41badc15cb mm: make do_mmap_pgoff return populate as a size in bytes, not as a bool
do_mmap_pgoff() rounds up the desired size to the next PAGE_SIZE
multiple, however there was no equivalent code in mm_populate(), which
caused issues.

This could be fixed by introduced the same rounding in mm_populate(),
however I think it's preferable to make do_mmap_pgoff() return populate
as a size rather than as a boolean, so we don't have to duplicate the
size rounding logic in mm_populate().

bebeb3d68b mm: introduce mm_populate() for populating new vmas
When creating new mappings using the MAP_POPULATE / MAP_LOCKED flags (or
with MCL_FUTURE in effect), we want to populate the pages within the
newly created vmas. This may take a while as we may have to read pages
from disk, so ideally we want to do this outside of the write-locked
mmap_sem region.

This change introduces mm_populate(), which is used to defer populating
such mappings until after the mmap_sem write lock has been released.
This is implemented as a generalization of the former do_mlock_pages(),
which accomplished the same task but was using during mlock() /
mlockall().

997071bcb3 mm: export a function to get vm committed memory
It will be useful to be able to access global memory commitment from
device drivers. On the Hyper-V platform, the host has a policy engine to
balance the available physical memory amongst all competing virtual
machines hosted on a given node. This policy engine is driven by a number
of metrics including the memory commitment reported by the guests. The
balloon driver for Linux on Hyper-V will use this function to retrieve
guest memory commitment. This function is also used in Xen self
ballooning code.

6b2dbba8b6 mm: replace vma prio_tree with an interval tree
Implement an interval tree as a replacement for the VMA prio_tree. The
algorithms are similar to lib/interval_tree.c; however that code can't be
directly reused as the interval endpoints are not explicitly stored in the
VMA. So instead, the common algorithm is moved into a template and the
details (node type, how to get interval endpoints from the node, etc) are
filled in using the C preprocessor.

Once the interval tree functions are available, using them as a
replacement to the VMA prio tree is a relatively simple, mechanical job.

314e51b985 mm: kill vma flag VM_RESERVED and mm->reserved_vm counter
A long time ago, in v2.4, VM_RESERVED kept swapout process off VMA,
currently it lost original meaning but still has some effects:

 | effect | alternative flags
-+------------------------+---------------------------------------------
1| account as reserved_vm | VM_IO
2| skip in core dump | VM_IO, VM_DONTDUMP
3| do not merge or expand | VM_IO, VM_DONTEXPAND, VM_HUGETLB, VM_PFNMAP
4| do not mlock | VM_IO, VM_DONTEXPAND, VM_HUGETLB, VM_PFNMAP

This patch removes reserved_vm counter from mm_struct. Seems like nobody
cares about it, it does not exported into userspace directly, it only
reduces total_vm showed in proc.

Thus VM_RESERVED can be replaced with VM_IO or pair VM_DONTEXPAND | VM_DONTDUMP.

remap_pfn_range() and io_remap_pfn_range() set VM_IO|VM_DONTEXPAND|VM_DONTDUMP.
remap_vmalloc_range() set VM_DONTEXPAND | VM_DONTDUMP.

e9714acf8c mm: kill vma flag VM_EXECUTABLE and mm->num_exe_file_vmas
Currently the kernel sets mm->exe_file during sys_execve() and then tracks
number of vmas with VM_EXECUTABLE flag in mm->num_exe_file_vmas, as soon
as this counter drops to zero kernel resets mm->exe_file to NULL. Plus it
resets mm->exe_file at last mmput() when mm->mm_users drops to zero.

VMA with VM_EXECUTABLE flag appears after mapping file with flag
MAP_EXECUTABLE, such vmas can appears only at sys_execve() or after vma
splitting, because sys_mmap ignores this flag. Usually binfmt module sets
mm->exe_file and mmaps executable vmas with this file, they hold
mm->exe_file while task is running.

comment from v2.6.25-6245-g925d1c4 ("procfs task exe symlink"),
where all this stuff was introduced:

> The kernel implements readlink of /proc/pid/exe by getting the file from
> the first executable VMA. Then the path to the file is reconstructed and
> reported as the result.
>
> Because of the VMA walk the code is slightly different on nommu systems.
> This patch avoids separate /proc/pid/exe code on nommu systems. Instead of
> walking the VMAs to find the first executable file-backed VMA we store a
> reference to the exec'd file in the mm_struct.
>
> That reference would prevent the filesystem holding the executable file
> from being unmounted even after unmapping the VMAs. So we track the number
> of VM_EXECUTABLE VMAs and drop the new reference when the last one is
> unmapped. This avoids pinning the mounted filesystem.

exe_file's vma accounting is hooked into every file mmap/unmmap and vma
split/merge just to fix some hypothetical pinning fs from umounting by mm,
which already unmapped all its executable files, but still alive.

Seems like currently nobody depends on this behaviour. We can try to
remove this logic and keep mm->exe_file until final mmput().

mm->exe_file is still protected with mm->mmap_sem, because we want to
change it via new sys_prctl(PR_SET_MM_EXE_FILE). Also via this syscall
task can change its mm->exe_file and unpin mountpoint explicitly.

0b173bc4da mm: kill vma flag VM_CAN_NONLINEAR
Move actual pte filling for non-linear file mappings into the new special
vma operation: ->remap_pages().

Filesystems must implement this method to get non-linear mapping support,
if it uses filemap_fault() then generic_file_remap_pages() can be used.

Now device drivers can implement this method and obtain nonlinear vma support.

6be5ceb02e VM: add "vm_mmap()" helper function
This continues the theme started with vm_brk() and vm_munmap():
vm_mmap() does the same thing as do_mmap(), but additionally does the
required VM locking.

This uninlines (and rewrites it to be clearer) do_mmap(), which sadly
duplicates it in mm/mmap.c and mm/nommu.c. But that way we don't have
to export our internal do_mmap_pgoff() function.

Some day we hopefully don't have to export do_mmap() either, if all
modular users can become the simpler vm_mmap() instead. We're actually
very close to that already, with the notable exception of the (broken)
use in i810, and a couple of stragglers in binfmt_elf.

8f3b1327aa mm/nommu.c: fix remap_pfn_range()
remap_pfn_range() means map physical address pfn<<PAGE_SHIFT to user addr.

For nommu arch it's implemented by vma->vm_start = pfn << PAGE_SHIFT which
is wrong acroding the original meaning of this function. And some driver
developer using remap_pfn_range() with correct parameter will get
unexpected result because vm_start is changed. It should be implementd
like addr = pfn << PAGE_SHIFT but which is meanless on nommu arch, this
patch just make it simply return.

Parameter name and setting of vma->vm_flags also be fixed.

f67d9b1576 nommu: add page alignment to mmap
Currently on nommu arch mmap(),mremap() and munmap() doesn't do
page_align() which isn't consist with mmu arch and cause some issues.

First, some drivers' mmap() function depends on vma->vm_end - vma->start
is page aligned which is true on mmu arch but not on nommu. eg: uvc
camera driver.

Second munmap() may return -EINVAL[split file] error in cases when end is
not page aligned(passed into from userspace) but vma->vm_end is aligned
dure to split or driver's mmap() ops.

6038def0d1 mm: nommu: sort mm->mmap list properly
When I was reading nommu code, I found that it handles the vma list/tree
in an unusual way. IIUC, because there can be more than one
identical/overrapped vmas in the list/tree, it sorts the tree more
strictly and does a linear search on the tree. But it doesn't applied to
the list (i.e. the list could be constructed in a different order than
the tree so that we can't use the list when finding the first vma in that
order).

Since inserting/sorting a vma in the tree and link is done at the same
time, we can easily construct both of them in the same order. And linear
searching on the tree could be more costly than doing it on the list, it
can be converted to use the list.

Also, after the commit 297c5eee37 ("mm: make the vma list be doubly
linked") made the list be doubly linked, there were a couple of code need
to be fixed to construct the list properly.

Patch 1/6 is a preparation. It maintains the list sorted same as the tree
and construct doubly-linked list properly. Patch 2/6 is a simple
optimization for the vma deletion. Patch 3/6 and 4/6 convert tree
traversal to list traversal and the rest are simple fixes and cleanups.

This patch:

@vma added into @mm should be sorted by start addr, end addr and VMA
struct addr in that order because we may get identical VMAs in the @mm.
However this was true only for the rbtree, not for the list.

This patch fixes this by remembering 'rb_prev' during the tree traversal
like find_vma_prepare() does and linking the @vma via __vma_link_list().
After this patch, we can iterate the whole VMAs in correct order simply by
using @mm->mmap list.

7bf02ea22c arch, mm: filter disallowed nodes from arch specific show_mem functions
Architectures that implement their own show_mem() function did not pass
the filter argument to show_free_areas() to appropriately avoid emitting
the state of nodes that are disallowed in the current context. This patch
now passes the filter argument to show_free_areas() so those nodes are now
avoided.

This patch also removes the show_free_areas() wrapper around
__show_free_areas() and converts existing callers to pass an empty filter.

ia64 emits additional information for each node, so skip_free_areas_zone()
must be made global to filter disallowed nodes and it is converted to use
a nid argument rather than a zone for this use case.

As it assumes that the mappings begin at the start of pages - something that
isn't necessarily true on NOMMU systems. On NOMMU systems, it is possible for
a mapping to only occupy part of the page, and not necessarily touch either end

5beb493052 mm: change anon_vma linking to fix multi-process server scalability issue
The old anon_vma code can lead to scalability issues with heavily forking
workloads. Specifically, each anon_vma will be shared between the parent
process and all its child processes.

In a workload with 1000 child processes and a VMA with 1000 anonymous
pages per process that get COWed, this leads to a system with a million
anonymous pages in the same anon_vma, each of which is mapped in just one
of the 1000 processes. However, the current rmap code needs to walk them
all, leading to O(N) scanning complexity for each page.

This can result in systems where one CPU is walking the page tables of
1000 processes in page_referenced_one, while all other CPUs are stuck on
the anon_vma lock. This leads to catastrophic failure for a benchmark
like AIM7, where the total number of processes can reach in the tens of
thousands. Real workloads are still a factor 10 less process intensive
than AIM7, but they are catching up.

This patch changes the way anon_vmas and VMAs are linked, which allows us
to associate multiple anon_vmas with a VMA. At fork time, each child
process gets its own anon_vmas, in which its COWed pages will be
instantiated. The parents' anon_vma is also linked to the VMA, because
non-COWed pages could be present in any of the children.

This reduces rmap scanning complexity to O(1) for the pages of the 1000
child processes, with O(N) complexity for at most 1/N pages in the system.
This reduces the average scanning cost in heavily forking workloads from
O(N) to 2.

The only real complexity in this patch stems from the fact that linking a
VMA to anon_vmas now involves memory allocations. This means vma_adjust
can fail, if it needs to attach a VMA to anon_vma structures. This in
turn means error handling needs to be added to the calling functions.

A second source of complexity is that, because there can be multiple
anon_vmas, the anon_vma linking in vma_adjust can no longer be done under
"the" anon_vma lock. To prevent the rmap code from walking up an
incomplete VMA, this patch introduces the VM_LOCK_RMAP VMA flag. This bit
flag uses the same slot as the NOMMU VM_MAPPED_COPY, with an ifdef in mm.h
to make sure it is impossible to compile a kernel that needs both symbolic
values for the same bitflag.

Some test results:

Without the anon_vma changes, when AIM7 hits around 9.7k users (on a test
box with 16GB RAM and not quite enough IO), the system ends up running
>99% in system time, with every CPU on the same anon_vma lock in the
pageout code.

With these changes, AIM7 hits the cross-over point around 29.7k users.
This happens with ~99% IO wait time, there never seems to be any spike in
system time. The anon_vma lock contention appears to be resolved.

	b = mmap(NULL, 16 * 1024, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_SHARED, fd, 0);
	munmap(a, 32 * 1024);
	ftruncate(fd, 16 * 1024);
	c = mmap(NULL, 32 * 1024, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_SHARED, fd, 0);

Mapping 'a' creates a vm_region covering 32KB of the file. Mapping 'b'
sees that the vm_region from 'a' is covering the region it wants and so
shares it, pinning it in memory.

Mapping 'a' then goes away and the file is truncated to the end of VMA
'b'. However, the region allocated by 'a' is still in effect, and has
_not_ been reduced.

Mapping 'c' is then created, and because there's a vm_region covering the
desired region, get_unmapped_area() is _not_ called to repeat the check,
and the mapping is granted, even though the pages from the latter half of
the mapping have been discarded.

However:

	d = mmap(NULL, 16 * 1024, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_SHARED, fd, 0);

Mapping 'd' should work, and should end up sharing the region allocated by
'a'.

To deal with this, we shrink the vm_region struct during the truncation,
lest do_mmap_pgoff() take it as licence to share the full region
automatically without calling the get_unmapped_area() file op again.

779c10232c nommu: remove a superfluous check of vm_region::vm_usage
In split_vma(), there's no need to check if the VMA being split has a
region that's in use by more than one VMA because:

 (1) The preceding test prohibits splitting of non-anonymous VMAs and regions
(eg: file or chardev backed VMAs).

 (2) Anonymous regions can't be mapped multiple times because there's no handle
by which to refer to the already existing region.

 (3) If a VMA has previously been split, then the region backing it has also
been split into two regions, each of usage 1.

7959722b95 NOMMU: Use copy_*_user_page() in access_process_vm()
The MMU code uses the copy_*_user_page() variants in access_process_vm()
rather than copy_*_user() as the former includes an icache flush. This
is important when doing things like setting software breakpoints with
gdb. So switch the NOMMU code over to do the same.

This patch makes the reasonable assumption that copy_from_user_page()
won't fail - which is probably fine, as we've checked the VMA from which
we're copying is usable, and the copy is not allowed to cross VMAs. The
one case where it might go wrong is if the VMA is a device rather than
RAM, and that device returns an error which - in which case rubbish will
be returned rather than EIO.

cfe79c00a2 NOMMU: Avoiding duplicate icache flushes of shared maps
When working with FDPIC, there are many shared mappings of read-only
code regions between applications (the C library, applet packages like
busybox, etc.), but the current do_mmap_pgoff() function will issue an
icache flush whenever a VMA is added to an MM instead of only doing it
when the map is initially created.

The flush can instead be done when a region is first mmapped PROT_EXEC.
Note that we may not rely on the first mapping of a region being
executable - it's possible for it to be PROT_READ only, so we have to
remember whether we've flushed the region or not, and then flush the
entire region when a bit of it is made executable.

However, this also affects the brk area. That will no longer be
executable. We can mprotect() it to PROT_EXEC on MPU-mode kernels, but
for NOMMU mode kernels, when it increases the brk allocation, making
sys_brk() flush the extra from the icache should suffice. The brk area
probably isn't used by NOMMU programs since the brk area can only use up
the leavings from the stack allocation, where the stack allocation is
larger than requested.

ea63763959 nommu: fix malloc performance by adding uninitialized flag
The NOMMU code currently clears all anonymous mmapped memory. While this
is what we want in the default case, all memory allocation from userspace
under NOMMU has to go through this interface, including malloc() which is
allowed to return uninitialized memory. This can easily be a significant
performance penalty. So for constrained embedded systems were security is
irrelevant, allow people to avoid clearing memory unnecessarily.

This also alters the ELF-FDPIC binfmt such that it obtains uninitialised

645d83c5db NOMMU: Fix MAP_PRIVATE mmap() of objects where the data can be mapped directly
Fix MAP_PRIVATE mmap() of files and devices where the data in the backing store
might be mapped directly. Use the BDI_CAP_MAP_DIRECT capability flag to govern
whether or not we should be trying to map a file directly. This can be used to
determine whether or not a region has been filled in at the point where we call
do_mmap_shared() or do_mmap_private().

The BDI_CAP_MAP_DIRECT capability flag is cleared by validate_mmap_request() if
there's any reason we can't use it. It's also cleared in do_mmap_pgoff() if
f_op->get_unmapped_area() fails.

Without this fix, attempting to run a program from a RomFS image on a

this can be caught in gdb:

eb8cdec4a9 nommu: add support for Memory Protection Units (MPU)
Some architectures (like the Blackfin arch) implement some of the
"simpler" features that one would expect out of a MMU such as memory

In our case, we actually get read/write/exec protection down to the page

There is a performance decrease (which depends greatly on the workload)
however as the hardware/software interaction was not optimized at design

788084aba2 Security/SELinux: seperate lsm specific mmap_min_addr
Currently SELinux enforcement of controls on the ability to map low memory
is determined by the mmap_min_addr tunable. This patch causes SELinux to
ignore the tunable and instead use a seperate Kconfig option specific to how
much space the LSM should protect.

The tunable will now only control the need for CAP_SYS_RAWIO and SELinux
permissions will always protect the amount of low memory designated by
CONFIG_LSM_MMAP_MIN_ADDR.

This allows users who need to disable the mmap_min_addr controls (usual reason
being they run WINE as a non-root user) to do so and still have SELinux
controls preventing confined domains (like a web server) from being able to
map some area of low memory.

With the introduction of follow_pfn() as an exported symbol, modules have

This provides a simple follow_pfn() that just returns addr >> PAGE_SHIFT,

fc4d5c292b nommu: make the initial mmap allocation excess behaviour Kconfig configurable
NOMMU mmap() has an option controlled by a sysctl variable that determines
whether the allocations made by do_mmap_private() should have the excess
space trimmed off and returned to the allocator. Make the initial setting
of this variable a Kconfig configuration option.

The reason there can be excess space is that the allocator only allocates
in power-of-2 size chunks, but mmap()'s can be made in sizes that aren't a
power of 2.

There are two alternatives:

 (1) Keep the excess as dead space. The dead space then remains unused for the
lifetime of the mapping. Mappings of shared objects such as libc, ld.so
or busybox's text segment may retain their dead space forever.

 (2) Return the excess to the allocator. This means that the dead space is
limited to less than a page per mapping, but it means that for a transient
process, there's more chance of fragmentation as the excess space may be
     reused fairly quickly.

During the boot process, a lot of transient processes are created, and
this can cause a lot of fragmentation as the pagecache and various slabs
grow greatly during this time.

By turning off the trimming of excess space during boot and disabling
batching of frees, Coldfire can manage to boot.

A better way of doing things might be to have /sbin/init turn this option
off. By that point libc, ld.so and init - which are all long-duration
processes - have all been loaded and trimmed.

Because NR_CPUS can be greater than 1000 and meminfo_proc_show() does
not check for underflow.

But NR_CPUS proportional isn't good calculation. In general,
possibility of lock contention is proportional to the number of online
cpus, not theorical maximum cpus (NR_CPUS).

The current kernel has generic percpu-counter stuff. using it is right
way. it makes code simplify and percpu_counter_read_positive() don't
make underflow issue.

Fix a number of issues with the per-MM VMA patch:

 (1) Make mmap_pages_allocated an atomic_long_t, just in case this is used on
a NOMMU system with more than 2G pages. Makes no difference on a 32-bit
     system.

 (2) Report vma->vm_pgoff * PAGE_SIZE as a 64-bit value, not a 32-bit value,
     lest it overflow.

 (3) Move the allocation of the vm_area_struct slab back for fork.c.

 (4) Use KMEM_CACHE() for both vm_area_struct and vm_region slabs.

 (5) Use BUG_ON() rather than if () BUG().

 (6) Make the default validate_nommu_regions() a static inline rather than a
     #define.

 (7) Make free_page_series()'s objection to pages with a refcount != 1 more
     informative.

 (8) Adjust the __put_nommu_region() banner comment to indicate that the

 (9) Limit the number of warnings about munmaps of non-mmapped regions.

ab2e83ead4 NOMMU: Teach kobjsize() about VMA regions.
Now that we no longer use compound pages for all large allocations,
kobjsize() actively breaks things like binfmt_flat by always handing

Ideally binfmt_flat wants to get rid of kobjsize() completely, but

dd8632a12e NOMMU: Make mmap allocation page trimming behaviour configurable.
NOMMU mmap allocates a piece of memory for an mmap that's rounded up in size to
the nearest power-of-2 number of pages. Currently it then discards the excess
pages back to the page allocator, making that memory available for use by other
things. This can, however, cause greater amount of fragmentation.

To counter this, a sysctl is added in order to fine-tune the trimming
behaviour. The default behaviour remains to trim pages aggressively, while
this can either be disabled completely or set to a higher page-granular
watermark in order to have finer-grained control.

8feae13110 NOMMU: Make VMAs per MM as for MMU-mode linux
Make VMAs per mm_struct as for MMU-mode linux. This solves two problems:

 (1) In SYSV SHM where nattch for a segment does not reflect the number of
     shmat's (and forks) done.

 (2) In mmap() where the VMA's vm_mm is set to point to the parent mm by an
exec'ing process when VM_EXECUTABLE is specified, regardless of the fact
that a VMA might be shared and already have its vm_mm assigned to another
     process or a dead process.

A new struct (vm_region) is introduced to track a mapped region and to remember
the circumstances under which it may be shared and the vm_list_struct structure
is discarded as it's no longer required.

This patch makes the following additional changes:

 (1) Regions are now allocated with alloc_pages() rather than kmalloc() and
with no recourse to __GFP_COMP, so the pages are not composite. Instead,
each page has a reference on it held by the region. Anything else that is
interested in such a page will have to get a reference on it to retain it.
When the pages are released due to unmapping, each page is passed to
put_page() and will be freed when the page usage count reaches zero.

 (2) Excess pages are trimmed after an allocation as the allocation must be
made as a power-of-2 quantity of pages.

 (3) VMAs are added to the parent MM's R/B tree and mmap lists. As an MM may
end up with overlapping VMAs within the tree, the VMA struct address is
     appended to the sort key.

 (4) Non-anonymous VMAs are now added to the backing inode's prio list.

 (5) Holes may be punched in anonymous VMAs with munmap(), releasing parts of
the backing region. The VMA and region structs will be split if
     necessary.

 (6) sys_shmdt() only releases one attachment to a SYSV IPC shared memory
segment instead of all the attachments at that addresss. Multiple
shmat()'s return the same address under NOMMU-mode instead of different
     virtual addresses as under MMU-mode.

 (7) Core dumping for ELF-FDPIC requires fewer exceptions for NOMMU-mode.

 (8) /proc/maps is now the global list of mapped regions, and may list bits
     that aren't actually mapped anywhere.

 (9) /proc/meminfo gains a line (tagged "MmapCopy") that indicates the amount
of RAM currently allocated by mmap to hold mappable regions that can't be
mapped directly. These are copies of the backing device or file if not
     anonymous.

These changes make NOMMU mode more similar to MMU mode. The downside is that
NOMMU mode requires some extra memory to track things over NOMMU without this
patch (VMAs are no longer shared, and there are now region structs).

b291f00039 mlock: mlocked pages are unevictable
Make sure that mlocked pages also live on the unevictable LRU, so kswapd
will not scan them over and over again.

This is achieved through various strategies:

1) add yet another page flag--PG_mlocked--to indicate that
the page is locked for efficient testing in vmscan and,
optionally, fault path. This allows early culling of
unevictable pages, preventing them from getting to
   page_referenced()/try_to_unmap().  Also allows separate
accounting of mlock'd pages, as Nick's original patch
   did.

Note: Nick's original mlock patch used a PG_mlocked
flag. I had removed this in favor of the PG_unevictable
flag + an mlock_count [new page struct member]. I
restored the PG_mlocked flag to eliminate the new
   count field.

2) add the mlock/unevictable infrastructure to mm/mlock.c,
with internal APIs in mm/internal.h. This is a rework
of Nick's original patch to these files, taking into
account that mlocked pages are now kept on unevictable
   LRU list.

3) update vmscan.c:page_evictable() to check PageMlocked()
and, if vma passed in, the vm_flags. Note that the vma
   will only be passed in for new pages in the fault path;
and then only if the "cull unevictable pages in fault
   path" patch is included.

4) add try_to_unlock() to rmap.c to walk a page's rmap and
ClearPageMlocked() if no other vmas have it mlocked.
Reuses as much of try_to_unmap() as possible. This
effectively replaces the use of one of the lru list links
as an mlock count. If this mechanism let's pages in mlocked
vmas leak through w/o PG_mlocked set [I don't know that it
does], we should catch them later in try_to_unmap(). One
hopes this will be rare, as it will be relatively expensive.

5a1603be58 nommu: Correct kobjsize() page validity checks.
This implements a few changes on top of the recent kobjsize() refactoring
introduced by commit 6cfd53fc03.

As Christoph points out:

virt_to_head_page cannot return NULL. virt_to_page also
does not return NULL. pfn_valid() needs to be used to
figure out if a page is valid. Otherwise the page struct
reference that was returned may have PageReserved() set
to indicate that it is not a valid page.

As discussed further in the thread, virt_addr_valid() is the preferable
way to validate the object pointer in this case. In addition to fixing
up the reserved page case, it also has the benefit of encapsulating the
hack introduced by commit 4016a1390d on
the impacted platforms, allowing us to get rid of the extra checking in
kobjsize() for the platforms that don't perform this type of bizarre
memory_end abuse (every nommu platform that isn't blackfin). If blackfin
decides to get in line with every other platform and use PageReserved
for the DMA pages in question, kobjsize() will also continue to work
fine.

It also turns out that compound_order() will give us back 0-order for
non-head pages, so we can get rid of the PageCompound check and just
use compound_order() directly. Clean that up while we're at it.

6cfd53fc03 nommu: fix kobjsize() for SLOB and SLUB
kobjsize() has been abusing page->index as a method for sorting out
compound order, which blows up both for page cache pages, and SLOB's
reuse of the index in struct slob_page.

Presently we are not able to accurately size arbitrary pointers that
don't come from kmalloc(), so the best we can do is sort out the
compound order from the head page if it's a compound page, or default
to 0-order if it's impossible to ksize() the object.

Obviously this leaves quite a bit to be desired in terms of object
sizing accuracy, but the behaviour is unchanged over the existing
implementation, while fixing the page->index oopses originally reported
here:

	http://marc.info/?l=linux-mm&m=121127773325245&w=2

Accuracy could also be improved by having SLUB and SLOB both set PG_slab
on ksizeable pages, rather than just handling the __GFP_COMP cases
irregardless of the PG_slab setting, as made possibly with Pekka's
patches:

	http://marc.info/?l=linux-kernel&m=121139439900534&w=2
	http://marc.info/?l=linux-kernel&m=121139440000537&w=2
	http://marc.info/?l=linux-kernel&m=121139440000540&w=2

This is primarily a bugfix for nommu systems for 2.6.26, with the aim
being to gradually kill off kobjsize() and its particular brand of
object abuse entirely.
