move asm/unaligned.h to linux/unaligned.h
asm/unaligned.h is always an include of asm-generic/unaligned.h; might as well move that thing to linux/unaligned.h and include that - there's nothing arch-specific in that header. auto-generated by the following: for i in `git grep -l -w asm/unaligned.h`; do sed -i -e "s/asm\/unaligned.h/linux\/unaligned.h/" $i done for i in `git grep -l -w asm-generic/unaligned.h`; do sed -i -e "s/asm-generic\/unaligned.h/linux\/unaligned.h/" $i done git mv include/asm-generic/unaligned.h include/linux/unaligned.h git mv tools/include/asm-generic/unaligned.h tools/include/linux/unaligned.h sed -i -e "/unaligned.h/d" include/asm-generic/Kbuild sed -i -e "s/__ASM_GENERIC/__LINUX/" include/linux/unaligned.h tools/include/linux/unaligned.h |

arc: get rid of private asm/unaligned.h
Declarations local to arch/*/kernel/*.c are better off *not* in a public header - arch/arc/kernel/unaligned.h is just fine for those bits. Unlike the parisc case, here we have an extra twist - asm/mmu.h has an implicit dependency on struct pt_regs, and in some users that used to be satisfied by include of asm/ptrace.h from asm/unaligned.h (note that asm/mmu.h itself did _not_ pull asm/unaligned.h - it relied upon the users having pulled asm/unaligned.h before asm/mmu.h got there). Seeing that asm/mmu.h only wants struct pt_regs * arguments in an extern, just pre-declare it there - less brittle that way. With that done _all_ asm/unaligned.h instances are reduced to include of asm-generic/unaligned.h and can be removed - unaligned.h is in mandatory-y in include/asm-generic/Kbuild. What's more, we can move asm-generic/unaligned.h to linux/unaligned.h and switch includes of <asm/unaligned.h> to <linux/unaligned.h>; that's better off as an auto-generated commit, though, to be done by Linus at -rc1 time next cycle. i2c-for-6.12-rc1
I2C core ======== After 15 years of deprecation, the I2C_COMPAT symbol has finally been removed. Also client addresses are now locked during initialization to prevent race conditions between different kinds of instantiation. Scoped foreach OF child loops are now used. And the testunit has received some cleanups and documentation improvements as well as two new tests, one for repeated start and one for triggering SMBusAlert interrupts. I2C host drivers ================ The DesignWare and the Renesas I2C drivers have received most of the changes in this pull request. The first has has undergone through a series of cleanups that have been sent to the mailing list a year ago for the first time and finally get merged in this pull request. They are many, from typos (e.g. i2/i2c), to cosmetics, to refactoring (e.g. move inline functions to librarieas) and many others. Besides that, all the DesignWare Kconfig options have been grouped under the I2C_DESIGNWARE_CORE and this required some adaptation in many of the kernel configuration files for different arm and mips boards. Follows the list of the rest of the changes grouped by type of change. Cleanups -------- The Qualcomm Geni platform improves the exit path in the runtime resume function. The Intel LJCA driver loses "target_addr" parameter in ljca_i2c_stop() because it was unused. The MediaTek controller intializes the restart_flag in the transfer function using the ternary conditional operator ("? :") instead of initializing it in different parts. Constified a few global data structures in the virtio driver. The Renesas driver simplifies the bus speed handling in the init function making it more readable. Improved an if/else statement in probe function of the Renesas R-Car driver. The iMX/MXC driver switches to using the RUNTIME_PM_OPS() instead of SET_RUNTIME_PM_OPS(). Still in the iMX/MXC driver a comma ',' has been replaced by a semicolon ';', while in different drivers the ',' has been removed from the '{ }' delimiters. Finally three devm_clk_get_enabled() have been used to simplify the devm_clk_get/clk_prepare_enable tuple in the Renesas EMEV2, Ingenic and MPC drivers. Refactors --------- The Nuvoton fixes a potential out of boundary array access. This is not a bug fix because the issue could never occur due to hardware not having the properties listed in the array. The change makes the driver more future proof and, at the same time, silences code analyzers. Improvements ------------ The Renesas I2C (riic) driver undergoes several patches improving the runtime power management handling. The Intel i801 driver uses a more descriptive adapter's name to show the presence of the IDF feature. In the Intel Denverton (ismt) adapter the pending transactions are killed when irq's can't complete their handling, triggering a timeout. This could have been considered as a bug fix, but because, standing to Vasily, it's very sporadic, I preferred considering the patch rather as an improvement. New Feature ----------- The Renesas I2C (riic) driver now supports the fast mode plus. New support ----------- Added support for: - Renesas R9A08G045 - Rockchip RK3576 - KEBA I2C - Theobroma Systems Mule Multiplexer. The Keba comes with a new driver, i2c-keba.c. The Mule is an i2c multiplexer and it also comes with a new driver, mux/i2c-mux-mule.c. Core patch ---------- This pull request includes also a patch in the I2C framework, in i2c-core-base.c where the runtime PM functions have been replaced in order to allow to be accessed during the device add. Devicetree ---------- Some cleanups in the devicetree, as well. nVidia and Qualcomm bindings improve their "if:then:" blocks. While the aspeed binding loses the "multi-master" property because it was redundant. The i2c-sprd binding has been converted to YAML. AT24 updates ============ - document a new model from giantec in DT bindings -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIzBAABCgAdFiEEOZGx6rniZ1Gk92RdFA3kzBSgKbYFAmbxGRsACgkQFA3kzBSg KbY2IhAApRRZHNmxxcMRmxbDnbNweJdRGbtADEdkLMDui8oeK9SJHgScD0bR308p pkHEvyOg7UiW0N4wkaDK0YpORIrGSHys2DqIC05/OLPLONz2Ry/qKuNkisZBxo6l oP9uVKDMuCHgZq7xsxqupmpefMJ0m8XBGoMKPLbyBMu7ga4vB8o4uEQZfQLKs3YP mFm4plZvECCVPgJ5/bp43cFFmhfPLTd088k9/XzFwB730uXPO6VsBuaYzQ7tMOR3 NQCmh/8sFJmVlJvkTnQ5QRNTo2zn+hNmjV1avFJwo5lqz35TmfpVR/+TjYPwi9v6 7H5KjHrIxQHmeaLwm94wOuJSriFzQ3DUQkxvH7vRxXDef+6nTRdD6xC+zxePKLXo R4dYslP+5yXvtPYHonJUTXXZkfug58iO7W6Isc/5ody1y4FD22daTG5HXuWRlaAP 7O0kiyQmrwy5IZCqpwVPBJ7f+dpZzpCVP0OyXeHVXyK61rZT4zG9FvEiLQYjmYOn MOSbddFm5yQRu+OB8GVmYKlVlCG0S+Y11fFMCO/yJZQJqLXZm2AbonwB8sz0OqZu 4zDgXg+z3Xy/Go6/FFfjltoWq/9dYzzFzUi0oB6rm0U/pFawtCtAYhfCodzJDZI4 QvzALJuFWwQZjGNmqDVfYABcX8wFxE8zAteQy+htu0Fn7qSV7GU= =DTNY -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'i2c-for-6.12-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/wsa/linux Pull i2c updates from Wolfram Sang: "I2C core: - finally remove the I2C_COMPAT symbol after 15 years of deprecation - lock client addresses during initialization to prevent race conditions between different kinds of instantiation - use scoped foreach OF child loops - testunit cleanups and documentation improvements, as well as two new tests, one for repeated start and one for triggering SMBusAlert interrupts I2C host drivers: - DesignWare and Renesas I2C driver updates. arc: convert to generic syscall table
The uapi/asm/unistd_32.h and asm/syscall_table_32.h headers can now be generated from scripts/syscall.tbl, which makes this consistent with the other architectures that have their own syscall.tbl. arc has a couple of architecture specific system calls, which I add to the generic table. This for some reason includes the deprecated sys_sysfs() syscall that was presumably added by accident. The time32, renameat, stat64 and rlimit entries in the syscall_abis_32 entry are for system calls that were part of the generic ABI when arch/arc got added but are no longer enabled by default for new architectures. Both the user visible side of asm/unistd.h and the internal syscall table in the kernel should have the same effective contents after this. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> |

clone3: drop __ARCH_WANT_SYS_CLONE3 macro
When clone3() was introduced, it was not obvious how each architecture deals with setting up the stack and keeping the register contents in a fork()-like system call, so this was left for the architecture maintainers to implement, with __ARCH_WANT_SYS_CLONE3 defined by those that already implement it. Five years later, we still have a few architectures left that are missing clone3(), and the macro keeps getting in the way as it's fundamentally different from all the other __ARCH_WANT_SYS_* macros that are meant to provide backwards-compatibility with applications using older syscalls that are no longer provided by default. Address this by reversing the polarity of the macro, adding an __ARCH_BROKEN_SYS_CLONE3 macro to all architectures that don't already provide the syscall, and remove __ARCH_WANT_SYS_CLONE3 from all the other ones. ARC: Add eBPF JIT support
This will add eBPF JIT support to the 32-bit ARCv2 processors. The implementation is qualified by running the BPF tests on a Synopsys HSDK board with "ARC HS38 v2.1c at 500 MHz" as the 4-core CPU. The test_bpf.ko reports 2-10 fold improvements in execution time of its tests. For instance: test_bpf: #33 tcpdump port 22 jited:0 704 1766 2104 PASS test_bpf: #33 tcpdump port 22 jited:1 120 224 260 PASS test_bpf: #141 ALU_DIV_X: 4294967295 / 4294967295 = 1 jited:0 238 PASS test_bpf: #141 ALU_DIV_X: 4294967295 / 4294967295 = 1 jited:1 23 PASS test_bpf: #776 JMP32_JGE_K: all ... magnitudes jited:0 2034681 PASS test_bpf: #776 JMP32_JGE_K: all ... magnitudes jited:1 1020022 PASS Deployment and structure ------------------------ The related codes are added to "arch/arc/net": - bpf_jit.h -- The interface that a back-end translator must provide - bpf_jit_core.c -- Knows how to handle the input eBPF byte stream - bpf_jit_arcv2.c -- The back-end code that knows the translation logic The bpf_int_jit_compile() at the end of bpf_jit_core.c is the entrance to the whole process. Normally, the translation is done in one pass, namely the "normal pass". In case some relocations are not known during this pass, some data (arc_jit_data) is allocated for the next pass to come. This possible next (and last) pass is called the "extra pass". 1. Normal pass # The necessary pass 1a. Dry run # Get the whole JIT length, epilogue offset, etc. 1b. kbuild: use $(src) instead of $(srctree)/$(src) for source directory
Kbuild conventionally uses $(obj)/ for generated files, and $(src)/ for checked-in source files. It is merely a convention without any functional difference. In fact, $(obj) and $(src) are exactly the same, as defined in scripts/Makefile.build: src := $(obj) When the kernel is built in a separate output directory, $(src) does not accurately reflect the source directory location. While Kbuild resolves this discrepancy by specifying VPATH=$(srctree) to search for source files, it does not cover all cases. For example, when adding a header search path for local headers, -I$(srctree)/$(src) is typically passed to the compiler. This introduces inconsistency between upstream and downstream Makefiles because $(src) is used instead of $(srctree)/$(src) for the latter. To address this inconsistency, this commit changes the semantics of $(src) so that it always points to the directory in the source tree. Going forward, the variables used in Makefiles will have the following meanings: $(obj) - directory in the object tree $(src) - directory in the source tree (changed by this commit) $(objtree) - the top of the kernel object tree $(srctree) - the top of the kernel source tree Consequently, $(srctree)/$(src) in upstream Makefiles need to be replaced with $(src). arch: Rename fbdev header and source files
The per-architecture fbdev code has no dependencies on fbdev and can be used for any video-related subsystem. Rename the files to 'video'. Use video-sti.c on parisc as the source file depends on CONFIG_STI_CORE. On arc, arm, arm64, sh, and um the asm header file is an empty wrapper around the file in asm-generic. Let Kbuild generate the file. The build system does this automatically. Only um needs to generate video.h explicitly, so that it overrides the host architecture's header. The latter would otherwise interfere with the build. Further update all includes statements, include guards, and Makefiles. Also update a few strings and comments to refer to video instead of fbdev. v3: - arc, arm, arm64, sh: generate asm header via build system (Sam, Helge, Arnd) - um: rename fb.h to video.h - fix typo in commit message (Sam) Signed-off-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Reviewed-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Cc: Vineet Gupta <vgupta@kernel.org> Cc: Catalin Marinas <catalin.marinas@arm.com> Cc: Will Deacon <will@kernel.org> Cc: Huacai Chen <chenhuacai@kernel.org> Cc: WANG Xuerui <kernel@xen0n.name> Cc: Geert Uytterhoeven <geert@linux-m68k.org> Cc: Thomas Bogendoerfer <tsbogend@alpha.franken.de> Cc: "James E.J. treewide: use initializer for struct vm_unmapped_area_info
Future changes will need to add a new member to struct vm_unmapped_area_info. This would cause trouble for any call site that doesn't initialize the struct. Currently every caller sets each member manually, so if new ones are added they will be uninitialized and the core code parsing the struct will see garbage in the new member. It could be possible to initialize the new member manually to 0 at each call site. This and a couple other options were discussed. Having some struct vm_unmapped_area_info instances not zero initialized will put those sites at risk of feeding garbage into vm_unmapped_area(), if the convention is to zero initialize the struct and any new field addition missed a call site that initializes each field manually. So it is useful to do things similar across the kernel. The consensus (see links) was that in general the best way to accomplish taking into account both code cleanliness and minimizing the chance of introducing bugs, was to do C99 static initialization. As in: struct vm_unmapped_area_info info = {}; With this method of initialization, the whole struct will be zero initialized, and any statements setting fields to zero will be unneeded. The change should not leave cleanup at the call sides. While iterating though the possible solutions a few archs kindly acked other variations that still zero initialized the struct. These sites have been modified in previous changes using the pattern acked by the respective arch. So to be reduce the chance of bugs via uninitialized fields, perform a tree wide change using the consensus for the best general way to do this change. Use C99 static initializing to zero the struct and remove and statements that simply set members to zero. - Sumanth Korikkar has taught s390 to allocate hotplug-time page frames
from hotplugged memory rather than only from main memory. Series "implement "memmap on memory" feature on s390". - More folio conversions from Matthew Wilcox in the series "Convert memcontrol charge moving to use folios" "mm: convert mm counter to take a folio" - Chengming Zhou has optimized zswap's rbtree locking, providing significant reductions in system time and modest but measurable reductions in overall runtimes. The series is "mm/zswap: optimize the scalability of zswap rb-tree". - Chengming Zhou has also provided the series "mm/zswap: optimize zswap lru list" which provides measurable runtime benefits in some swap-intensive situations. - And Chengming Zhou further optimizes zswap in the series "mm/zswap: optimize for dynamic zswap_pools". Measured improvements are modest. - zswap cleanups and simplifications from Yosry Ahmed in the series "mm: zswap: simplify zswap_swapoff()". - In the series "Add DAX ABI for memmap_on_memory", Vishal Verma has contributed several DAX cleanups as well as adding a sysfs tunable to control the memmap_on_memory setting when the dax device is hotplugged as system memory. - Johannes Weiner has added the large series "mm: zswap: cleanups", which does that. - More DAMON work from SeongJae Park in the series "mm/damon: make DAMON debugfs interface deprecation unignorable" "selftests/damon: add more tests for core functionalities and corner cases" "Docs/mm/damon: misc readability improvements" "mm/damon: let DAMOS feeds and tame/auto-tune itself" - In the series "mm/mempolicy: weighted interleave mempolicy and sysfs extension" Rakie Kim has developed a new mempolicy interleaving policy wherein we allocate memory across nodes in a weighted fashion rather than uniformly. This is beneficial in heterogeneous memory environments appearing with CXL. - Christophe Leroy has contributed some cleanup and consolidation work against the ARM pagetable dumping code in the series "mm: ptdump: Refactor CONFIG_DEBUG_WX and check_wx_pages debugfs attribute". - Luis Chamberlain has added some additional xarray selftesting in the series "test_xarray: advanced API multi-index tests". - Muhammad Usama Anjum has reworked the selftest code to make its human-readable output conform to the TAP ("Test Anything Protocol") format. Amongst other things, this opens up the use of third-party tools to parse and process out selftesting results. - Ryan Roberts has added fork()-time PTE batching of THP ptes in the series "mm/memory: optimize fork() with PTE-mapped THP". Mainly targeted at arm64, this significantly speeds up fork() when the process has a large number of pte-mapped folios. - David Hildenbrand also gets in on the THP pte batching game in his series "mm/memory: optimize unmap/zap with PTE-mapped THP". It implements batching during munmap() and other pte teardown situations. The microbenchmark improvements are nice. - And in the series "Transparent Contiguous PTEs for User Mappings" Ryan Roberts further utilizes arm's pte's contiguous bit ("contpte mappings"). Kernel build times on arm64 improved nicely. Ryan's series "Address some contpte nits" provides some followup work. - In the series "mm/hugetlb: Restore the reservation" Breno Leitao has fixed an obscure hugetlb race which was causing unnecessary page faults. He has also added a reproducer under the selftest code. - In the series "selftests/mm: Output cleanups for the compaction test", Mark Brown did what the title claims. - Kinsey Ho has added the series "mm/mglru: code cleanup and refactoring". - Even more zswap material from Nhat Pham. The series "fix and extend zswap kselftests" does as claimed. - In the series "Introduce cpu_dcache_is_aliasing() to fix DAX regression" Mathieu Desnoyers has cleaned up and fixed rather a mess in our handling of DAX on archiecctures which have virtually aliasing data caches. The arm architecture is the main beneficiary. - Lokesh Gidra's series "per-vma locks in userfaultfd" provides dramatic improvements in worst-case mmap_lock hold times during certain userfaultfd operations. - Some page_owner enhancements and maintenance work from Oscar Salvador in his series "page_owner: print stacks and their outstanding allocations" "page_owner: Fixup and cleanup" - Uladzislau Rezki has contributed some vmalloc scalability improvements in his series "Mitigate a vmap lock contention". It realizes a 12x improvement for a certain microbenchmark. - Some kexec/crash cleanup work from Baoquan He in the series "Split crash out from kexec and clean up related config items". - Some zsmalloc maintenance work from Chengming Zhou in the series "mm/zsmalloc: fix and optimize objects/page migration" "mm/zsmalloc: some cleanup for get/set_zspage_mapping()" - Zi Yan has taught the MM to perform compaction on folios larger than order=0. This a step along the path to implementaton of the merging of large anonymous folios. The series is named "Enable >0 order folio memory compaction". - Christoph Hellwig has done quite a lot of cleanup work in the pagecache writeback code in his series "convert write_cache_pages() to an iterator". - Some modest hugetlb cleanups and speedups in Vishal Moola's series "Handle hugetlb faults under the VMA lock". - Zi Yan has changed the page splitting code so we can split huge pages into sizes other than order-0 to better utilize large folios. The series is named "Split a folio to any lower order folios". - David Hildenbrand has contributed the series "mm: remove total_mapcount()", a cleanup. - Matthew Wilcox has sought to improve the performance of bulk memory freeing in his series "Rearrange batched folio freeing". - Gang Li's series "hugetlb: parallelize hugetlb page init on boot" provides large improvements in bootup times on large machines which are configured to use large numbers of hugetlb pages. - Matthew Wilcox's series "PageFlags cleanups" does that. - Qi Zheng's series "minor fixes and supplement for ptdesc" does that also. S390 is affected. - Cleanups to our pagemap utility functions from Peter Xu in his series "mm/treewide: Replace pXd_large() with pXd_leaf()". - Nico Pache has fixed a few things with our hugepage selftests in his series "selftests/mm: Improve Hugepage Test Handling in MM Selftests". - Also, of course, many singleton patches to many things. Introduce a generic way to query whether the data cache is virtually aliased on all architectures. Its purpose is to ensure that subsystems which are incompatible with virtually aliased data caches (e.g. FS_DAX) can reliably query this. For data cache aliasing, there are three scenarios dependending on the architecture. Here is a breakdown based on my understanding: A) The data cache is always aliasing: * arc * csky * m68k (note: shared memory mappings are incoherent ? SHMLBA is missing there.) * sh * parisc B) The data cache aliasing is statically known or depends on querying CPU state at runtime: * arm (cache_is_vivt() || cache_is_vipt_aliasing()) * mips (cpu_has_dc_aliases) * nios2 (NIOS2_DCACHE_SIZE > PAGE_SIZE) * sparc32 (vac_cache_size > PAGE_SIZE) * sparc64 (L1DCACHE_SIZE > PAGE_SIZE) * xtensa (DCACHE_WAY_SIZE > PAGE_SIZE) C) The data cache is never aliasing: * alpha * arm64 (aarch64) * hexagon * loongarch (but with incoherent write buffers, which are disabled since commit |

asm-generic cleanups for 6.8
A series from Baoquan He cleans up the asm-generic/io.h to remove the ioremap_uc() definition from everything except x86, which still needs it for pre-PAT systems. This series notably contains a patch from Jiaxun Yang that converts MIPS to use asm-generic/io.h like every other architecture does, enabling future cleanups. Some of my own patches fix -Wmissing-prototype warnings in architecture specific code across several architectures. This is now needed as the warning is enabled by default. There are still some remaining warnings in minor platforms, but the series should catch most of the widely used ones make them more consistent with one another. David McKay fixes a bug in __generic_cmpxchg_local() when this is used on 64-bit architectures. This could currently only affect parisc64 and sparc64. Additional cleanups address from Linus Walleij, Uwe Kleine-König, Thomas Huth, and Kefeng Wang help reduce unnecessary inconsistencies between architectures. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIzBAABCgAdFiEEiK/NIGsWEZVxh/FrYKtH/8kJUicFAmWeak8ACgkQYKtH/8kJ UidSiQ/+LL1WTO9d3Zx5HI0GGGjaIYpYs6jUNSf9Y5GPQiOrvjfEWj7CU11/4vxl GlQRpRyncYm8Eiz0Qu+aNxZFiiMah8Uful75yfbX8P1L4EPTbAYNDjkyNJrTjIAK jPK4sl8awIrapOeFUz++PsEj22R/4Is4f0mo+CqoCkL5RKlHe5oFdXzcwjmds4yK CvU6Ldn+M7FZ3EItMdjXaB3D3HS9uictFiO5JByZY8p+IcqgNRI/iHNnZIMsltJ+ XjDi0DG+x4jCj6teElSchw7AofE4OcNSP3xbR1PLKv6+xBLGYaAGZhNuPTz88eV/ Gj0loDQrrR5McGUfDBRHK9zN2Jd0O/FKnfh9kLOt1FLFyGPvC78Q/2HkpVCjbBr2 Pr1aqhLDHA+tGNSsThsV8RUa8/tiEnxAki43tfBFS3SEKhtQsTm2g1z4miwbE3p0 BJIrSgTqrP/SBq7a9z/thPrkzdZcNuA9FUETTbaMeUlJS51n1V9E5A1t7sOG7jaI vV/gbuR6FjvD49mTyQiOSCt3V4ygRqgN1Q+C4QM8WLqq2keUq0AhGodquv8F78in J3x2j2r27lHY7jKf8B0dua/JXAsF20u8qD6yDQ9ymkjt/MWhGXBgK0jpT7RTIuMS e2jmTywUVD4UohAcx3inkOojUhIJ5KDB0I4Pzv4zWcHNbyFNKcY= =4VQl -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'asm-generic-6.8' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arnd/asm-generic Pull asm-generic cleanups from Arnd Bergmann: "A series from Baoquan He cleans up the asm-generic/io.h to remove the ioremap_uc() definition from everything except x86, which still needs it for pre-PAT systems. mm: Introduce flush_cache_vmap_early()
The pcpu setup when using the page allocator sets up a new vmalloc mapping very early in the boot process, so early that it cannot use the flush_cache_vmap() function which may depend on structures not yet initialized (for example in riscv, we currently send an IPI to flush other cpus TLB). But on some architectures, we must call flush_cache_vmap(): for example, in riscv, some uarchs can cache invalid TLB entries so we need to flush the new established mapping to avoid taking an exception. So fix this by introducing a new function flush_cache_vmap_early() which is called right after setting the new page table entry and before accessing this new mapping. This new function implements a local flush tlb on riscv and is no-op for other architectures (same as today). Overlayfs uses backing files with "fake" overlayfs f_path and "real" underlying f_inode, in order to use underlying inode aops for mapped files and to display the overlayfs path in /proc/<pid>/maps.
