94bc2249f0 drm/gpuvm: add an abstraction for a VM / BO combination
Add an abstraction layer between the drm_gpuva mappings of a particular
drm_gem_object and this GEM object itself. The abstraction represents a
combination of a drm_gem_object and drm_gpuvm. The drm_gem_object holds
a list of drm_gpuvm_bo structures (the structure representing this
abstraction), while each drm_gpuvm_bo contains list of mappings of this
GEM object.

This has multiple advantages:

1) We can use the drm_gpuvm_bo structure to attach it to various lists
   of the drm_gpuvm. This is useful for tracking external and evicted
   objects per VM, which is introduced in subsequent patches.

2) Finding mappings of a certain drm_gem_object mapped in a certain
   drm_gpuvm becomes much cheaper.

3) Drivers can derive and extend the structure to easily represent
   driver specific states of a BO for a certain GPUVM.

The idea of this abstraction was taken from amdgpu, hence the credit for
this idea goes to the developers of amdgpu.

553c84892b drm/drm_file: Add DRM obj's RSS reporting function for fdinfo
Some BO's might be mapped onto physical memory chunkwise and on demand,
like Panfrost's tiler heap. In this case, even though the
drm_gem_shmem_object page array might already be allocated, only a very
small fraction of the BO is currently backed by system memory, but
drm_show_memory_stats will then proceed to add its entire virtual size to
the file's total resident size regardless.

This led to very unrealistic RSS sizes being reckoned for Panfrost, where
said tiler heap buffer is initially allocated with a virtual size of 128
MiB, but only a small part of it will eventually be backed by system memory
after successive GPU page faults.

Provide a new DRM object generic function that would allow drivers to
return a more accurate RSS and purgeable sizes for their BOs.

0c0816d68d drm/gem: fix lockdep check for dma-resv lock
When no custom lock is set to protect a GEMs GPUVA list, lockdep checks
should fall back to the GEM objects dma-resv lock. With the current
implementation we're setting the lock_dep_map of the GEM objects 'resv'
pointer (in case no custom lock_dep_map is set yet) on
drm_gem_private_object_init().

However, the GEM objects 'resv' pointer might still change after
drm_gem_private_object_init() is called, e.g. through
ttm_bo_init_reserved(). This can result in the wrong lock being tracked.

To fix this, call dma_resv_held() directly from
drm_gem_gpuva_assert_lock_held() and fall back to the GEMs lock_dep_map
pointer only if an actual custom lock is set.

e6303f323b drm: manager to keep track of GPUs VA mappings
Add infrastructure to keep track of GPU virtual address (VA) mappings
with a decicated VA space manager implementation.

New UAPIs, motivated by Vulkan sparse memory bindings graphics drivers
start implementing, allow userspace applications to request multiple and
arbitrary GPU VA mappings of buffer objects. The DRM GPU VA manager is
intended to serve the following purposes in this context.

1) Provide infrastructure to track GPU VA allocations and mappings,
   using an interval tree (RB-tree).

2) Generically connect GPU VA mappings to their backing buffers, in
   particular DRM GEM objects.

3) Provide a common implementation to perform more complex mapping
   operations on the GPU VA space. In particular splitting and merging
   of GPU VA mappings, e.g. for intersecting mapping requests or partial
   unmap requests.

9630b585b6 drm/msm/gem: Prevent blocking within shrinker loop
Consider this scenario:

1. APP1 continuously creates lots of small GEMs
2. APP2 triggers `drop_caches`
3. Shrinker starts to evict APP1 GEMs, while APP1 produces new purgeable
   GEMs
4. msm_gem_shrinker_scan() returns non-zero number of freed pages
   and causes shrinker to try shrink more
5. msm_gem_shrinker_scan() returns non-zero number of freed pages again,
   goto 4
6. The APP2 is blocked in `drop_caches` until APP1 stops producing
   purgeable GEMs

To prevent this blocking scenario, check number of remaining pages
that GPU shrinker couldn't release due to a GEM locking contention
or shrinking rejection. If there are no remaining pages left to shrink,
then there is no need to free up more pages and shrinker may break out
from the loop.

This problem was found during shrinker/madvise IOCTL testing of
virtio-gpu driver. The MSM driver is affected in the same way.

4a83c26a1d drm/gem: rename GEM CMA helpers to GEM DMA helpers
Rename "GEM CMA" helpers to "GEM DMA" helpers - considering the
hierarchy of APIs (mm/cma -> dma -> gem dma) calling them "GEM
DMA" seems to be more applicable.

Besides that, commit e57924d4ae ("drm/doc: Task to rename CMA helpers")
requests to rename the CMA helpers and implies that people seem to be
confused about the naming.

In order to do this renaming the following script was used:

```
	#!/bin/bash
	DIRS="drivers/gpu include/drm Documentation/gpu"
	REGEX_SYM_UPPER="[0-9A-Z_\-]"
	REGEX_SYM_LOWER="[0-9a-z_\-]"
	REGEX_GREP_UPPER="(${REGEX_SYM_UPPER}*)(GEM)_CMA_(${REGEX_SYM_UPPER}*)"
	REGEX_GREP_LOWER="(${REGEX_SYM_LOWER}*)(gem)_cma_(${REGEX_SYM_LOWER}*)"
	REGEX_SED_UPPER="s/${REGEX_GREP_UPPER}/\1\2_DMA_\3/g"
	REGEX_SED_LOWER="s/${REGEX_GREP_LOWER}/\1\2_dma_\3/g"
	# Find all upper case 'CMA' symbols and replace them with 'DMA'.
	for ff in $(grep -REHl "${REGEX_GREP_UPPER}" $DIRS)
	do
	       sed -i -E "$REGEX_SED_UPPER" $ff
	done
	# Find all lower case 'cma' symbols and replace them with 'dma'.
	for ff in $(grep -REHl "${REGEX_GREP_LOWER}" $DIRS)
	do
	       sed -i -E "$REGEX_SED_LOWER" $ff
	done
	# Replace all occurrences of 'CMA' / 'cma' in comments and
	# documentation files with 'DMA' / 'dma'.
	for ff in $(grep -RiHl " cma " $DIRS)
	do
		sed -i -E "s/ cma / dma /g" $ff
		sed -i -E "s/ CMA / DMA /g" $ff
	done
	# Rename all 'cma_obj's to 'dma_obj'.
	for ff in $(grep -RiHl "cma_obj" $DIRS)
	do
		sed -i -E "s/cma_obj/dma_obj/g" $ff
	done
```

Only a few more manual modifications were needed, e.g. reverting the
following modifications in some DRM Kconfig files

    -       select CMA if HAVE_DMA_CONTIGUOUS
    +       select DMA if HAVE_DMA_CONTIGUOUS

as well as manually picking the occurrences of 'CMA'/'cma' in comments and
documentation which relate to "GEM CMA", but not "FB CMA".

Also drivers/gpu/drm/Makefile was fixed up manually after renaming
drm_gem_cma_helper.c to drm_gem_dma_helper.c.

This patch is compile-time tested building a x86_64 kernel with
`make allyesconfig && make drivers/gpu/drm`.

7938f42181 dma-buf-map: Rename to iosys-map
Rename struct dma_buf_map to struct iosys_map and corresponding APIs.
Over time dma-buf-map grew up to more functionality than the one used by
dma-buf: in fact it's just a shim layer to abstract system memory, that
can be accessed via regular load and store, from IO memory that needs to
be acessed via arch helpers.

The idea is to extend this API so it can fulfill other needs, internal
to a single driver. Example: in the i915 driver it's desired to share
the implementation for integrated graphics, which uses mostly system
memory, with discrete graphics, which may need to access IO memory.

The conversion was mostly done with the following semantic patch:

	@r1@

49a3f51dfe drm/gem: Use struct dma_buf_map in GEM vmap ops and convert GEM backends
This patch replaces the vmap/vunmap's use of raw pointers in GEM object
functions with instances of struct dma_buf_map. GEM backends are
converted as well. For most of them, this simply changes the returned type.

TTM-based drivers now return information about the location of the memory,
either system or I/O memory. GEM VRAM helpers and qxl now use ttm_bo_vmap()
et al. Amdgpu, nouveau and radeon use drm_gem_ttm_vmap() et al instead of
implementing their own vmap callbacks.

d693def4fd drm: Remove obsolete GEM and PRIME callbacks from struct drm_driver
Several GEM and PRIME callbacks have been deprecated in favor of
per-instance GEM object functions. Remove the callbacks as they are
now unused. The only exception is .gem_prime_mmap, which is still
in use by several drivers.

What is also gone is gem_vm_ops in struct drm_driver. All drivers now
use struct drm_gem_object_funcs.vm_ops instead.

While at it, the patch also improves error handling around calls
to .free and .get_sg_table callbacks.

v3:

83b8a6f242 drm/gem: Fix mmap fake offset handling for drm_gem_object_funcs.mmap
Commit c40069cb7b ("drm: add mmap() to drm_gem_object_funcs")
introduced a GEM object mmap() hook which is expected to subtract the
fake offset from vm_pgoff. However, for mmap() on dmabufs, there is not
a fake offset.

To fix this, let's always call mmap() object callback with an offset of 0,
and leave it up to drm_gem_mmap_obj() to remove the fake offset.

TTM still needs the fake offset, so we have to add it back until that's
fixed.

c40069cb7b drm: add mmap() to drm_gem_object_funcs
drm_gem_object_funcs->vm_ops alone can't handle everything which needs
to be done for mmap(), tweaking vm_flags for example. So add a new
mmap() callback to drm_gem_object_funcs where this code can go to.

Note that the vm_ops field is not used in case the mmap callback is
present, it is expected that the callback sets vma->vm_ops instead.

Also setting vm_flags and vm_page_prot is the job of the new callback.
so drivers have more control over these flags.

drm_gem_mmap_obj() will use the new callback for object specific mmap
setup. With this in place the need for driver-speific fops->mmap
callbacks goes away, drm_gem_mmap can be hooked instead.

drm_gem_prime_mmap() will use the new callback too to just mmap gem
objects directly instead of jumping though loops to make
drm_gem_object_lookup() and fops->mmap work.

805dc614d5 drm/prime: Update docs
Yes this is a bit a big patch, but since it's essentially a complete
rewrite of all the prime docs I didn't see how to better split it up.

Changes:
- Consistently point to drm_gem_object_funcs as the preferred hooks,
  where applicable.

- Document all the hooks in &drm_driver that lacked kerneldoc.

- Completely new overview section, which now also includes the cleaned
  up lifetime/reference counting subchapter. I also mentioned the weak
  references in there due to the lookup caches.

- Completely rewritten helper intro section, highlight the
  import/export related functionality.

- Polish for all the functions and more cross references.

I also sprinkled a bunch of todos all over.

Most important: 0 code changes in here. The cleanup motivated by
reading and improving all this will follow later on.

v2: Actually update the prime helper docs. Plus add a few FIXMEs that
I won't address right away in subsequent cleanup patches.

v3:
- Split out the function moving. This patch is now exclusively
  documentation changes.
- Typos and nits (Sam).

3e70fd160c drm: remove deprecated "[__]drm_gem_object_[un]reference[_locked]" functions
There are no more places where these (deprecated) functions are being
used from, thus they can now be removed.

b39b5394fa drm/gem: Add drm_gem_object_funcs
This adds an optional function table on GEM objects.
The main benefit is for drivers that support more than one type of
memory (shmem,vram,cma) for their buffers depending on the hardware it
runs on. With the callbacks attached to the GEM object itself, it is
easier to have core helpers for the the various buffer types. The driver
only has to make the decision about buffer type on GEM object creation
and all other callbacks can be handled by the chosen helper.

drm_driver->gem_prime_res_obj has not been added since there's a todo to
put a reservation_object into drm_gem_object.

v3: Add todo entry

v2: Drop drm_gem_object_funcs->prime_mmap in favour of
drm_gem_prime_mmap() (Daniel Vetter)

v1:
- drm_gem_object_funcs.map -> .prime_map let it only do PRIME mmap like
  the function it superseeds (Daniel Vetter)
- Flip around the if ladders and make obj->funcs the first choice
  highlighting the fact that this the new default way of doing it
  (Daniel Vetter)

c0a51fd07b drm: move read_domains and write_domain into i915
i915 is the only driver using those fields in the drm_gem_object
structure, so they only waste memory for all other drivers.

Move the fields into drm_i915_gem_object instead and patch the i915 code
with the following sed commands:

sed -i "s/obj->base.read_domains/obj->read_domains/g" drivers/gpu/drm/i915/*.c drivers/gpu/drm/i915/*/*.c
sed -i "s/obj->base.write_domain/obj->write_domain/g" drivers/gpu/drm/i915/*.c drivers/gpu/drm/i915/*/*.c

Change is only compile tested.

v2: move fields around as suggested by Chris.
