/userio device, this allows developers to
debug driver issues on the PS/2 level with devices simply by requesting
a recording from the user experiencing the issue without having to have
the physical hardware in front of them.

3a341a4c30 Input: rotary-encoder - add support for quarter-period mode
Some encoders have both outputs low in stable states, others also have
a stable state with both outputs high (half-period mode) and some have
a stable state in all steps (quarter-period mode). The driver used to
support the former states and with this change it can also support the
later.

This commit also deprecates the 'half-period' property and introduces
a new property 'steps-per-period'. This property specifies the
number of steps (stable states) produced by the rotary encoder
for each GPIO period.

It turns out that only Dell laptops have the separate button bits for
v2 dualpoint sticks and that commit 92bac83dd7 ("Input: alps - non
interleaved V2 dualpoint has separate stick button bits") causes
regressions on Toshiba laptops.

This commit adds a check for Dell laptops to the code for handling these
extra button bits, fixing this regression.

This patch has been tested on a Dell Latitude D620 to make sure that it
does not reintroduce the original problem.

a736775db6 Input: add MT_TOOL_PALM
Currently there are only two "tools" that can be specified by a multi-touch
driver: MT_TOOL_FINGER and MT_TOOL_PEN. In working with Elan (The touch
vendor) and discussing their next-gen devices it seems that it will be
useful to have more tools so that their devices can give the upper layers
of the stack hints as to what is touching the sensor.

In particular they have new experimental firmware that can better
differentiate between palms vs fingertips and would like to plumb a patch
so that we can use their hints in higher-level gesture soft- ware. The
firmware on the device can reasonably do a better job of palm detection
because it has access to all of the raw sensor readings as opposed to just
the width/pressure/etc that are exposed by the driver. As such, the
firmware can characterize what a palm looks like in much finer-grained
detail and this change would allow such a device to share its findings with
the kernel.

5469b19650 Input: xpad - update docs to reflect current state
The last time this documentation was accurate was
just over 8 years ago. In this time we've added
support for two new generations of Xbox console
controllers and dozens of third-party controllers.

This patch unifies terminology and makes it explicit
which model of controller a sentence refers to.

It also expands certain sections to address the latest
versions of Xbox controllers.

Thus this documentation should now be useful to
end users and not contain out-right untruths.

This is the patch's second revision. Prior versions
of this patch altered the driver's TODO list. That
change has been pulled out of this documentation
update patch.

The hw_version 3 Elantech touchpad on the Gigabyte U2442 does not accept
0x0b as initialization value for r10, this stand-alone version of the
driver: http://planet76.com/drivers/elantech/psmouse-elantech-v6.tar.bz2

Uses 0x03 which does work, so this means not setting bit 3 of r10 which
sets: "Enable Real H/W Resolution In Absolute mode"

Which will result in half the x and y resolution we get with that bit set,
so simply not setting it everywhere is not a solution. We've been unable to
find a way to identify touchpads where setting the bit will fail, so this
patch uses a dmi based blacklist for this.

Use the preferred style sizeof(VARIABLE) instead of sizeof(TYPE) in the

too.

It wasn't really clear from the gamepad-API description how ABS values are
mapped exactly. Clarify that negative is left/up and positive is
right/down. Unfortunately, this means I screwed up the Wii U ProController

6e0fe2e572 input: document gamepad API and add extra keycodes
Until today all gamepad input drivers report their data differently. It is
nearly impossible to write applications for more than one device in a
generic way. Therefore, this patch introduces a uniform gamepad API which
will be used for all new drivers.

Instead of mapping buttons by their labels, we now map them by position.
This allows applications to work with any gamepad regardless of the labels
on the buttons. Furthermore, we standardize the ABS_* codes for analog
triggers and sticks.

For D-Pads the long overdue BTN_DPAD_* codes are introduced. They should
be fairly obvious how to use. To avoid confusion, the action buttons now
have BTN_EAST/SOUTH/WEST/NORTH aliases.

This is effectively already in force through input_mt_init_slots, and uinput

0ea6e61122 Documentation: update broken web addresses.
Below you will find an updated version from the original series bunching all patches into one big patch
updating broken web addresses that are located in Documentation/*
Some of the addresses date as far far back as 1995 etc... so searching became a bit difficult,
the best way to deal with these is to use web.archive.org to locate these addresses that are outdated.
Now there are also some addresses pointing to .spec files some are located, but some(after searching
on the companies site)where still no where to be found. In this case I just changed the address
to the company site this way the users can contact the company and they can locate them for the users.

6d0b842d3b Fix CRLF line endings in Documentation/input/iforce-protocol.txt
Emil Medve points out that this documentation file uses CRLF line
endings, which means that if you use

	[core]
		autocrlf=input

(which makes sense if you ever develop under Windows, for example, or if
you use other broken tools) in your git config, git will always complain
about the file being dirty.

This removes the bogus DOS line endings, and removes whitespace at the

deb8ee43a2 USB: xpad: dance pad support
Adds support for dance pads to the xpad driver. Dance pads require the
d-pad to be mapped to four buttons instead of two axes, so that
combinations of up/down and left/right can be hit simultaneously.
Known dance pads are detected, and there is a module parameter added
to default unknown xpad devices to map the d-pad to buttons if this is
desired. (dpad_to_buttons). Minor modifications were made to port the
changes in the original patch to a newer kernel version.

This patch was originally from Dominic Cerquetti originally written
for kernel 2.6.11.4, with minor modifications (API changes for USB,
spelling fixes to the documentation added in the original patch) made
to apply to the current kernel. I have modified Dominic's original
patch per some suggestions from Dmitry Torokhov. (There was nothing
in the patch format description about multiple From: lines, so I
haven't added myself.)

b157d55eef Input: gamecon - add SNES mouse support
SNES gamepads and mice share the same type of interface so they both can be
connected to the parallel port using a simple interface. Adding mouse
support to a gamepad driver may sound funny at first, but doing so in this
case makes it possible to connect and SNES gamepads and mice at the same
time, on the same port.

af64a5ebb8 [PATCH] USB: Buffer overflow patch for Yealink driver
Just a small patch that fixes a small parameter validation bug.

  drivers/usb/input/map_to_7segment.h:
This patch fixes the broken parameter validation in the char to seg7
conversion. This could cause out-of-bounds memory references.

  MAINTAINERS:
Yealink maintainer info now in sorted order.

  Documentation/input/yealink.txt:
Added a Q&A section that answers some common questions.

f7214ff4e8 [PATCH] USB: add apple usb touchpad driver
This is a driver for the USB touchpad which can be found on post-February 2005
Apple PowerBooks.

This driver is derived from Johannes Berg's appletrackpad driver [1],
but it has been improved in some areas:
    * appletouch is a full kernel driver, no userspace program is necessary
    * appletouch can be interfaced with the synaptics X11 driver[2], in order
to have touchpad acceleration, scrolling, two/three finger tap, etc.

This driver has been tested by the readers of the 'debian-powerpc' mailing
list for a few weeks now and I believe it is now ready for inclusion into the
mainline kernel.

Credits go to Johannes Berg for reverse-engineering the touchpad protocol,
Frank Arnold for further improvements, and Alex Harper for some additional
information about the inner workings of the touchpad sensors.

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.

Let it rip!
