This test case catches lost wake up introduced by commit 339ddb53d3
("fs/epoll: remove unnecessary wakeups of nested epoll")
The test is simple: we have 10 threads and 10 event fds. Each thread
can harvest only 1 event. 1 producer fires all 10 events at once and
waits that all 10 events will be observed by 10 threads.
In case of lost wakeup epoll_wait() will timeout and 0 will be returned.
Test case catches two sort of problems: forgotten wakeup on event, which
hits the ->ovflist list, this problem was fixed by:

the other problem is when several sequential events hit the same waiting
thread, thus other waiters get no wakeups. Problem is fixed in the
following patch.

Since 5.7-rc1, on btrfs we have a percpu counter initialization for
which we always pass a GFP_KERNEL gfp_t argument (this happens since
commit 2992df7326 ("btrfs: Implement DREW lock")).
That is safe in some contextes but not on others where allowing fs
reclaim could lead to a deadlock because we are either holding some
btrfs lock needed for a transaction commit or holding a btrfs
transaction handle open. Because of that we surround the call to the
function that initializes the percpu counter with a NOFS context using
memalloc_nofs_save() (this is done at btrfs_init_fs_root()).
However it turns out that this is not enough to prevent a possible
deadlock because percpu_alloc() determines if it is in an atomic context
by looking exclusively at the gfp flags passed to it (GFP_KERNEL in this
case) and it is not aware that a NOFS context is set.
Because percpu_alloc() thinks it is in a non atomic context it locks the
pcpu_alloc_mutex. This can result in a btrfs deadlock when
pcpu_balance_workfn() is running, has acquired that mutex and is waiting
for reclaim, while the btrfs task that called percpu_counter_init() (and
therefore percpu_alloc()) is holding either the btrfs commit_root
semaphore or a transaction handle (done fs/btrfs/backref.c:
iterate_extent_inodes()), which prevents reclaim from finishing as an
attempt to commit the current btrfs transaction will deadlock.

This could be fixed by making btrfs pass GFP_NOFS instead of GFP_KERNEL
to percpu_counter_init() in contextes where it is not reclaim safe,
however that type of approach is discouraged since
memalloc_[nofs|noio]_save() were introduced. Therefore this change
makes pcpu_alloc() look up into an existing nofs/noio context before
deciding whether it is in an atomic context or not.

In a couple of places in the slub memory allocator, the code uses
"s->offset" as a check to see if the free pointer is put right after the
object. That check is no longer true with commit 3202fa62fb ("slub:
relocate freelist pointer to middle of object").
As a result, echoing "1" into the validate sysfs file, e.g. of dentry,
may cause a bunch of "Freepointer corrupt" error reports like the
following to appear with the system in panic afterwards.

In the event that we add to ovflist, before commit 339ddb53d3
("fs/epoll: remove unnecessary wakeups of nested epoll") we would be
woken up by ep_scan_ready_list, and did no wakeup in ep_poll_callback.
With that wakeup removed, if we add to ovflist here, we may never wake
up. Rather than adding back the ep_scan_ready_list wakeup - which was
resulting in unnecessary wakeups, trigger a wake-up in ep_poll_callback.
We noticed that one of our workloads was missing wakeups starting with
339ddb53d3 and upon manual inspection, this wakeup seemed missing to me.
With this patch added, we no longer see missing wakeups. I haven't yet
tried to make a small reproducer, but the existing kselftests in
filesystem/epoll passed for me with this patch.

If the trapping instruction contains a ':', for a memory access through
segment registers for example, the sed substitution will insert the '*'
marker in the middle of the instruction instead of the line address:

When I run my memcg testcase which creates lots of memcgs, I found
there're unexpected out of memory logs while there're still enough
available free memory. The error log is
mkdir: cannot create directory 'foo.65533': Cannot allocate memory
The reason is when we try to create more than MEM_CGROUP_ID_MAX memcgs,
an -ENOMEM errno will be set by mem_cgroup_css_alloc(), but the right
errno should be -ENOSPC "No space left on device", which is an
appropriate errno for userspace's failed mkdir.
As the errno really misled me, we should make it right. After this
patch, the error log will be

Information needed to debug driver problems and firmware faults is stored
in the IOC’s MPT3SAS_ADAPTER data structure. Parameters such as IOCFacts,
IOC flags (related to sge, MSI-X, error recovery etc.), performance mode
type, TMs, internal commands reply status, etc. are present.
For debugging purposes, it is therefore helpful to be able to capture this
information so that the fault can be analyzed. Export the MPT3SAS_ADAPTER
data structure in debugfs. The data is available in:

The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language
extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare
variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2],
introduced in C99:

By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning
in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which
will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being
inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on.
Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by
this change:
"Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator
may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of
zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1]
sizeof(flexible-array-member) triggers a warning because flexible array
members have incomplete type[1]. There are some instances of code in
which the sizeof operator is being incorrectly/erroneously applied to
zero-length arrays and the result is zero. Such instances may be hiding
some bugs. So, this work (flexible-array member conversions) will also
help to get completely rid of those sorts of issues.
This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle.

This patch fixes the return value of ima_write_policy() when a new policy
is directly passed to IMA and the current policy requires appraisal of the
file containing the policy. Currently, if appraisal is not in ENFORCE mode,
ima_write_policy() returns 0 and leads user space applications to an
endless loop. Fix this issue by denying the operation regardless of the
appraisal mode.

qla2xxx [0001:00:02.0]-e881:1: qla2x00_wait_for_hba_online() failed
The reason of this message is the QLA_FUNCTION_FAILED code that
qla2x00_wait_for_hba_online() returns. However, qlt_disable_vha() expects
that adapter is offlined and QLA_FUNCTION_FAILED informs about the offline
state of the adapter.
The qla2x00_abort_isp() function finishes the execution at the point of
checking the adapter's mode (for example, qla_tgt_mode_enabled()) because
of the qlt_disable_vha() calls qlt_clear_mode() method. It means that
qla2x00_abort_isp() keeps vha->flags.online is equal to zero. Finally,
qla2x00_wait_for_hba_online() checks the state of this flag and returns
QLA_FUNCTION_FAILED error code.
This patch changes the failure message which informs about adapter's
offline state.

This patch avoids a kernel panic due to accessing an error pointer set by
crypto_alloc_shash(). It occurs especially when there are many files that
require an unsupported algorithm, as it would increase the likelihood of
the following race condition:
Task A: *tfm = crypto_alloc_shash() <= error pointer
Task B: if (*tfm == NULL) <= *tfm is not NULL, use it
Task B: rc = crypto_shash_init(desc) <= panic
Task A: *tfm = NULL
This patch uses the IS_ERR_OR_NULL macro to determine whether or not a new
crypto context must be created.

Commit a408e4a86b ("ima: open a new file instance if no read
permissions") tries to create a new file descriptor to calculate a file
digest if the file has not been opened with O_RDONLY flag. However, if a
new file descriptor cannot be obtained, it sets the FMODE_READ flag to
file->f_flags instead of file->f_mode.
This patch fixes this issue by replacing f_flags with f_mode as it was
before that commit.

syzbot managed to trigger a recursive NETDEV_FEAT_CHANGE event
between bonding master and slave. I managed to find a reproducer
for this:
ip li set bond0 up
ifenslave bond0 eth0
brctl addbr br0
ethtool -K eth0 lro off
brctl addif br0 bond0
ip li set br0 up
When a NETDEV_FEAT_CHANGE event is triggered on a bonding slave,
it captures this and calls bond_compute_features() to fixup its
master's and other slaves' features. However, when syncing with
its lower devices by netdev_sync_lower_features() this event is
triggered again on slaves when the LRO feature fails to change,
so it goes back and forth recursively until the kernel stack is
exhausted.
Commit 17b85d29e8 intentionally lets __netdev_update_features()
return -1 for such a failure case, so we have to just rely on
the existing check inside netdev_sync_lower_features() and skip
NETDEV_FEAT_CHANGE event only for this specific failure case.

When a subflow is created via mptcp_subflow_create_socket(),
a new 'struct socket' is allocated, with a new i_ino value.
When inspecting TCP sockets via the procfs and or the diag
interface, the above ones are not related to the process owning
the MPTCP master socket, even if they are a logical part of it
('ss -p' shows an empty process field)
Additionally, subflows created by the path manager get
the uid/gid from the running workqueue.
Subflows are part of the owning MPTCP master socket, let's
adjust the vfs info to reflect this.
After this patch, 'ss' correctly displays subflows as belonging
to the msk socket creator.

Currently, bonding always returns NETDEV_TX_OK to its caller.
It is worth trying to be more accurate : TCP for instance
can have different recovery strategies if it can have more
precise status, if packet was dropped by slave qdisc.
This is especially important when host is under stress.

The unsigned variable val is being checked for an error by checking
if it is less than zero. This can never occur because val is unsigned.
Fix this by making val a plain int.

The NL_SET_ERR_MSG_MOD macro is used to report a string describing an
error message to userspace via the netlink extended ACK structure. It
should not have a trailing newline.
Add a cocci script which catches cases where the newline marker is
present. Using this script, fix the handful of cases which accidentally
included a trailing new line.
I couldn't figure out a way to get a patch mode working, so this script
only implements context, report, and org.

The MCU CPSW expected to populate only MDIO device, but follow up patches
will add "compatible" property to the MCU CPSW CPTS node which will cause
creation of CPTS device and MCU CPSW init failure. Hence, switch to use
of_platform_device_create() instead of of_platform_populate() for MDIO
device population.

Allowing a non-power-of-2 zone size forces the use of direct division
operations of 64-bit sector values to obtain a zone number or number of
zones. Doing so without using do_div() leads to compilation errors on
32-bit architectures.
Devices with a zone size that is not a power of 2 do not exist today so
allowing their emulation is of limited interest as the sd driver will not
support them anyway. To fix this compilation error, instead of using
do_div() for sector values divisions, simply disallow zone size values that
are not a power of 2.
